I don't have any off-roading intentions. I will be using this vehicle (Petrol AT) for city office commute mainly. I want to buy this vehicle because it stands out on the road, and the amazing effort Mahindra has made to build this MADE IN INDIA vehicle is worth appreciating.
The vehicle has its negatives though. Lack of Rear camera is a big negative, followed by low mileage in city conditions.
Given the fact that currently I am used to a very smooth Toyota Corolla Altis, PLEASE SUGGEST if Thar's Bumpy ride on bad roads (that we see all around in Delhi) such a major factor that I should drop the idea of buying this car? After spending 20L (including accessories) the last thing I want is to get annoyed everytime the car hits a bad road. Is it that bad on bad roads?
Please help me take this decision.

Thorough and detailed review, Brilliant job. With Short wheelbase and high profile tyre off-road vehicle steering slack , slight pitching and floaty feel at high speed is expected and people who understand this will genuinely enjoy this vehicle. We can expect great petrol and diesel engines from Mahindra and Ford in the future I guess. Kudos to Mahindra engineers.👍

You can buy anything as an accessory or in the aftermarket. But such a feature should have been a part of stock equipment

U earned my subscription. Awesome review ! So only at 120 kmph plus, we have the handling issues.. that too only on uneven highways. Am i correct ?
It is not meant to be driven at high speeds. It is best suited for cruising at 100 km/h.

Hi any idea whether the chemical binders used to bind the hard top and the metal body are covered under warranty for leakages etc. Some of the test rides initially have found tiny specks of water entering inside. I think this can be the biggest issue with the car once the initial euphoria dies out.

Door shutting is because of air pressure inside the cabin, now the cabin is not as airy as before :). Crack down the glass a little, will shut just fine.

Doors need to be easily removable and also have to conform to crash norm requirements. Once you get used to it. Doesn’t bother. And wait till you drive the manual petrol. 😄

What if i want to buy convertible soft top version because there is zip which can be unzipped from exterior. I mean if i travel some where and i have to park my vehicle outside for all night, is it safe for the technique of zipper given on it, very much worried about this did u have any solution.
Convertible will always have that theft issue.

I have booked thar petrol auto Lx, I will be using it for only for pleasure trips as I have others car for daily use.
My friend suggest me that Diesel engine is more torque and proven then petrol engine which mahindra in offering.
As you have driven both engines please provide your honest review which engine is good.
Mileage is not a issue as well may be using it 500-600 km per month.
Is petrol engine is also a good option to buy in thar ?
Is it fast and torquey then diesel.
In my opinion, the petrol is better. Plenty of torque at the bottom end too. Surprisingly good for a petrol

You can always get anything fitted as an accessory or in the aftermarket. We are discussing what is missing as a standard feature

What is the UV resistance of the plastic on top? Also can we put a roof rack on top?
Not sure about the UV resistance bit. Roof rack won't be possible, as it's not a very solid, metallic top
Very important but unrelated : any update on the foolish isi helmet issue? Two/three years back when i purchased a helmet, there were a large number of helmets on amazon but now there is none (ece certified). I had an HJC helmet. Does anyone know online/offline shop where i can get another?
