Sweet work on this! Love the Kandy Blue on there and what you did with the fenders, great job on the tuck n roll also! What I have found with the HOK Candy's, the basecoat Kandy does fit the scale for models better so than the old urethane Kandy's. I love em all and have been spraying them since I was a young teenager, but the basecoats are definitely easier to match up for builds with several pieces being painted in the body color. Great work can't wait to see this on finished up!
Thanks! Yeah I love the HoK. I guess what I got was some of the old school stuff before. I got some brandywine from somewhere a long time ago and It just looked too big. It made me think of dad's old bass boat, you know how they were in the 80's with the huge flake. The scale finishes stuff was just so perfectly scaled. Scale Finishes and Splash have become my go-tos for paint now. I think if I had gone with HoK's base coat candy on the T.50 build, I'd have had an easier time with it. But that splash candy orange over that Zero extra fine silver is such a beautiful combo.
@@JHartModelworks definitely some great options from Scale Finishes, Splash, MCW and Tropical Glitz. I hear you on the older urethanes, I don’t use them as much as I used to with the base Kandy available 🤙🏼

Thanks Mike! I was a little worried the Oriental blue would be too light and almost went with the cobalt I used on the Pantera, but I'm really glad I didn't. This is the perfect color for this truck.

Thanks! I used the tamiya engraving tool with the 0.2mm bit as well as the gunprimer scribing tool (which is really a sewing needle in a mechanical pencil body) I held the scribers so they followed the angle of the slats and the slowly and carefully carved out the openings for each slat. It'd work from the top to the bottom a few times then flip it over and go bottom to top to try and keep it even. The important thing is not to jump out of the groove and not go past the end of the slat and gouge the body panels. took me 2 days of bench time to get them all opened up. Once I got the slats open I cut a thin strip of sand paper to slide between the slats, then flipped it and ran it through to clean up both sides. They aren't perfect. I definitely still need some practice. Have a great weekend!

I also used his Navarro heads kit because it comes with a twin carb intake manifold, a nice set of carbs, and I lso added his Alternator kit to convert everything to 12volt with a modern battery and distributor. I printed it at 38% scale to get it to fit right.

Thanks Mike! Rhino is a NURBS based 3D modeling program. I had a copy ages ago when I did 3D art as a hobby. My copy is super old, buggy as hell, and Doesn't like windows 10, but a new version is closed to $1000 so... yeah. The Resin I'm using right now is Sariya Tech Fast in the metal gray color but it doesn't come out looking like metal at all for me it just looks like a little darker gray. So, yep the wheels are painted, the wheel face is painted with either mr. hobby super metallic duraluminum or tamiya lp48 sparkling silver, then sprayed with the HoK oriental blue.
