  • CATCHING A MEGA BROOK TROUT!!
    In this video Andrew catches his new personal best brook trout out of a small winding meadow creek. Along the way he managed to catch multiple big brown trout leading to a very exciting day of streamer fishing. The biggest brown was just under 24 inches which is big for just about anywhere! This is Fly Fishing at it's finest!
    If you enjoyed this video let us know down in the comments and leave a like on the video. More big brown trout videos are coming soon!
    Thanks for watching!

      There could be plenty of anglers who do know the river, just not a lot of the specific areas, types of water and other conditions, techniques etc... that he's showing all these shots of, or they just didn't know what they were doing, or just didn't have as much success for whatever reasons, never realizing the river even had such quality fish in it, and now they might go back there and clean house. All's it takes is one dude to beat u to a spot or sweep a whole entire section of river on a given day, or even days prior, and F it up. Let alone possibly dozens locally.

      They fished this spot already at least once in a previous video before he moved out west. Looks like the trout lived through that video, so I’m sure they’ll be fine!! I’d guess these trout trout don’t even live in this creek they travel into it to spawn from a bigger river or body of water.

    That brook trout looks like it was caught off a redd... that paler gravel is what a redd looks like and when he walks downstream after it there is a redd where he hooked the fish

    • @hardmanfishing
      @hardmanfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      There were a couple of vacant redds at the bottom end of the run, but I hooked the brook trout much further up where it was definitely not on a redd or spawning. I try to be very careful about not fishing for spawning trout. I hope you enjoyed the video!

    • @hardmanfishing
      @hardmanfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      In the US fort the most part the "season" doesn't close for spawn. Like it or not it's just the way it is. So it's best to try and educate people if possible.

    The fish were clearly affected by the spawn because large, wild trout were fighting like a wet sock being dragged through the water. It brings up a debate about ethics and maybe something F&G needs to revisit given the increase in angling pressure in most states these days.

    • @hardmanfishing
      @hardmanfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well brown trout never fight much in my opinion. But I agree, I think there should be some sort of consideration for the spawn in regulation at some point. There are just so many people out there throughout the spawn, some of which may not even realize what is going on. Having said that the fish seem to be doing well and reproducing year after year, so it can't be effecting them too terribly much.

    • @nathanchapman9836
      @nathanchapman9836 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hardmanfishing for how much longer though? Again, given the increase in pressure, in most areas, in most states. Colorado being among the leaders in that category…
