    Having read much & listened to Paula Gooder, my understanding has been hugely enhanced. She knows her subject so thoroughly & her communication of that expertise, both in writing & here on TH-cam is easy, fluid & second to none. Thank you so much for these interviews.

    Paula, you make the Gospel of John very intriguing by your comprehensive introduction of this gospel that remains an eternal mine of golden insights about
    who Jesus is for those who are enlightened by his word.

    "These discourses are hard to read.... they meander all over the place and return to the start." LOL! In 2000, I was diagnosed with A.D.D. (too lazy to have A.D.H.D., I suppose :) ). Maybe that is why the Gospel of John is actually easier for me to read. He writes the way I think! In fact, I love his Gospel so much that, when I was Confirmed, I took the name of John. IMHO, the Gospel of Mark was a HUGE influence on the Gospel of John. I also do not believe John was influenced by Greek philosophy/theology but was, instead, writing to Essenes who who became Christians. John's Passover is according to the Essene calendar, which is why the Last Supper falls is a different day than the Synoptics. Meanwhile, Ignatius of Antioch, a disciple of John, not only claimed John wrote the Gospel, but Ignatius had his own copy he would show anyone who wanted to see it. Also, the "Thunder" in "Sons of Thunder" refers to John and James' father, Zebedee, who may have been known for losing his temper.

    If you recognize that the use of this gospel begins with the gnostic. Than the us of it lead directly to agnosticism and never to the original teachings of jesus.

    Do you think John portrayed Jesus as God and would have accepted the doctrine of the Trinity

    • @kamelalhassani4609
      @kamelalhassani4609 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      He is portrayed as an animal not as god. A lamb.

    • @Monkofmagnesia
      @Monkofmagnesia 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that the Gospel is the reason Christians have the concept of the Trinity.

      @@MonkofmagnesiaThe Trinity Is a Pagan concept, it has nothing to do with the gospel. The holy spirit is not mentioned as God, there is no hint of a God in tree persons, it is only the invention of the philosophers fathers.

    • @Monkofmagnesia

      @@kamelalhassani4609 I do not see anything in my above statement that claims the Trinity to be a fact. All I stated is that , without John's Gospel, the Christians would not be able to have a defense of Triinity. I can tell by your response that you know that the Hindis have had the concept of a Trinty about 1000 years longer than Christianity, and, because of exposure to Hinduism via the trade routes, Christians leanred about it. The Gospel of John made it easier for earl Christianity to come up with their idea of Trinity in order for them to maintain that they are monotheists

    I love your lecture. As a Christian led by the Holy Spirit to a neighboring Church and lovely followers, I am in no way the TRUTHFULNESS of the Bible, even though I was led to an Evangelical Church in which all members are East Africans, Eritreans and Ethiopians, with a pastor of an Ethiopian. Teachings are in the Amharic language.

      If you love God, simply trust in him for the truth and pray to him for it. If you seek with all your heart, and pray for it with everything you've got, and somehow, for some reason you don't get it what could God possibly say to you. Unless your own personal sin kept you from it, you have been a berean in every way possible. You did all you could do. "For those who believe in God MUST believe that HE IS, AND that he is a REWARDER of THOSE THAT SEEK HIM DILLIGENTLY" "Does any among you lack wisdom(understanding)? LET HIM ASK OF GOD, for God finds NO FAULT in such a request and gives this FREELY and LIBERALLY to ALL" ....God is good

    Any gosoel can not give us the accurate informations about Jesus period becouse it is written much later after that period. The gospel according to John was written about 100 years after Christ.

      Everybody who knows something about the histoty of religion can check the historical facts. The gospel according to Mark is first written about 65-70 c.a. Following are gpspels according to Matthew and Luke 70-90 c.a. The gospel according to Jogn was written about 100 year c.a. There are also more gospels, they are not in the Bible, only tjese for are in the Bible, depending of human decisions.
