From the way I understand it, in reality Asta would have killed her so that would have been her fate but because Vanessa's magic can manipulate fate it self, it sort of changed what her future would be. Instead of her to die or feel pain she then survived and didn't feel anything. Noelle herself didn't know that was her fate only witch queen and Vanessa could see their fates.
