You started me on my Ganzo journey with the rat clone. Now I'm up to 6 different models. You are 100% right in saying they are great gifts. I've bought a couple for friends. Thanks for sharing 3 more offerings.
@@NoirHoundI ordered one and thought the axis lock was a bit janky and felt cheap to me. It squeaked when opening. Compared to my Rat 2 it was a joke really. I returned it. But I also got the 759 (Spyderco clone) at the same time and love that knife. I haven't put it down since I got it. I really like the lock back, the grip on the frn scales, and the choil. They also have a bigger Spyderco clone with axis lock
In this price range I really like the QSP knives, the fit on them is really exceptional (though the fit on the Ganzo knives look good as well). For their value D2 options, I have the spear-point Parrot model, which sells for US$20-25 (and I got for sub-AUS$40, which is extremely good value here in Australia), and their super-popular sheep-foot model the Penguin goes for US$30-35. Well worth looking at in this price range, especially outside the US.
I've had my Ganzo Firebird FH922 for 3 years, it was only $22 at Power Cutlery. It was my first knife with D2 steel. I carry it more than my Manix or PM2 because it's not a big loss if I lose it.
I've only ever heard good things about Ganzo and it's great to see a channel I respect also say how good they are and worthy of attention. Loving the sheepsfoot on that second knife. I might have to hunt one out to review on my channel. Thanks for sharing.
I have the FH922 in uncoated D2, and I really do think it's a high fun to dollar ratio. I did have to force patina the blade but two days of sitting in vinegar barely darkened it. Really excited they have them in a fully coated version now
It will darken to light greyish color but you need to use more powerful acid than vinagre as vinagre most od time have addition of antioxidants that don't go well with metal patina. But before that you need to seriously mate it with sand paper/scotch brite and then clean it with aceton/alcohol before dipping it. I managed to put patina on few of my d2 knives and after also dipping them in hot mineral oil i never saw rust on them. It's just that they don't go full dark but they get nice mate color
I hve purchased several Ganzo/FB knives over the past decade, and I have had issues with edge retention and poor QC on 50% of them. I think I only have one left in my rotatio..
I hear people talk about D2 rust but I live in Bama and never have any trouble and I have a good many in D2 cause I think it's crazy to buy this so-called super steel that still only cuts. Just not my thing. Don't mind saving hundreds and using a stone every once in a while
Civivi mini praxis Damascus steel and wood handles for 60 as a customer appreciation model how do you feel about it? And how do these knives in the code compare to the mini praxis 😅
The 922 is a great knife, I've been using it for the last 5-6 months and I only have words of praise. Super smooth action, D2 is one of the best I've used, ergonomics are great and the price is TOP!! I know that people don't really like Ganzo, is it Chinese, but it doesn't bother me personally, if people use Civivi, which is also Chinese, why not Ganzo? Realistically, the 922 is a 3X better knife than the Elementum at a lower price
Why do I get the impression that Ganzo's FH series and their FB series are made in different factories? Thanks for the good overview, that FH922 model really knocks me out!
Yea... if only darn near everything they've made recently wasn't in D2... For not much more (30-35-ish iirc) you can get Ruike knives with 14c28n which is a significant upgrade to both of the steels ganzo uses.
Ganzo is the best brand for me.... (sorry for my english i'm french 😅) prices attractives and nothing to say for the quality ! The liner lock on the fh31 is hard on the one i had but it's not a problem either... 😊
If possible, can you slow open the knives you review. It seems like every knife you have has a spring that snaps it open. maybe just once during a review to show the sound it makes If you need to open it without making noise.
These are almost certainly not coated in DLC. At this price point it's probably not Cerekote either. Most likely it's just some type of paint like Ontario does on the coated RAT models.
I love ganzo knives, especially those in 440C. Only complaint is the orange scales, they really get dirty easily. Maybe that is prevalent only on the more texture scales
big fan of ganzo, but my fh922 was a disappointment, it kept opening in my pocket. Quite a fright to find that open blade waiting for you when you reach into your pocket. I haven't heard other people complain so maybe I just got one with a weak detent, but I will not carry mine anymore. Oh it came with a bent wire clip too, maybe I just got a dud overall.
Month ago I got 924 and 922. 924 was a bit hit and miss as blade is a bit light so closing action is not that smooth(on mine at least) carbon fiber end being just g10 with carbon pattern on top, but blade was super sharp and it's still is after all that time and no sharpening, and overall it's just... Comfy to hold. No kidding this knife is feel nice in hand... And for me that is what matters. And 922? Oh my god this thing is snapy as hell. Smooth as butter. Opening it and closing is pure joy. Also clip make best vibrating sound when you close it it... Its just go click-pinnnnnnnng. Amazing. Ganzo also seriously mastered D2 heat treatment. It's super hard like it probably hit 61hrc without an issue. But as any d2 it will rust. I left mine 922 in garden after using it whole day and, one night = rust spots. Quick wipe with wd40 and it's gone as it's just surface rust but you need to watch for blade if it's get wet
$30 bucks is as high as im looking to go for a pocket knife.... What are the metal options at this price point and what would make one better than the other?
