    Excellent review. .. specially the tyre pressure thing which you mentioned with standard 16" rim , approach n departure angle etc .. great job

    It’s a lovely vehicle. These 16 inch contrast coloured steel wheels and those knobby tyres do look very purposeful.

      @@reubinthomas my profession needs me to go with my staff and equipments to several off-road bad regions.... Wanted a more capable offroaders.... But I can't afford Jeep Wrangler.... Was planning to dispose Scorpio and adjust with 3 door Thar.... But the bootspace.... I also take my family for trips to the same new places I found during the duty assignments.... Scorpio has given me, my staff and family several stories already...

    Excellent Review and very specific and right points. Bit concern on the Auto petrol about sucks and release at the gear changing time and the soft top sound while at 80 km speed which is a concern.
    The real look and feel of Mahindra comes from the soft top and convertable.
    As my second car I booked LX Auto Diesel soft top convertable. On road price in Bangalore is 17.3 lakhs plus few thousands will touch 18 bit high . Expected below 15😢
    Wherever you are would like to hear Auto Diesel performance in hilly road s, on the hill espically overtaking trucks , slow down and overtaking on and offf. Any power drops at that point. About adventure accessory too.

    As good as Thar might be, I think it needed a proper full metal roof. They could have just made it two tone matte black to aid the looks. Would have helped keeping NVH levels low and lesser rattles over the years (that fibre hardtop will eventually start making noises) Also on large scale production it wouldnt have added too much to the cost.

    There is no doubt about off road Cabaplity. Please suggest is it good like compact suv on highway? I about to purchase ecosport but looking for a suggestion on thar as well.. Please suggest ecosport Or thar for long drive..

    Dear overdrive, a lot of overexposing off-road videos but please drive this above130kmph then review about confidence, wind noise etc no one does this

      All reviews are unanimous in their view that the Thar cannot handle that kind of speed. Making me wonder y it needs that 2.2litre engine?! Might as well gone with their 1.5diesel mill from their xuv300.

      @@Nobody-tk6fz If u r a Thar fan I don't mean to upset u. We r all united in our love for cars:). It's just that I thought that a Thar powered by the 1.5liter diesel engine from their xuv300 will be a far more sincere package. It after all produces an identical 30kgm torque as the 2.2liter diesel unit while at the same time knocking of a few lakhs in taxes. :)
      1.5litre diesel mill driving the rear wheels & we would have booked 1 by now ;).

      @@GbMuthu I have no issues with the point about different engines, they might still offer it as an option. I was replying to the post about test driving it at 130+ which is not only illegal but completely contrary to the basic design principles and purpose of the vehicle in question. It's like asking why a bicycle review did not include a test ride in the middle of an expressway.

    5:37 Taken by surprise hearing all the praises regarding ride quality and steering precision. This is in contradiction to every other reviews who didn't speak great about the said characteristics. I understand this is a pure breed 4x4 and know what to expect. Just makes me more curious and wanting to do a TD and check it out myself.

    Mahindra has paid lot of youtubers handsome of money for the Thar promotion.. it really figured out for Mahindra as bulk of his subscribers had booked the car without even doing the test drive.. Thar itself is a brand no doubt about it .. But at this price point is really a ??. . There are better options available in the market at this price point with lot more features.

    People are ready to pay..but...mahindra..needs..to..uptask..thar...comeon.. rear parking views, foldable automatically rooftop, adjustable comfoseats, good mileage. Looking at EV version, more ground clearance....mahindra should give indian more global quality to mark competition behind and they can.

    Kudos to mahindra..for bringing bigger engines within middle class range ..
    I would still say.. they can bring 1.2P 130 ps for lil more fuel efficient..that may not be ideal for off roading but will be enough easy to run with

      Their 1.2 petrol could be underpowered but not their 1.5 diesel from the xuv300 which produces an identical 30kgm torque. That engine on a RWD layout would be splendid for those of us battling it out in the urban jungle 😅. Moreover it is ridiculous to use a 2.2litre engine for a chassis that cannot handle speeds over 120kmph.

    You haven't mentioned the major cons with this vehicle....comfort for one. Both front and back seats are terrible. Glove box is good for a diaper only. Boot space good to keep back pack. That doesn't make it a family car. Steering is far from precise. Wonder if your test vehicle had a different set up.

    It's overpriced..Atleast for same price they should hav provided armrest, rear ac vent, dead pedal n utilised side space in rear seats for LX version plus roof rails as an accessory... Basics!

    The softop is basically for more civilized society .... Coz imagine you park your softop thar out side your home in a slummy congested residential area some idiot takes a chaaku and phaaassaaakk a tear on the softop plastic side sheet easilly stealble also...

    Bekaar hyi mahindra..see and learn from BAIC they are launching their wrangler copy bj40 SUV in Pakistan which is a much poor country than india..bj40 is 100% more stylish than this dabba thar..still lot of mistakes in thar design front windshield is awkward and super flat from side angle non aero dynamic..dont buy thar investing 15 lakhs of rupees its still ugly in design and needs lot of improvements..if anyone sees BAIC bj40 off roader they wont buy Thar for sure.
