There is even internal evidence that Mark intended to end his Gospel abruptly without an appearance of the risen Lord. For example, in Matthew and Luke the Jewish leaders demand a sign and Jesus says, "You will receive no sign, except for the sign of Jonah," hinting at how Jesus will be swallowed up by Death and then come out again alive. However, in Mark's Gospel, Jesus simply says, "You will not receive a sign PERIOD!" That is a good indication from the text itself that we won't get the "sign of Jonah" from Mark. Then, the man in the tomb says that Jesus is risen, just as he told you. Mark doesn't want us to believe on account of sight, but he wants us to believe the words of Jesus. He asks us, "Do you believe what Jesus said or do you demand a sign?"

Let's think about what you are saying for a moment. Are you equating Mark's report about Jesus' resurrection with the actual resurrection, as if writing about the resurrection of Christ would be the same as providing the sign itself? Is reporting a miracle the same as performing a miracle? No it is not.

Have you been drinking Ehrmanade or something? I am well aware that many scholars claim that Mark 16:9-20 was added later. I contend that they are wrong, and that these 12 verses were added while the text was still in production. Also, what *evidence* do you have for the claim that the Gospels were written anonymously? Saying that the Gospels weren't given names until the 100's is like saying that we don't have any evidence about the titles of the Gospels until the time when we have manuscripts of the beginnings of the Gospels or slightly earlier.
Anthony Griffin, Well that didn't sound arrogant at all, did it. The earliest manuscripts that have the beginnings of the Gospels have the named Matthew, Mark, Luke and John included in their titles. The "They were anonymously written" line is rubbish. Show me some hard evidence for it. Show me some tradition of any kind that would take us in some other direction. We both know you cannot, and we both know why: such evidence doesn't exist. Again I recommend that you rethink your view about the end of Mark. Try reading commentaries that do more than just regurgitate Metzger's obsolete Textual Commentary. Please.

The Bible is hard to understand because it is Bronze Age fiction loaded with contradictions.
The Bible cartoons are not reality.
They can simulate reality using electrical impulses so the producer can make anything appear real to the viewer.
I found the new American standard bible . Game changer !! Translates it into modern English and not ye old Victorian English so makes it much easier to follow

At our church we have a man's Monday night bible study, that we just started, and we each take a turn to lead a season. So I have watched this twice to help me understand Mark better. Thank You Bible project for all of your great work.

I truly love these summaries. I thank God for this ministry. Before I read another book of scripture, I'll stop by here for the summary and then again when I'm finished. I love the presentation. The clean graphics always help to solidify the book in my mind.
Just started studying the Bible this week after going back to church last November, we started with the Book of Mark, to see it animated like this makes it so easy to understand, thanks & bless you.
Thank you. I think this will be my favorite chapter of their Bible as it’s my first read. I felt so bad for Peter in the end when he realized that Jesus had predicted his denial with the crowing 2x… the pain must have been like no other. I cried for an hour when I read this. I feel like such a sinner and am so grateful that there if hope that I can be forgiven. But I don’t know if I can accept this gift cause I don’t know if I believe in God and Jesus Christ I am still finding my faith. Pray for me 🙏🏼 I never asked for that before.

Had to have been so amazing to see him in action. In he was so far ahead of them that even in the stories he shows his frustration when he asked them why don't they hear his words. I can imagine the frustration that he felt. But I think that shows you can't help people that aren't asking for help. Which sucks but that's just how it is.

Pretty good. I'm loving all these summaries. The broad overview really helps with gaining insights. Otherwise, because there's so much; it can get awfully confusing before one barely gets started.

That’s the point, he was perfect, the sin of the world corrupted human nature and our hearts, Yeshua (Jesus) came to it only show us how to live, but to take up the sins we couldn’t pay for (our transgressions)
Of course He is good,because He is God incarnate. Poor? HARDLY! He suffered willingly to bridge the gap made from the fall of man that separates us from God. That’s worthy of praise!

"Earliest traditions" is another way of saying "legend". 0:07 We first hear of the Gospel's possible authorship from Papias of Hierapolis, who says that Mark wrote the deeds of Jesus. He mentions this in the 2nd century, generations after Mark was first written. Papias also seems to know that this Mark wrote EVERYTHING he heard about Jesus, which is unlikely given the brevity of the gospel. Mark is mentioned a second time much later in the 2nd century by Irenaeus, who was influenced by Papias. Thus, we "know" the authorship from a single, very questionable late-in-the-game source.
