Just curious why you didnt clean the basket before mounting it to the motor? That would make it so you don't need to tape off the coil gap...
Lots harder to clean it when it can move vs using a few pieces of tape and the weight of the motor keeps it down
Pro tip, clean the basket before mounting on motor and always get a popsicle stick/ that will fit in the gap and put tape/ sticky side out and insert in the gap then blow out with air then tape the gap. And for the love of God when regluing the cone/ spider put glue smooth and flush/ coat basket 100% #WorkSmarterNotHarder

I love having the ability to do this and the understanding that comes along with it. Question - how does this compare with the cost of buying a new sub? Let’s say just rebuilding vs replacing - without changing the size. I’m guessing if you have the knowledge to rebuild it would save $$. Correct?
It its generally much much cheaper to buy a broken sub and rebuild it. In my personal vehicle I bought 8 sundown zv5 motors and baskets and fixed them myself. Got them all for less than half what they would have been new. So i always recommend reconning or rebuilding if you can
