This is the album that made me a Kanye fan. I love it. While I understand the mainstream’s disapproval of this album, I don’t understand fans of Kanye’s disappointment. I’ve heard some say that Kanye is following the crowd instead of setting the pace. Which I find odd considering you can easily see him going in this direction following (if indirectly) 808s. The track are so visceral and raw and powerful. It has so much emotion in each track. Again, I love it.

Yeezus has one of Kanye's best songs, Hold My Liquor, as well as some of the greatest audio storytelling while still leaving the possibility open to the listener not knowing they are being told a story, which I did not for a LONG time. Absolutely amazing, underrated album that showcases the greatness of his artistry. I think people don't like it because of the experimentation he used with certain sound packs, like the Lazer beams and things of that nature, that, for me, on the other hand, cause me to respect the artistry he put into the music even more because of how difficult it would be to make songs with those specific sound packs.

if you really think about it yeezus is yet another massively influential album along the likes of 808s and heartbreak which had and will influence generations and generations of artists, it was the wave of melodic rap and 808s type production with 808s and heartbreak and now people want to adopt the dark vibe and being a rockstar or punk just like yeezus had done. it all comes full circle man, ye just has mind blowing amounts of influence on hip hop.

    • @Prodbyjah464

Fax, without this album playboi carti and wlr wouldn’t even exist. This man was doing punk and stuff similar to cartis narcissist tour intros 9 years before it was even accepted, always been ahead of his time

    Bruh... This jawn bodied.
Yezzuz is the transition between Ye seeking identity in God, the anguish of that conflict and the confusion there in. And how love can calm the savage beast. Thanks dude, you made me appreciate this and 808's and heartbreaks more.
I think part of the reason people don't "rock" with Ye so well outside of his misunderstood opinionation, that dude ain't necessarily controllable. He follows his heart.
College dropout ye, yezzuz ye, Donda ye and Jesus is king ye are like pokemon evolutions. Same core person, but constantly evolving 😊. Thanks again dude, this was a dope breakdown.

    You got a new sub.
Kanye is one of my favorite, more conflicted, yet vulnerable and talented artists.
Thanks for the breakdowns, because he is also one of the least understood.
Ye' is like beer, an acquired taste that you either wish for more of, or just don't want anything to do with, yet can't deny his influence.
With that stated, thanks for these video essays, and 🍻

From an artistic standpoint, Yeezus holds more value than MBDTF. MBDTF just gave the fans what they wanted to hear, but Yeezus is something he REALLY wanted to make.
But in my personal opinion I would rather listen to MBDTF and I think Yeezus is just decent despite having an incredible story throughout the album. Hell I’m not even all that big on MBDTF either. I prefer his College trilogy and maybe 808s too.

8:28 What? Yeezus dominated end of the year top album lists, ending up at number one in many lists - and was almost universally praised by critics upon release. Gaurdian named it the 17th or 18th greatest album of the 21st century. Rolling Stones had it pretty high up too on it's top 500 albums ever list.
It was mostly just the fans that wanted another College Dropout that disliked this album
