Thank you for the detailed review. I just received my ShiftCam progrip and am excited to try it out.
I have the grip and love it. It’s very comfortable and functional. One problem I have is that the adapter for the hand strap does not have an actual 1/4 20 thread and to mount it to a tripod the strap adapter has or be removed. A minor, but annoying issue.

Thanks for the nice presentation about the Shift Cam. I purchased mine over a year ago and it has been sitting. Now that I have a nice trip coming up I have found that it will be very useful. For the in-case lens mount, they mention it works with 'most', but not all. Theres no specific list, I tried with my silicone transparent case, and it worked fine. But I would say if you can buy a case from Shiftcam website themselves, that might be better.

You specify your phone model and send the case that you use to attach to it accordingly :)

Thank you for a great video presentation of the product. I reached out to ShiftCam who confirmed that they don't currently make Lens filters however Freewell do. So I'm thinking I could use the ShiftCam Grip with a Freewell case with a set of Freewell VND filers which would solve my problem, any ideas anyone?

Hi - thanks for your comment. Yes, it works with iPhone 13 Max as well. I don't think you need to remove the otterbox cover you have, you just simply put the lens attachment inside the cover and it should work fine, or use the universal lens attachment.

What’s the maximum 35 mm telephoto equivalent? This is the most common way to compare focal lengths.
I just started using my pro-grip 3-4 days ago and I'm absolutely loving it, they really nailed it with this product. I would wish for a bit more premium and softer shutter button, this feels plasticky and cheap, nothing like on any real camera would be. But given the overall package and considering the price I can live with that. They could also have designed a hole through the centre of the grip so that people could attach stuff like microphones via USB/lighting, that's another needless oversight.
Hoping for a slightly more premium v2 version, or perhaps even a second option (I'd be happy to shell out more cash for high end materials and mechanism for the shutter button).
I arrived at this video considering whether it makes sense to drop another 130 pounds on a lens kit + the universal adapter, but between some of the comments here and some of the (generally good) reviews on amazon I've been somewhat discouraged. The universal adapter seems to be causing issues even to people with iphones, and my mi 11 ultra's camera bump is pretty thick. I'm not sure how wise a fixed width design was really.
Anyone here has this and could actually measure (accurately) the max width the adapter can accommodate?
I cannot get iPhone cam to switch to use the lens I have attached my shift cam lens to. How can I do this?

This seems like an awesome product - and such a great review! I literally just dropped my iphone 12 pro into a lake accidentally last weekend. Hired a diver to retrieve it hours later and it works just fine still. lol So now I’m wondering, does the shiftcam grip have anything on it that I could attach a lanyard / neck strap to? So I don’t launch it into a large body of water again? 😂
Oh sorry to hear that you dropped your phone into a lake 😂 - but glad you got a diver to get it out haha.
The strap for the hand grip is there to prevent it from slipping out already, but if you want to replace that with a lanyard, then that would be possible, yes.
Is it compatible with other lenses like moment or sandmarc??? Thanks and congratulations for the video.
I've not tried other lenses, but if you buy a lens from these manufacturers, they should provide a lens mount for iPhone or specific phone models, and then you just simply use your phone with the Shiftcam ProGrip.
How would you compare the Shiftcam lenses you used here to the equivalent moment lenses
I actually haven't tried the Moment lenses but I would reckon both would be equally as good as each other.

One question to the ProLens 18mm Wide Angle and 60mm Telephoto. the Background of the most photos I've taken are some kind of blurred or distortion. Is this normal? Appreciate your feedback. Hi Michael - They definitely shouldn't be distorted. I presume you are using iPhone 12? Do you have them connected to the right main wide lens on your iphone?

@@michaelburri3581 I just got the 18mm and 60mm for iPhone 13 Pro. There is horrible blur and distortion on both. And in some cases the 60mm messes with the exposure. Glad I'm not the only one. Did you return yours? I likely will return mine unless there are massive shipping fees because I got these direct from their website which ships out of Hong Kong. Anyone reading this, I highly recommend you order ShiftCam from Amazon, not direct.
Also, when I test shot with the ShiftCam lenses I used the Lightroom app to ensure I had the lenses on the right iPhone lenses. Super disappointed. I Came back to this review to study the images and notice the split screen crops the sides. That's helpful for comparison, but I'm guessing it might hide blurriness and distortion. Not intentionally, because I don't see affiliate links here. Please leave my comment so others are informed. I'm going to just rely on the built in iPhone lenses. They are really nice.
Hey, just chiming in that, to my eye, in the comparison photos, the lenses made everything look just a touch SOFT. IPhone images consistently looked better. Which is why for me I’d not want to invest in these lenses. The grip is a great idea though. Love that and you could be cheeky and use that grip with a Moment case and lenses. I need to go back and to my own comparisons with Moment again too for that matter. I think it’s healthy to be skeptical about add-on lenses because you’re adding on to a finely tuned and integrated system (where the software of the phone is working in very close harmony with the hardware). Adding a 3rd party piece of hardware on top of the lenses seems like you could easily introduce issue where you end up mucking up what the software is doing. Sounds like that is the case from other reviewers.

No not at all. Once you have the lens attached to the main lens, just open the camera app and its all up and running. It's perfect!

