Good Morning Folks! We have a new Video! Part 1 of 3 different outings. Spent a week Overlanding in some pretty scenic places, So enjoy! Thank You for all the support! Larry
Hey Zach! I'm not sure if that's a good thing, I'm close to the folks/regulars. I pray I can keep up the personal connection! It means a lot to me. They're family! 👨👩👧👦👨👩👧👦
Hi Larry Glad to see you’re doing well. Really enjoy your traveling in the time capsule, haha. It’s amazing to see some of the challenges you put that bus to. Thanks for your time and effort, we all really enjoy. Happy trails:-)
So awesome! I’m so sick of everyone in their fancy unrealistic $100,000 dollars rigs! I mean where’s the adventure? I like the way you are doing it, I had a 1969 VW Westy and people don’t know how capable these vans are over any terrain even without 4 wheel drive, just keeping them running is trick.
Hi Larry, thanks for another great video. I love the "cofee time" inside the bus, very cozy. What a amazing place to camp. You are lucky man to live in a such amazing country. Keep going my friend, and bring us with anothe Vintage Overland Adventure video as soon as possible. A huge hug my friend
Hi Larry, it's the treat of the day when you post another VOA video! Thank you for the printed shout out at the end, nice little surprise. Moody skies at times & no surprise what a vintage V.W. can do! Hope the new year finds you well.
@@VintageOverlandAdventures Getting more and more comfortable after each little project. Super busy atm, I'm on standby to go work the LA fires. Hopefully get some time for editing soon...
Wrll that was a bit more than the doctor ordered and i reckon that rain was the desert telling you to turn back. it must have been fun in the early 1900s when the old fallers pushed through with a pick and shovel and a lot of elbow grease. Looking foward to the next one Larry
Love your bus. No windows, the best Someone down the street from where I live has a crew cab looks the same condition as yours been wanting to ask him about it
Really appreciate your videos, you have such a cool VW bus and the scenery is awesome. I had to look up that Huskey Memorial, pretty interesting place and story. Hope you get back out ok, thats a rough road for sure. An hey, thanks for the mention! 🤠
Howdy Brother Larry and Happy New Year to ya !! I trust and pray that the fire in your area didn't effect you. What a terrible event ! Real nice adventure and great work with the cameras. You really have it wired down. Looking forward to the next release ! That Magic Old Bus sounds really good. Take care, stay healthy safe and warm
Hey Brother Chris! Happy New Year! (Fires) - It's pretty bad on the otherside of the mountains. On the Desert side we're ok. The winds out of the North equals Santa Ann Winds for the West. The Bus is happy! 😉
Yo Larry, great to see another adventure, feeling much better now I hope. Listen, I was thinking, have you ever read a book called, 'Hunting the Desert whale'? by Earl Stanley Gardner. He was famous for writing the scripts for Perry Mason. BUT in the 1950's and 60's he used to take himself off to Baja, in jeeps and anything else he could find, even 2wd motorcycles called 'Tote Goats'.and take a few friends. I'm not talking luxury cabins, I mean camping, roughing it. He said ''every now and then, a man needs to go adventuring '. Shipwrecks, beachcombing, crossing lagoons, finding the whales, exploding cactus , It really is a fascinating book, maybe hard to get now, 1960's I guess, but do search it out, you will love it i know. Cheers Larry.
Double YO! That sounds like my cup of tea! I had a friend that rode a 2wd Motocycle from Ballarat to Panamint City the last weekend the trail was open. I'll look on eBay for 'Hunting the desert Whale book" or Google search it. Thanks!
Hey Stumpy, sorry for eavesdropping, there's a great book about Baja by John Steinbeck, "Log From the Sea of Cortez" (1951) about his adventures in 1940. Good read. I'm gonna check out Earl Gardner's book, too, thanks. Tim in AK. 👍
Hey Pack Mule! I use the late-style (Dog House) oil cooler, which does a great job of keeping the third cylinder cool! The engine has stock compression and runs smoothly during regular use. When the temperature hits 105°F or higher, I make sure to take it easy to keep everything happy. With the 87mm pistons, I’m careful not to let the pistons and cylinders overheat. I usually cruise at around 55 mph. I've been enjoying air-cooled VWs since 1981, and I’m proud to say I've never lost a cylinder! Of course, I’ve dealt with dropped valves and had the oil light flicker on some high-mileage engines. Thanks for stopping by the channel and I really appreciate your great question!
Thanks for the rain Brother Bob! I was shocked to hear it hitting the roof. It startled me. The last place you want to be is in a desert canyon when it starts to rain. Give me a little heads up next time! 😂🤙
@@VintageOverlandAdventures Probably more China Lake NAS. , we where coming back form Barstow (in a 58 VW bus) heading west, we took Santa Fe ave, to Harper dry lake then dirt roads heading toward Red Mountain and came across the b-1 cash site memorial. I probably couldn't find it again if I had to.
Hello Doug - Guessing, To keep folks on the trail and to lock it if there is any flood damage after a storm, The other end had a zig-zag maze fence to get out. There is a couple operating mines in the canyon as well. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your offer Auxbeam, I’m happy with the junk I have. But … if you have a 12 volt rotating Disco Ball 🪩 for the cabin I would be interested. 🙂🤙 I heard it’s all the rave!

Yeah, that memorial is powerful. It was getting dark and I had to get out of there.
Fast 😬
I cannot believe the "trails" you drive on in that vintage vehicle! I have a Ram van and would never attemp this stuff!
All my years watch these videos and have never seen one of this place.
No Brasil temos muitas dessas se aventurando. Sucessos

Those folks who travel west in the late 1800s are tough as nails! Prayers to the loads that lost their lives to make a better go at life! 🙏
Looks like a great time.
Thanks for watching! It was a blast.

Ok, new to the channel question... how do you keep oil cool and not overheat Cylinder #3? That motor was notorious for chewing up #3 pistons in heat.
Hey Pack Mule!

@ good deal. It's been decades but I vividly remember pulling a motor with a holed #3. Rock on! It was my brothers bus and it was about 1974.
Hey Larry..... Did you like the rain I sent over.... thought I'd share seeing as we've got so much over here 🤣
Looking good brother 🤙
Thanks for the rain Brother Bob!

Hey…don’t know if you’ve seen, but Vans shoes came out with a limited edition EMPI model. Pick up a pair before they’re gone!!
Only if they're chrome! 😎
It looks like you were over by the B-1 crash site, it's a small memorial. It's been years since I've been there.
Hey Kevin, North of that site. US Air Force Property?
