I would pass up this interview every time I would see it. This was one of the best interview I ever saw. I learned so much from it.
Vlad almost strikes me as being a cop. Or a investigator working with the feds. Once someone mentioned the art of war in his interview and he knew all about it. And it was something I did read not long ago. And I understood why it was said.

*Thats also something I've always heard & witnessed from all the interviews I've seen from Kevin Chiles. I do NOT think I've EVER heard him say any statements that had the word "Nigga" in it. It seems like when he says statements that people would normally say "Nigga" in, he would say "Homies" or "Dudes" ... like instead of saying "These Niggas was crazy"... & "Them Niggas was hot." Kevin would say "These DUDES was crazy" & "Them DUDES was hot" ...*
*Too me it does seem like its more of a "Older Head & OG" type of thing, in most cases, rather than a certain type of character & person... Even though there is plenty of examples regarding intelligent people never using the word "Nigga" as well, I've noticed it more in OGs.*

Of all the drug dealers and mobsters that have been interviewed on here, this is my favorite so far. I appreciated how this man told the raw truth and didnt try to make himself seem like the man. His humility is something alot of these other guys could learn from. I'm sorry to hear about his mother, that's crazy. Great interview and thanks for sharing your reality with us.

Damn..This was a phenomenal interview! Kevin’s integrity as a man and his ability to cope with the complexities and consequences of his life actions are commendable! Most people would have folded like a cheap tent under that type of pressure and pain and wouldn’t have been able to survive and thrive in the aftermath! Kudos to Kevin and Vlad both for sharing the story and highlighting the triumphs and tragedies of the game! As a dude born and raised in Harlem and the South Bronx who moved to DC in the 80’s, the journey relived in this interview was a familiar trip down memory lane. I was a member of a crew who caught a Fed drug case. There were 12 of us, I was the ONLY one who didn't cooperate. I took mine to trial and got a hung jury because I knew they didn't have a strong case on me. My WHOLE CREW testified at trial. The problem for me was that the Feds put me up for a SECOND trial. And pressured me to plead out with info that they would have folks lying one me, perjuring themselves by stating that they were buying drugs from me over extended periods of time among other lies. People I never met or knew. I got ended up pleading out to the mandatory minimum of 10 years. My jury deliberated for a week before they were hung. There were 11 whites, one black juror. The main prosecutor was heated, made an outburst in court when he realized that they wouldn't be able to convict. That's where they ended up with the extra "witnesses". I fought my case for 2 years before trial. My attorney told me straight out I was cooked on the first day of my second trial if I didn't plead. I never sold to an informant. Not to a cop, not to a Fed agent. I wasn't caught with drugs. I ended up doing the 10 and got out. All my codefendents got their deals off me. Every one of them told. I had a BOSS attorney defending me. He also gave me sound legal advice in hindsight. I had seen that the Feds will try you until they convict you. There were guys in the FDC I was held in who were on their FOURTH and FIFTH trials after hung jury after hung jury. And who had been fighting their cases for OVER 10 years. The judge in my case was also sympathetic, and encouraged me to plead while also telling prosecutors that she would NOT give me life or even 20 years regardless of if I was convicted in court.
BTW, I was bitter for a long time. But I actually forgive my codefendents for cooperating. I can't live the rest of my life with hatred in my heart. It's like a poison. We were all young and playing a dangerous game none of us fully understood. And yeah, I read Don Diva while I was away. That shit is fire.

Kevin is amazingly patient with vlad, who is possibly the worst interviewer I have ever seen. He couldn’t ask an open ended question to save his life.

He tells many of the guys he interviews they're stupid without saying "you're stupid" but they're too stupid to realize that he's playing them as stupid. Vlad is real slick I dislike how you snarked at your Kevin Giles for the decisions he had made. Which landed him an interview with you because like it or not our world galvanizes over these stories. Kevin hustled his way out of poverty right or wrong poverty is a drug to kick as well. Times were very different back then but still I love the way Kevin held his own after your slights.
Oh, he corrected Vlad. Drugs were the vehicle that was accessible to him at the time. Mr. Chiles pivoted from that and is moving in a different direction. Mr. Chiles is using Vlad TV to push his book and message.
He even hinted that he funded his brothers education with drug money at the end. I only watch Vlad because his guests usually come through despite his condescending 💩

When Kevin mentioned the “golden era” I felt that because the youth of today will never understand what took place back then and at that time everyone thought it would last forever. Imagine all your friends and family simultaneously winning the lottery, that’s the best way I can describe it. The money was so plentiful at that time and the cost of living was cheap. That era is over and dudes from that era must struggle to adjust to this era.

Out of all these drug kingpin interviews, this guy seem very smart, humble, credible, honorable and truthful. You can see the pain that the lifestyle has caused him, I will never condone the lifestyle but I’m just saying.

I can't believe Vlad has no idea about how the criminal justice system functions. Chiles, to a great degree, gets it. So many times my clients don't understand the system and don't want to understand it. Chiles is a very intelligent individual who unfortunately got involved in the drug business. He appears to be intelligent enough to be anything he wants to be. I love his comment in response to Vlad's implication that Chiles was spending his money (foolishly?) on lawyers and Chiles responds, "No I was spending my money on my hopes of my freedom." Let me add to that statement by saying your freedom is priceless. Chiles is incredibly patient with Vlad who appears to have never stepped foot in a courtroom or even walked past one. Vlad it's "chambers" not "quarters". Good God Vlad pick up a "Law for Dummies" book and read it before you do an interview like this. I also love how Chiles sets Vlad straight on snitches. That said, I loved this interview because we got to hear from Kevin Chiles.

The fact that this man has to live with the loss of his mother is a sentence in itself. No matter what he was doing that was a price higher than 8 and 1/2 years. Thankfully, he can share this cautionary tale. Hopefully, those that need to hear it are listening.

Kevin has a great way of explaining and describing situations and how things were. When I was watching the AZ interview, AZ couldn’t explain or describe anything. He just would say “you know what I mean?” and we would just have to guess. Great interview.

One of the defining moments of this interview is when he said that he would be getting out of jail in his 30’s. Never had a job. No idea where to go from here. The contrast in making tens of millions - tax free, to making several hundred a month in a job. That must be a very bitter pill to swallow.