Do you have the issue of the other lens on the 13 pro max engaging whe the lens is attached to the other camera?
Use the Lightroom app or something similar where you can force which lens the phone uses.
Trying to decide if the bulk is just too much.
Are there any somewhat useful similar designs but smaller in size. When out on an adventure and don’t need for a time being where do you put it. Doesn’t seem pocketable.
I know there are plenty of alternatives on Amazon, but I haven't tried them. You'll have to do some research on the sizes, but I would say most of them won't be pocket friendly. That's the main problem I found with it also - so I put it in a little strap bag when I went out and wasn't using it for a while.
I just got mine. Love the look and feel but it's not working with my Samsung 21 Ultra. Shutter button changes magnification but doesn't take picture.

Does it support iPhone 6? The iPhone 6 softwares is no longer supported by Apple but the camera features still works.
If your iPhone 6 can still connect to Bluetooth enabled devices, then I see why not!

I have set this up exactly as you outline and i cant force the iPhone to use the camera that the lens is attached to. I have tried multiple lenses and no luck. I think I had this problem, but as far as I'm aware, you can only use the Shift Lenses with only the Primary Lens on your iPhone, and not the Telephoto or Ultrawide lenses on your iPhone.

Only reason was I pre-ordered it when it started crowd funding, because at that stage it was in development, and not production. But now it's in public release, it shouldn't take more than a few weeks.

Yeah a little bit, but not completely. I wouldn't use the grip if you want to record audio along with your videos.
When would you not want audio with video? This aspect is so disappointing. A major design flaw.
I have a problem using the shiftcam prolens on my iphone 13 pro max. when i attach a pro lens, it keep on shifting from working and not working. my viewfinder shows the lens attached and sometimes the pro lens works. do i need to use another camera app for the pro lens to really work because it seems that it does not completely work with the iphone camera
Do you happen to change the zoom levels on your phone app? For example, with it set to main 1x focal length, do you pinch to zoom in/out or press the ultra wide/telephoto buttons?

I think they are only taking orders from their Indigogo page, which is where I ordered from - I ordered from when it was a concept, but not sure how long it will take to arrive. I think based on other users comments, delivery may take anywhere up to 4 weeks or so.

Just attach your lens to the main iPhone lens - theres no need to switch because you should use the primary iphone lens to take photos with whatever shift lens you've attached.
There's a new version called Snap grip. It's smaller and not as bulky. The strap is gone. And uses magsafe. It's a bit of a downgrade. Few reviews right now.

Grip is very strong. I could swing the phone around in circles and it won't fall out at all. Sometimes it takes a bit of force to even push it inside the grip, which is a good sign of its strength.

I would say this. It’s generally very secure (just unboxed one and am testing), but I would also just say it’s something you’d want to be aware of. If you bumped into somebody or something as you were holding it (perhaps focusing very heavily on your shot) it could get pushed out. I picked mine up over a soft surface and shook it vigorously (using the shift cam case which I believe adds better grip than bare phone…more friction) and it did not budge. I trust it a quite a bit more than a magsafe connection for sure. I’m also just paranoid about any connection that isn’t a wrap around clamp with a screw down connection (like some phone clamps).

Yep! On their website, it says its compatible with most smartphones including iPhone, Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus.

If you buy the photography kit, it has a universal lens attachment, which will work with ANY phone. So you won't need to buy the 'In Case' Lens Mount. Win win!

1. Does this have IBS built into the shiftcam or does the stabilization come from the iPhone itself? Also, is there a zoom button or do I still need to zoom in and out with the screen? I noticed that when you used the wireless charging it worked in portrait but when you changed it to landscape, the charging stopped. Is that the case? Also I didn’t hear anything about the size of the shiftcams battery MAH size. Is the unit waterproof or water resistant? Can you remove the phone from the cradle and use the the shiftcam as a remote to take pics or videos? Any clue on the range of the Bluetooth? Charging time? Is the wireless charger a fast charger? So many questions… need answers, lol.

Neither. It's just a 3rd party one from Amazon.

could you not mount a mic, use a 3.5 to usb-c adaptor and plug it into the usb-c port at bottom of the grip?
The problem is, the port of the iphone goes directly against the hand grip, so its not exposed to connect an adapter, therefore, a mic. But if you twist it and record in portrait, exposing the port, then yes, you can use a mic.
I have a question if the schifcam is worth the price?
It is quite expensive, but it feels very premium and I don't regret it for the price. But what I can say is that there are much cheaper alternatives on Amazon which do a similar job, but might not feel as good as how this one does.

I just got this yesterday. I have found it will not work for me because I need to hook up an external mic off the lightning port, and the unit is not designed to accommodate that. So, my total order the Shiftcam, Videography lens kit and Silicone case for iPhone 12 Pro Max. If anyone is interested in taking it off my hands, shoot me a message. By the way, this equipment is UNRETURNABLE unless it is damaged in some way when you receive it. They do not make this very obvious when you order it.

I know no DSLR which has only one click button. Even the point-and-shoot cameras have a few. If you want to say “DSLR-like”, you must have a few controls, such as zoom, compensation, etc.

Yep - you have it connected to the wrong iPhone lens. It should be over the main wide lens. Try re-position the Pro Lens over each of the lenses on your phone and you will find one that doesn't show that shadow (Also happened to me)

Claiming that it converts an "iPhone into a DSLR" (digital single-lens reflex) is a false or at the very least an inaccurate claim. Smartphone cameras are mirrorless.

Lol this does not turn your iPhone into a dslr. The sensor size will always be considerably smaller than your average dslr's, and current iPhones will never be able to create lots of true bokeh like a nice DSLR lens. It's not possible

Could I ask you when you ordered your stuff from when and when you got it? I ordered mine 9 days ago and i am only now seeing reports that a lot of people are not getting their items. The reviews on Trustpilot for the ShiftCam website are abysmal.