That's funny, I've been buying their stuff up on Amazon and aside from their Delica copy that I returned because it's just a horrible knife, these are the only 3 I don't own! LMAO I totally agree with you about the RAT clones being better than the originals. In fact I also returned a RAT 2 because as soon as I opened the box all I thought was "Clearly EVERYONE is insane." and "My Ganzo copy destroys this thing!". Their original designs and Firebird knives are SO detail oriented. My personal and all time favorite FB/Ganzo is the FH81 where they actually carved a design into the G10. Not a grip texture... A DESIGN. That knife is nothing but unconventional beauty from tip to butt and I see it as the bar Ganzo raised which every other budget knife company now has to clear. And let's be honest... There's not a lot of Asian budget knife makers really challenging Ganzo these days. It wouldn't take a lot to raise themselves to that level either but that's when we need to remind ourselves that if these companies wanted to put out TRULY stellar knives, they wouldn't be budget companies. 😂
Delica copy horrible??? It could be greatly improved by a few simple changes, one being rounding the edges of the handle, but it is still a great knife as is. A real workhorse and a top carry for self defense.
@@dunexapa1016 Meh... The delica is not an expensive knife to begin with so I think people are just better off buying a delica. You can buy them In really good condition second hand for not much money at all.
@@gabedestellano #1. I am a cheapskate. #2. My two Delica copies cost less than $10 each. #3. I am happy with both but especially happy with my most recent Delica copy. Over the winter, I plan to do micarta handle/frame Delica copies. IMHO, the Delica gen 3 was their best and the best EDC knife ever.
Hii! Can you make a comparison video between VICTORINOX classic sd VS NEXTOOL 4-In-1 multifunctional tools, because both of the tools are almost identical! Cheers
My knife philosophy is very simple ; I buy knives that if I break it, lose it, or need to give it to someone, Im not going to sweat it. $500 knives are awesome, but if you drop it out of your pocket or leave it in your pants when you take your clothes to the cleaners... that is going to hurt. Ive never batted an eye at losing or snapping the blade on my Sodbuster or BuckLite. And I often gift my pocket carry to someone in need if its a Rough Ryder. Not doing that with my Buck Strider Police issue. And a knife thats in your desk drawer is never of any use when you are in the field.
The G734 (Spyderco clone) is my favorite that you can still get. The G732 was even better, but it seems like they got hit with a cease and desist on that one. Probably a trademark violation.
Which is understandable but a little bit insane because the Chinese Para 2 clones completely counterfeit their knives and they're all over the web. At least Ganzo put their own name on their variants and didn't try to scam people into thinking that they're getting a real Spyderco.
Would you say that you prefer these over Stivian or SRM? Does Ganzo carry crossbar/axis lock knives? Ganzo does have really nice looking designs though, I may have to pick up either the orange or the green knives.
Gamzo does have an axis lock line. A lot of them are clones, and they have 440c. SRM are another great cheap company. Some of their designs are a little out there, but I have a small frame lock from them that cost £12 and is probably my most carried knife despite having much more expensive knives. SRM are the manufacturer for a lot of Boker plus knives, and they also make the spyderco Byrd knives. I imagine that they also work with CRKT and Kershaw, but I have no evidence of that. They're a huge company.
Oh yes ganzo are great knives for a fraction of the cost bro, along with honey badger and free tiger you cant go wrong for price vs quality 👌, ive started collecting ganzo and only have three so far, the firebird fh61, firebird fh91 and the g626 and love them all, but i espeacialy love my fh61 and its my new edc, its one everyone should have, but im planning to get one of each, same with honey badger and free tiger 👍, thnx for a great review bro ✌
Let me say that Honey Badger's customer service is INCREDIBLE. They took care of a couple of manufacturing flaws that got shipped to me VERY quickly and then sent me extras as well! Great people, great communication and SUCH a good knife... Hell, just for customizing alone!
Except, ..... You will never be quite satisfied. You should inspect and test the lock on each one. The backlocks are fine. The axis and liner locks usually need hand fitting to be safe. The knife will be heavier usually and the steel mediocre. If you NEED a knife for under $20 (still ???) a Ganzo would do. I have carried the Delica copy for some time, but recently found some replacements. One being a copy of the Gen 1 Delica, which is only second to the gen 3 which was the best.
I own another one in their D2. I shouldnt take it to work. I like that the model has been tested at 62HRC but of course it chips like crazy. The tip is gone. I simply had to turn a screw and it was the only shiny thing in my pockets. It was like using a spaghetti. Almost any side load on the egde can result in deep chips. It may cut copper or even mild steel but any rotation and twisting will brake it. It rusts in pit fashion. The steel is not homogenous enough IMHO. At least it doesnt roll. I cant stand butter steel. It was the cheapest knife that hard. Next time I'd try 1095 this hard to have something tough around. Does anyone know a brand that has 1095 in tested hardness above 61? It can be a fixed blade. Idk about maxlvl, but while D2 has high potential in terms of edge retention, I've never experienced it. I've had some that's been ok, but still nothing amazing, and those were exceptions. It just seems like playing a heat treat lotto. Without a great heat treat to get that increased edge retention I really don't like the resulting mix of properties. It's not unusable or anything, but 440c seems to be far more tolerant to non-optimal heat treats and thus results in an overall better balanced end product in an ultra budget knife imo.
Really? My friend John has all the Ganzos and lives in Bethpage. I gotta ask him where he's getting them, I just assumed it was Amazon. I had no idea they had L.I. shipping limitations. Is it all of NY, do you know, or just L.I.?
