I never even realized how good this album was until it forced be understand. that's the cool thing about true artistic genius... first, because you aren't used to this new forward-thinking idea, you reject it. you try to stay in the safe zone, your comfort zone. but then, as the beauty in it becomes so looming and everpresent that you cant keep it out of your mind, you return to it. then, after giving it time to get to introduce itself, you truly become one with it and what it stands for. that, all that, is what Yeezus taught me. TL;DR, moozik guud.
BRO the crazy thing is on my first faze(when it came out) of listening to the album I was already a big fan of 808's and heartbreak I loved it but I couldn't understand it even though I knew it had a deeper meaning to it I was 14 at that time. Then when the Yeezus tour happened and even if I didn't go to it I listened to his interviews and speeches it really started to structure the album story for me but I couldn't put it in my top five until Ye came out and know with seeing Kanye's whole life as a story it makes it top 5 for me. Actually many people would agree with me but it is top 3 for me lol I love it sooo much it has changed me a lot seeing bacck my life I wouldn't know what type of life I would have seeing how kanye has changed my life.
Someone said, People never get the flowers while they could still smell. For how little it might mean I would like to say great job on the podcast looking forward to the next album
before death grips fans arrive, comparing yeezus to a death grips album is an insult to Arca, Evian Christ, Daft Punk, Hud Mo, Brodinski, etc., who all did spectacular production on this album that stands very comfortably in its own lane.
Fr ppl hear one noisy/abrasive thing and say it’s exactly the same as another. Says more abt them not being able to properly listen to music beyond that. Yeezus is v clearly Chicago/European acid house and dancehall influenced whereas Death Grips is much more psychedelic/industrial rock influenced
Honestly, I am a Ye and DG fan. I love both of the album's for what they are doing. Ye did not invent industrial HH and you can argue neither did DG. They are both artist's that have created beautiful pieces of art and we should just appreciate the fact they exist. Much love to everyone following this amazing podcast
This album is what first got me into experimental music. I still remember the teenage me couldnt believe music could sound like this at that time. Literally a life changing sound for me.
The visuals and editing on this video are amazing😩 This season was the bomb honestly, thank you so much cole and the dissect team! This podcast deserves alll the hype
Such a dope video! After listening to this season I almost envision this as a movie. After you listen to Guilt Trip you think you know you’re headed towards a resolution and then Send It Up hits you. Then you start to think well this character isn’t going to figure it out. Then you hear Bound 2 where he does find his equal and what he needs. Then right before the song ends it’s almost like in horror movies when you think you’ve killed the bad guy and he opens his eyes and the movie ends. That’s how I feel after Kanye is saying “Bound” at the end of the song as in stuck with. What a great album.
Don’t know what impressed me more; your ability to break down with such in-depth understanding the album, or the amazing mind of artists like Kanye to create so beautifully and intentionally
Hi Cole! I've been a fan of your podcasts since you released the Kendrick season and just found out you had a TH-cam channel. Loving the animation and editing along with your awesome analysis (as always). I love that you included the "you ain't got the answers Sway" clip. Super excited for the new season!
I always considered Yeezus to be a masterpiece. In my opinion its sound scenery is amazing. Over 10 years since its release, I have just watched this video and am blown away by this additional artistic layer that I was never aware of! This lifts the album to a whole new level. My mouth is still open from that revelation!! Great video!
yeezus is the album that turned me into kanye's big fan. when i first heard of this album i thought that this album was way ahead of its time, like pharrell's the neptunes in the 90s
Bruh we need more of these full videos!! Thes last few minutes when you explained bound made me tear up bro. So beautiful, then the last clip of Kanye talking about putting himself at risk….. 😭🤦🏾♂️ beautiful video man
im making this comment now before you blow up, been listening to the podcast since the 2nd season ,it's amazing to see that you're hard work and dedication has successfully transferred to youtube and tiktok, please keep at it Cole, you are a one of a kind creator.
When my English teacher explains a book lol but really this is amazing and so glad you spent the time that went into creating this. This is a masterpiece.
Yeah me too, I listened to it once very shortly but it was a bit too overwhelming and weird for me. This insight about the meaning will change the way it will sound for me I think

This is great! The perfect way to end this season. I’ll picture these images when I listen to future and past seasons, it’s like a window into how Cole breaks down the music, awesome season 👍🏻
People critique Kanye for his lack of depth and wack bars on some tracks but the thing is, Kanye creates art through sound. Other artists create art through their words like Kendrick, and he's incredible at it, but Kanye just expresses himself in a different way and deserves more recognition for it.

Yeezus plays like the variations of a bipolar mind as well. Made 3 years before he got diagnosed so I doubt it was intentional. Kanye has always been raw and unfiltered with his music so it comes through in the vibe and extreme variation. I'm bipolar too, this album is a masterpiece on so many levels.
Hated Yeezus the first few listens, people kept telling me it was amazing so I kept going back to it because I loved all of his other albums. Slowly but surely I began to appreciate the album and now I feel like every note slaps harder than the one before that
you should do one about donda. for example the heartbeat at the beginning is her dying bcos thats what a heartbeat and a name are, and then her going through to heaven and kanye going to his lowest point at the beginning of hurricane

I still remember how people hated Yeezus and especially bound 2 back in 13. WAY AHEAD OF HIS TIME!
"they give is what we need, it may not be what we want"
It wasn't ahead of it's time because it heavily borrowed from a lot of artists in the underground at the time.
