Well, I have to say that was one Helluva grand finale hike! Makes me tired just watching it! Though it sure is a very beautiful area to hike, or just to drive past on the highway! Probably one of the hardest hikes I’ve done as far as bushwhacking with that elevation gain and loose earth beneath the feet! It was almost as hard to come down as it was to go up! But hey, it was amazing and what an end to a great season of hiking with so many memories…….So, onward and upward! Thank you for all you do, Nick! ❤️

Wow, what an adventure! And a bushwhack at that! Well done - and thank you for sharing this!

Some of the best scenery, especially looking towards the West at Nokhu Crags, Richthofen and Mahler peaks and the Diamond peaks with Hwy 14 in between. @12:51.
You should have named a few peaks, maybe even Longs peak and RMNP peaks from the top of Iron Mountain @12:20. Your Mom's hiking skills are amazing.

Wow!! You two did it again. That was a tough one but the views were amazing but that's Colorado.

Great video Nick, nice scenery. I don't know how your mom managed this tough hike, she's amazing.

Downloading this! Iron Mountain has long tempted me with it's blushed red evening glow, deepening to merlot and as the sun descends through the valley and the vast open of North Park. It's the last mountain to go dark as viewed from the Crags campground, and it is aptly named. I have no idea how to get up there. Your videos are helpful as always. Thank you Nick.

Does your mom ever say, "Nick what did you get me into?" I've thought that on a number of your more challenging treks together. Your descent looked steeper than your assent, by viewing the map you showed. Great day, video and hard hike! I hope you get some snow hikes in before you leave for the winter. We finally made it to Jasper Lake about 10 days ago. I thought we'd have to wait until next year. Of course now I've got to see it when it's not winter conditions. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hahaaa, yes, I have said things similar to that…..like “This has reached a point where it’s not fun anymore!” LOL. This was one tough hike though, I must say!

Wow, that was a beautiful hike! Not sure if it was the lightening or your GoPro but the video was stunning! You two did a great job! Looks like you got that hike just in time to, the snow is on its way!

Thanks Lauren. We drove all the way down 14 to Seven Utes Mountain looking for the best hike with the least amount of snow. I think we chose about the only route that didn't have much. But the snow is here now!

I descended roughly the way you took once. If you want another Iron Mountain variation, my favorite is to start at Cameron Pass as you did, but instead of the road, head due east and bushwhack up a steep but not too-bad hillside towards high point ~11350', then once above treeline, take the ridge towards the southeast over "Table Iron" (12040') and then to Iron Mountain. It avoids extreme steepness and you get views most of the day above treeline.

@@alquinn8576 That sounds like a sweet route! I will have to try it someday.

Do you think a subaru could make it up the gravel road near the beginning of the video?

It should but I don't know if you can drive on that road. It might only be open for bikes and hiking.
