@@thebombspayloadisexposed What? What kinda school do you go to? All of the teachers I know at least can dislocate their hips, both women and elders including the principal who does it quite often and is the best at it. There's one teacher who's strict af who is unwilling to do it because he is a tryhard when it comes to maintaining a straight back and posture, but even he turns his head nigh-180 degrees like an owl whilst simultaneously doing a 360 upside down breakdance to make it up for it

I like your choice of the word "decimate" here since the video's topic is the number 10 in football and the word's origin's are rooted in the latin word decem which means ten. Not sure if it was intentional but it was genius nontheless.

I feel like Mourinho has always used a #10 this way (Deco, Lampard, Sneijder, & Oscar) and pundits used to criticize his overly defensive tactics, but today it is now considered an innovative and integral role in the “modern game”. At inter for example, One full back joins the midfield or stays back (Zanetti) while the other overlaps as a creative winger (Maicon), and a #10 helps out defensively (Sneijder).

I think an important part in reinventing the 10 in a more free and creative way is what Thomas Müller achieved as a "Raumdeuter", exploring space in different parts of the pitch and maintaining a defensive presence. This style of play is now adapted by many Number 10 players in different variations. Müller really was the first completely "free" 10.

Kind of semantics really. In plenty of those 4-3-3s, one of the wingers often played more inside like a 10. This is still the case. Some years, depending on the coach and the players around him, Messi is probably more of a 10 than anything else. They never went away. Like a lot of things in football and modern life in general, the definitions simply became blurred.

Messi should be in this video :
    - He is the player who creates the most chances for Barcelona
    - Still the most goals for Barcelona and assist in a single season
    - He drops back for the ball just to deliver a pass to any forward
    - Sometimes he would start as a winger and then Griezmann would drift to the wing and Messi to the middle
    - On Guardiola he played as “False 9”, with Luis Enrique he went back as a right winger but with qualities that still make him a False 9 and could drift to the middle. Then with Valverde and onwards , he is more of a playmaker rather than a goalscorer.

Such as David Silva when he was in city. Plus Bernardo Silva As well, but as a more all rounded midfielder, who roams freely. Hakan from Milan still plays as a classical number 10, and I enjoy it a lot.

Does anybody actually know what the 'no. x' role actually means? I've tried to lookup the different positions before and there are loads of different concepts and variations of what they mean - It really annoys me when people keep using all these terms like they expect you to know what they mean when there's actually no formal definition

Grew up with football in mid 90s and through the 2000s some numbers are very iconic at least for me.
    10 : MF/OH
    9 : CF (duh!)
    7, 11, 17 : SH/WG
    2, 3 : LB/RB
    4,5,6 : CB

    lets listen and type,
Okay so me and my friends have talked about 10s, there is a change in what 10s used to be considered in football. When I was in school we sat at lunch and we asked ourselves who is the classic 10. Immediately we cancelled names like Dele Alli and KDB because they don't necessarily do what we consider a classic 10
When we talk classic 10 we are talking about a passive, ball retaining, redistributor who works to only create obvious opportunities while working his way around midfield to where they see space. The reason why modern 10s which I call 20s are not classic 10 is because they have other parts of the game they value over the parts mentioned.
For example, KDB is a box to box or roaming midfielder. He does not stay mid, or central but goes wherever he desires, however let it be understood KDB does also track back, to the area, living on his well roundedness.
Dele Alli is a second striker, he looks to either occupy channels, or get in behind, and does not concern himself with the buildup all that much, if Dele Alli receives the ball, he aims to progress it upfield
Ozil is also not a classic 10, or at least not the classic type we think off, Ozil drifts for space with or without the ball, rather than actually working to get it back, he's low effort high skill attitude means he often becomes focal point for attacks and his skill in deliver, accuracy and intelligence means he is rather more of the classic 10 of the italians
For classic 10s I found only two players. Christian Eriksen and David Silva, both have an attitude of sharing the ball, both look for more ordinary chances, and both look for space, they gravitate towards the ball and they are passive in nature. The only difference between this two is that David Silva runs with the ball a bit more and Eriksen tries some more longer range passes. This can be personal preference or just tactical philosophy.
The list of 10s I believe are traditional
    Bruno Fernandez
    Isco
    Maddison
    Sergio Gomez (young talent)
    Mario Gotze

  • @TheDanzomanzo
    @TheDanzomanzo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The sport is always evolving, but I still miss the classic #10's such as Zidane and Ronaldinho who would create something beautiful with grace, style and seemingly with minimal effort. Guti's audacious back heels are now a whisper in the wind. Players like Ozil couldn't find a place in the Premier League anymore, and his defence splitting passes just faded away over time.
Nowadays your typical #10 operates either in this more modern backtracking role from the CAM position, or as a False Nine. It's just not the same.

So i'm an avid fan of both Tifo and United so I don't say this with malice but I disagree with your comments about United fullbacks at 3:35
United's fullbacks push up touching the sides to the halfway line whilst the CB's attempt to find passing options to midfield. As the ball progresses both fullbacks will push up and wide or up and in. Tracking back they attempt to reclaim the vacant wing space whilst Fred/Tommy cover the middle only cutting in if Lindelof or Magure's had to push out wide to smother a counter attack.

    • @DeanGetYourWings
      @DeanGetYourWings 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@matttully1904 I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for this in United's upcoming game. I feel the fullbacks naturally have to pull inwards to stop counter attacking runs but that's the only tucking I witness even when Pogba/McTommy push out wide. Definitely something for me to look out for and stand corrected if so.

@@animeshkhare1769 It's not a characteristic of the player, but of the formation and tactics itself. Pedro Gonçalves is a central attacking midfielder, who happens to play RW. I'm comparing him to the likes of James Rodríguez, and not to Robben (tactics wise and not characteristics).
