@@DerekSarnoChef I really appreciate it. I eat a lot of greens -- both raw and cooked - but inevitably I waste a decent amount now that I'm cooking for one. It's hard to buy enough stuff to make a proper salad without needing 4 people to eat it all. Of course I could sautee or braise them for leftovers but sometimes I'm too lazy. Last week I had some arugula, spinach, some other green I forget that all needed to be used soon. I did the hot water blanch, squeeze and then at the last second treating it like that one korean side and doing a bunch of sesame oil etc. It was good! A little odd to have the arugula flavor in there but not in a bad way. Better than wasting them for sure. Anywhoo thanks for showing that method -- my green wastage will be a lot less going forward.
Love these quick and easy ones that don't have tons of ingredients. All easy stuff to find at any shop. I'm not much of a cook and I've never really enjoyed cooking, but your channel is helping to change that. Thank you!

This may sound tangential and unrelated but does anyone remember reading the Once and Future King? Re'reading it in particular the Sword in the Stone; Arthur learns about the animal kingdom 1st hand. My mum, a holocaust survivor, healed herself (my dad also my hero) through a menagerie she accumulated, and memorably, Petunia, a baby raccoon who fell down the chimney who she fed with an eye dropper. My Dad's great love Caesar a Chow Husky cross instantly assumed she was a kind of puppy and she would ride around on his back. (Also hide people's keys etc.) We were able to release her into the wild at friends's rural property; she would arrive at the back door her little ones in tow. I don;'t mean this to be anthropormorphic, only we all have a lot to learn and be grateful for, Derek tx as always.
Bless you again and again for doing such simple dishes at times. It is so hot here in BC Canada and that is about the only dish I can muster with the burner on a short time. I love how you set up play dates for Frankie. So great to have a dog around another to play!! Thank you Derek!
The different music in the video was a nice touch! It’s been cool to see your skill and creativity in making videos grow to match the level of the awesome food you make, what you do is truly appreciated 👍
Brilliant as usual. Loving the greens and beans - definitely going to have this for supper this week. Also, still laughing at you watering the plants in the rain - so British. I go out everyday and water my plants no matter what the weather.
Love this. Looks delicious, and the fact that you can make more at once and have a bunch of meals ready to go for later makes it even better! On another note, looks like British humour is contagious; Frankie and you made the best enactment of Anne from Arizona's tip! 😄
This is amazing. I needed a pick me up last Sunday. The smokey paprika with a little heat is amazing with Collard greens! Loved the white beans and sauce.
I always learn something from your videos, and today I learned to hook my tongs through one of the Le Creuset handles. Who needs a potholder when you can use tongs, LOL?!? Brilliant!
I always use my extra water in the garden. Great for saving water. Even when I clean my juicer I get a bin, put it in the sink, wash the juicer parts and the water goes to the garden. 🌻
That looks like the best reboot! I’m doing that today! After a long period of uncontrolled blood pressure and two small strokes, I looked to greens this week. Lots of greens! Not as much as you just did though. Despite medication and a WFPB diet (not stably), the BP was not recovering but the greens dropped my BP Immediately shifting down 30-40 points overnight and everyday since! Using your tips my way of cooking got me to truly enjoy eating plants only. I am doing much tastier meals, layering with grilled veggies, lots of garlic, sautéing, black pepper in larger quantity, and my food is wickedly delicious! I want to do the red cabbage and peas you cooked on your retreat. It looks amazing. I have your cookbook but have not gotten past the introduction, jumping right into creating better food from your videos. Thank you for sharing your talent and spiritual journey.
Mr Derek, I have to thank you. I got put on a lower potassium diet that ruled out many of my favorite healthy foods. Today I made kale (which I thought I hated) but following your guidance I made it and it was good! So thanks to you I can live without spinach and chard!!!
Made this today with collards. EXCELLENT! I was skeptical because the ingredients were so simple but it truly is in the technique. Browning off that tomato paste added so much flavor! Now I'm on the hunt for the pan he used so I can see all of that browned tomato paste goodness 😉
So good....I will make this. Also, such a good reminder to take the time to put the water out in the parched landscape. Giving water is an act of kindness, if it is given as an offering, it will make your day more sacred. Many thanks.

Absolutely love this recipe! I've even modified it slightly for speed. After watching video a couple of times I got the idea to slice thin Chinese cabbage, add to a bowl, add garlic/seasoning (in my case French Thyme), tad of salt/pepper/avocado oil then some of the hot pasta water. Stir quickly, added some hot pasta, pickled fire roasted tomatoes and air fried soy curls. Stirred good and viola' delicious! Thank you Derek for all of your creative ideas.
