Paula Gooder is a gifted teacher. Her exposition of the date of composition of Mark's Gospel is valuable; also her description of how the eyewitness testimony in Mark is the eyewitness testimony of Peter. Mark served as an aid and interpreter for Peter for several years before Peter was executed by the Romans after the Fire of Rome in 64 AD. For more on this check out Dr. Richard Bauckham, Jesus and the Eyewitnesses. Also my historical novel, Mark's Passion, may be helpful. It is the story of Mark the Evangelist and how he put the Gospel in writing. Gene Vanderzanden, author of Mark's Passion.

23:30: ON the Messianic Secret: Something just struck as obvious, listening to you (Paula) talk about sending out the disciples without all the facts, so to speak, and that is a marked difference (no pun intended) between declaring the kingdom of God (The message of Jesus) and the Messiahship of God (the message about Jesus). Jesus began his ministry in Mark with a declaration of the Kingdom of God before calling a single disciple or performing a single miracle or exorcism. There appears to be a distinction between the two to be considered. It is this type of (literary/theological) complexity that makes Mark my favorite Gospel.
They’re all parts of the one and only gospel. They’re all the good news of God and intertwined. However firstly the gospel was the understanding that the long awaited Jewish “Kingdom of God”, (a future time where God would raise his Messiah David’s descendant to Kingship, restore Israel’s sovereignty, resurrect the dead, and bring peace, knowledge of God and judgement to the entire world) was almost here. Jesus came saying “Hey guess what, the times here, the Kingdoms right around the corner”
