I've reviewed over 50 Ganzo knives and I have found exactly the same thing - they consistently make good quality knives at a very low price. Maybe the best value knife company out there.
Im embarrassed to share that I own a 300php or roughly $6 folding knife. (Im a very broke student thus the cheap knife.) It might be a cold steel knock-off but its been with me for years, for 5 years now and it held well and gave service and served its purpose despite the cheapness. It's still sharp as I keep it that way since I dont know how to sharpen it without ruining the edge or scratching it. I maintain it with oil and wipe it off after using it.
@druidic4353 Not really, its just many only gets minimum wage for a salary and enough to pay bills and home supplies. Im glad I can afford good quality EDC now but still use my old ones as they hold memories when I was just a student and kept me safe and prepped.
For $23 you can get the Goat Ganzo, especially if you like bigger knives. The G720. I have many ganzo, and did like them all for the most part, but this is the one I’ve kept.
Ganzo and Sanrenmu are who got me into knives. For Ganzo I like the 7601 and the 7611. For Sanrenmu the 7096, 7063 luc (axis version), 910 and 7010. Another sub $20 knife I like is the Enlan EW105 (was super stiff out of the box, but it'll get smooth after the detent ball carves a path through the coating). I no longer buy from companies that make clones or heavily inspired knives or whatever, but without them I doubt I would have gotten into knives in the first place.
Thanks for that. Ganzos really offer a great value. Just one thing... 440C is basically the same thing as 9Cr18MoV. It's better than 8Cr13MoV (which is the same as AUS-8).
I've been carrying the SRM 9211 lately. It's ~$18 - $20. The 9211 is such an enigmatic knife, affordable yet elegant. I wanted a light edc knife, SRM 9211 is around 3oz. Much lighter than the burly Cold Steel that i carried for last 2 years. The Ganzos are sweet... I am more partial to the mid size of the three you demonstrated.
Hard to beat Ganzos for the price point! They are the brand that got me into knives. The FH51 and the FH11 were the first two I bought. 13 Ganzos later and I can’t stop buying them! One of my favorite Ganzos is the FB7651 very fidgety and gets a lot of pocket time.
I finally pulled the trigged on a Firebird 7651 when the discounted price went from above 27$ to 21.5$ and I'm mostly enjoying it, but the axis lock springs are incredibly tough. I can open it with my thumb and some effort, but when I have to close it the ammount of pressure I need to apply to the lock leaves noticeable imprints on my fingers. Did that 10-15 times in a row once I got it to get a feel for the knife and those imprints last and sting for a few hours. Haven't done a full disassembly, but it looks like mine have bearings instead of washers.
I bought one as well, and my lock is no where near as easy as these in the video. Blade has to be forced close, still like it for the price but have been tempted to return it.
@@calebhugill3834 I got mine on a great discount, so a minor inconvenience isn't worth returning it. Stiff lock also prevents me from fidgeting it all the time, which is a good thing.
I daily carried a Firebird for a year and a half. I put that thing through its paces, using it in ways that no knife should be used for LOL, and it has held up great.
I have recently bought the Ganzo 740 and I gotta say I love it, a lot of places have it priced over $50 now, but I still think it's pretty good for the price. Mine does have just a little front and forward play, might need a slightly thicker blade stop or stronger omega springs, but other than that pretty solid.
Your video was only up for 7 hours when I watched it and the G753M1 and the G7531 were out of stock on Amazon. The G740 was in stock so I ordered one for $18.95. I want to do a side-by-side with my Benchmade and Bucks to see how they stack up. Thanks for all the leg work on this. Also, I doubt you will see the two out of stock knives for under $20 when they get restocked. JMHO.
Ended up buying the FB7651. Beautiful knife, easy to open and after slightly sanding the edges it's supper comfortable... I just never use it! It's just sitting on my bedside table because my SAK blade is just more useful lol
Last few years I’ve been carrying a a Byrd. Yeah, it’s not a Spyderco, Chinese made, but it was 20 something bucks, cuts the stuff at work, stays reasonably sharp, and is still well designed. That being said, I do like the smaller Ganzo. Good review.
@@maxlvledc its a newer steel from them. I disnt experienced it yet but i have plenty of their 330c knives and this is how i got hooked up on ganzo back when. 330c is very universal. I dont live my knives wet but they can pick up some rust if left uncleaned. Usually steel wool is enough to clean that up. D2 is harder to sharpen but the cut is nice, i like it better than 330c for sure. You will probably get just enough doodes spitting atvthis knives as they're not hot brands or even knockoffs but im cheap (read budget oriented) and i will stand by my daily ganzo knives. How can i share a pic here? These been popular in russia b4 picking up in the us. I will always remember how one day i brought one to work and then end up buying 5 nore for guys ordering exact copies from me. I also tend to use an el cheapo knife more often than id use some fancy shmancy overprised imho benchmade..cheers.
I have 3 of the 753m, the oldest is one of the first knives I bought 6-7 years ago, and it's my favorite edc. Easy to keep sharp with a strop. I wish they'd make a new version with bearings and 154cm. Ganzo knives may be the most underrated knives on the market.
another great vid Dom. lost track of how many of these things I have now. big fun, small investment. eafengrow another bargain knife that does not get much attention.
I love my Ganzo-Firebird knives, all of them. They were the gateway knives when I began collecting knives. Some of my Ganzo knives are better than some of the Gerber, Kershaw and SOG knives I own. Great review video..!!
as you said on Rai's podcast there are some steels that should go away (3CR, 5CR, 7CR, and definitely 8CR) and for the budget lineup start with 440C, 12c27n, and maybe VG10 for better budget options.I'm wondering if Ganzo has all of the 440C in China because no one else uses it and do they heat treat inhouse because that is the real difference maker with them. I have a few Ganzos they labeled as clones however I would disagree. Clones try to pass themselves off as the real thing whereas Ganzos aren't trying to fool you. They have Ganzo stamped all over them. I know you listed the FB727S but have you tried that one?
I have 4 Ganzo pocket knives so far. The F7601 is my favorite/EDC because it just feels perfect in my hand and the blade is just right to me. My only gripe is that the pocket clip can't be removed or switched to the other side, so lefties might not like it. I will switch that out for the FB7651 from time to time, such as when wearing basketball shorts, because it's slighly smaller and lighter, but the blade feels a little anemic in comparison, but the clip can be removed or reversed. The G720 is big and beefy, so I got it in orange so I don't lose it when doing yard work, hiking, etc., and it takes a beating like nobody's business. The only one I'm not totally in love with is the F759MS, even though I originally bought these looking for a replacement for my missing Spyderco Byrd Cara Cara 2, which it's basically a smaller, better made clone of. I think I was just won over by the other models' thicker, sturdier blades and their ability to open with a flick of the wrist. So, that one lives in my truck as a backup/guest blade. Yes, a guest blade. You never know when a passenger will need to open a package, and it's not safe to go digging for my back pocket while driving.
Nice review. I'm not a knife guy and just looking for something nice for daily tasks (opening boxes, cutting rubber hoses, etc) I've bought a few in the $20-30 range over the years with mixed results. I was planning to go with something more expensive, but these look pretty decent. I'm curious what additional features or benefits you get by spending a little more
You should do a review of some of the Ganzo knives between 20 and 30, if you have already I apologize, have not gone through all your videos. The reason i say this is because in that range Ganzo makes knives of quality, features and handling you sometimes dont even see in knives over $100, like the FH922, FH91 among others. Great review though
I got the F753 the other day. It’s a little hard to open, that’s likely because I’m just not a knife girl. I wanted a knife like one a hunting friend gave me as a teen (it might’ve been a Ganzo), I had to give that one up because it scared my sister Hoping to buy some of these as gifts, it’s already seen a lot of use.
Remember when 440c use to be super steel? Doesn’t seem like it was really that long ago either. I definitely really like the largest one. That thickness is cool. I do love an axis type lock. Love how they break in. Hey man what system are you using for your sharpening?
I found that the Ganzo Axis / crossbar locks are very stiff. I like to fidget with mine by using the lock, so they don't work for me I'll stick to my benchmades. However I have several of their flippers.
My Firebird FH-11S has D2 steel, smooth AF bearings and I bought it just cause I needed a smaller EDC knife, and I haven't yet tried Ganzo knives, although they are very popular in Ukraine. I have been carrying it for the last 6 months or so and I'm yet to find a better knife for this price.
Something I want to make clear about buying "cheap" in general, is that it doesn't have to do with being on a budget. No one should pay $$$$$ for sometime as good as a $ product. This can be either objectively of the same quality and function, or it can be individually. For example, a cheap box cutter fulfills all of my cutting needs, no reason for me to buy a 200$ knife.
Lots of people like to talk shit about Ganzo and Sanrenmu because they "copy" designs but I've always considered them among the best choices for people starting to carry knives in terms of value and quality.
I've worked construction for about 40 years. Over the last few years I have purchased many Ganzo knives. Never been disappointed! I use my knives and I don't believe in paying exorbitant prices for a good working knife. To me paying $100 or more for a simple tool is ridiculous and a waste of my hard earned money.
when i try to order a knife on Amazon I get this message ' This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location'. do you know what is going on ???
Those are good, but there are D2 steel knives , they are like 25-30$, for example D727 . D2 steel is much better at edge retention than 440c , but it's not staneles
440c can actually have better edge retention with proper heat treat..the bigger issue is D2 variance..most Chinese D2 is garbage and has half the edge retention it should compared to properly HTed K110 for instance. D2 is not a safe bet unless you know the source of D2 (and regularly ppl mess up the HT)
@@maxlvledc but ganzo head treats its steel pretty well, probably other companies do it a little bit better but it will cost more, also I'm going to buy ganzo D727 soon, so if I won't forget, I'll give you a review
I'll have to remember this when my edc fails me or I need to buy a gift. I'm a big fan of going budget on EDC knives. Whatever I EDC I want to be able to abuse with zero concern
Did not know Ganzo knives were that inexpensive. They look like Benchmade copies for $20. Now being the end of 2024, a meal at a fast food place costs more than one of these knives, that is crazy.
Kinda makes you wonder if it's worth the extra hundreds for a knife that the only difference is it holds its edge longer. Better warrantee? Yeah but who gives a shite when you can just order another and still be in the good for untold amounts. Of course that's just me.
It's not a button lock...it's a cross bar lock..and both it and true Button locks are NOT illegal anywhere in the USA. Are you referring to switchblades?
The Gonzo nice text the mickey out of just about all the other knives what are the company's going to do when Gonzo puts m390 and various other Steels on the knives I can't wait it's coming definitely and probably with the different knife shape Gonzo will knock it out the ballpark again
in my experience, you get more than you might expect for less than $50..in fact I've had $200 knives made in USA far worse than some $50 chinese made knives. Sad..but true.
also the swiss knife has barrings as well lol so yeah ill never use the knife if i can help it lol maybe for light work lol but yeah ill buy the swiss knife at first and then i might get the gerber zilch even tho the swiss is better i think
What pocket clip would you recommend that would allow the top of the knife to sit flush with the top of the pocket? In some environments, the less "tools" you show, the better you "fit in." Second, is there a mod (3 D printed?) to add a flipper to any extant knife? Used to carry a Buck 110, and one day I bought an allen screw installable thumb stud for it. REALLY improved the utility of the knife for me... Was in my teens - wonder where that one sneaked off to... Knife Sto-vo-cor, probably...) New topic: could you review some of the Fit 2 Survive custom Swiss Knives? Some of those really set off my inner geek. (Homer Simpson Voice) "TOOOOULS." 🪛. Need to find a Leatherman emoji...

Lots of people like to talk shit about Ganzo and Sanrenmu because they "copy" designs but I've always considered them among the best choices for people starting to carry knives in terms of value and quality.
Agreed, I won't turn my nose up at them. If ppl have a limited budget I want to offer good options.
How do these compare to the ten dollar Gordon from Harbor Freight? Thanks.
more than 2x as good, not even close.
I have a Gordon knife from Harbor Freight and I have about a dozen Ganzo knives. Ganzo is much better quality and Ganzo offers more variety.
when i try to order a knife on Amazon I get this message ' This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location'. do you know what is going on ???
Thanks bud,buying one now 😊
What is the brown knife in the thumbnail that you don't show on the video?? I came from your shorts trying to find and buy that knife
The green one? It should have a link in description
@@maxlvledc thanks I see it I don't know how I missed that.
Ganzo and Kershaw are Great Edc blades. Best bang is Ganzo. 🙏✝🙏
I carry a i5r that I’m going to pair with this knife. I would like to add a lightweight multi tool to this as well any recommendations.
How lightweight? Budget?
@@maxlvledc well I just don’t want something weighing down my pockets too much. Is a rebar heavier then the wave?
@@MrMramirez23 much lighter, 6.7oz vs 8.6
@@maxlvledc great! Thank you
Those are good, but there are D2 steel knives , they are like 25-30$, for example D727 .
But the nice part is that these are actually good as well...embarrassingly good..
Anyone know why Amazon won’t ship knives to NYS?
laws in NYS Im guessing.
Great video thanks
No Opinel? They now also do Opinel with plastic handle...
Any options that are not clones? Just curious, not bashing
The 4 I showed are not clones, completely generic
Did not know Ganzo knives were that inexpensive. They look like Benchmade copies for $20. Now being the end of 2024, a meal at a fast food place costs more than one of these knives, that is crazy.
I just don’t understand how Ganzo can steal so many other knife designs!
You cant go wrong with Ganzo knives.
Kinda makes you wonder if it's worth the extra hundreds for a knife that the only difference is it holds its edge longer. Better warrantee? Yeah but who gives a shite when you can just order another and still be in the good for untold amounts. Of course that's just me.
lol i was going to get the G7531 but i want a smaller knife since my hands are tinny lol
so fb and ganzo are the same?
Who is FB?
@@maxlvledc Thats what it said I thought on that one box. FBKnives, or maybe PB?
Firebird
SRM is another that has popped up with crazy good value. The SRM 9201 looks interesting. There is a $20 and $30 version (8cr13MoV/FRN vs D2/G-10).
I reviewed a few, none are this good.
@@maxlvledc What were the issues? I figured I wouldn't actually carry one since I've gotten too picky, but I was intrigued.
@@Ryan_the_tinz just that it'd more for D2 than 440c, and 440c is a better steel imo. And honestly I like the design of the ganzo better.
@@maxlvledc I agree on 440C vs D2. My only problem with Ganzo is that they have some pretty blatant rip-off designs.
Nice, but button locks are illegal in many places. Like where I live.
It's not a button lock...it's a cross bar lock..and both it and true Button locks are NOT illegal anywhere in the USA. Are you referring to switchblades?
I have a Ganzo axis lock and it's better than the Trivisa axis lock I spent 60$ on.. smh
The Gonzo nice text the mickey out of just about all the other knives what are the company's going to do when Gonzo puts m390 and various other Steels on the knives I can't wait it's coming definitely and probably with the different knife shape Gonzo will knock it out the ballpark again
Knives are just like Firearms; good one's ain't cheap, cheap one's ain't good.
in my experience, you get more than you might expect for less than $50..in fact I've had $200 knives made in USA far worse than some $50 chinese made knives. Sad..but true.
Here in Greece the f753m is 35€..but who cares its worthy
No flipper...
Thank God, but you really can't get a crossbar lock + flipper for the most part.
Aaaaand there sold out lol
The other colors are still available. But it's wierd they sold so fast. Also still easy to get on Ali express.
Never again ganzo
also the swiss knife has barrings as well lol so yeah ill never use the knife if i can help it lol maybe for light work lol but yeah ill buy the swiss knife at first and then i might get the gerber zilch even tho the swiss is better i think
What pocket clip would you recommend that would allow the top of the knife to sit flush with the top of the pocket? In some environments, the less "tools" you show, the better you "fit in."
Second, is there a mod (3 D printed?) to add a flipper to any extant knife? Used to carry a Buck 110, and one day I bought an allen screw installable thumb stud for it. REALLY improved the utility of the knife for me...
Was in my teens - wonder where that one sneaked off to... Knife Sto-vo-cor, probably...)
New topic: could you review some of the Fit 2 Survive custom Swiss Knives? Some of those really set off my inner geek. (Homer Simpson Voice) "TOOOOULS." 🪛. Need to find a Leatherman emoji...
also is D2 better then these knifes steel or no i dont know anything about knifes or steels lol
also please let me know if D2 steel is better then these blades steel your reviewing lol
I prefer 440C, more stainless. It gives up a little edge retention but is more serviceable for sure.
1:45 “So, we have a very nice compact package, with a blade length of just - and I mean just under 3 inches total. And it’s fantastic, to say the least.”
Thanks buddy. 🥲
