This is some amazing work right here. Don't let people tell you otherwise. Fools don't even know what they're talking about. 200 HP in a car that weighs as much as a bag of chips can do a lot. Besides, there's the fun in building it and the reward of a screaming 4-banger.
U are right no doubt but he should be making much more with a gtx3076r the turbo is good for around 650 he must be running like 2lbs of boost thats some really low numbers for a turbo that size.....if his powwr goal is only like 300hp give or take there are much more turbos for that power level and have a better power band
I have a boosted B series EK coupe and I love it. I ran a boosted JDM D15B VTEC for a while and it always ran great for me, never gave me a problem, but I had to have torque, so I went with a B18B1 non-VTEC from an Integra GS here in the US. Bags of torque and even with 650 cc injectors it still gets 26 MPG if you keep your foot out of it.
Respectable build man. Perfect power to weight for a daily driver! Don't let all of the haters discourage you. My FRS is slow as balls but I still love it. :)
Cleanest and most professional looking d16 I've ever seen. Nice job! Lookin to turbo my d16 myself! I don't have a high budget but would love to hear them choo choo noises
I am not a civic fan and hate most rice buckets on the road... But it is nice to see that someone did more to the car than just a 3 or 4 inch exhaust. This looks like yu took the time to do a proper build.
i have heard many a story of the CARBON FIBER VALVE COVER but only thought it to be legend. i'm sorry i had to do it the song you picked motivated me any way awesome build man
I actually would never go with my dailycar on the track. No matter who is to blame - if something happens to your beloved car, you are fucked. I would rather build a trackcar for a few hundred bucks and go full risk with it on track. You dont need a fast car to have fun. But you have to be able to reach your limits to have fun.
the d series has a one peice girdle that holds the jurnals down with all 10 bolts like the head gasket.. enclosing the bearings, not like the B motor, yeah the B seris rod are stonger stock, but turbo D ur gunna want acl, eagle rod w/arp rod bolts n head studs, makes sense, now u can run 20psi all day like i run my bone stock civic.
Sickest gauge cluster, they are so hard to find and if you do they cost so much. Anyways, was the dyno at a UTI? The whole dyno setup area looked like it was a UTI with the tv on the wall and the same exact dyno.
@jdmfreak921 It's not all about horsepower. It's about the torque curve. Almost any turbocharged engine, especially one that large, will make pretty good torque under boost.
@wc4pwned The turbo is relatively large, the engine is tiny and the air and exhaust are distributed by one cam. He's running 7-8 pounds through a GT3076. Ball bearing or not it's going to be a crawler. Youre talking about torque curves like you think youre an engineer, so do the math with the size of the compressor, the amount of air to be compressed and the whole 32hp per cylinder that the Z6 makes.
Legit, when you really love a car, this what you do. It's a matter of hp/tq but more of the drive and actually doing it. I really wish I could do this to my v6 13' Mustang, but shit it's way too expensive. Anyways, your car is badass! Thanks for the video!

nice, very damn clean build, how much timing were you pulling per psi? what was your final timing at 0.48 bar? I have a stock d16a and im retarding 0.75 per psi, thats 20 degrees final timing at 10 psi
220 horsepower with a built engine and a GT3076r? i feel like that engine could handle well over 1.5 bar. unless your on stock injectors. but if you went with the built engine i doubt youve over looked that. crank up that boost! the 76r's can feed that engine more! then again i dont know your current complete set up. and these are all just suggestions, your ride, your tune.
There is more space and easy to work with and the timing is always on point than the dohc since its using one timing belt for one cam so its less work on the crank. it's pretty solid and simple engineering. This guy isn't going all out on 5th gear pulls though.
@jdmfreak921 You're talking about horsepower and torque like it's the same at all engine speeds, and that the torque wouldn't be much different with a turbo. Dual cam doesn't make a HUGE difference with forced induction. I'm not saying it's going to be the fastest car in the world, but this small engine with a good turbo would have enough torque to pull on a NA V8, 220hp or not.
thats crappy engine management for that level of a build, makes me wonder what the map sensor is for. Looks good though, I love that valve cover and alt cove
he's on low boost .... that turbo is capable of 4x what hes using it for . engine may not be though . when you do a build like this, you stay conservative till all is broken in and well off for a bit , then crank er up but keeping it healthy . for a old school sohc build , this is pretty clean and well done .
Did you hydro wrap the valve cover I'm thinking of doing g my d15b with all kinds of that love the detail which I assume at the heart of j.d.m attention to detail,...I was also going to do sideways gauges like midnight club members used to do,...jus a thought
What's the difference between stage clutches? If one guy has a four and the other has a three or five? Just curious. Trying to get up to speed on this stuff.
Most of you are just shit talkers. Appreciate the time and work that was put into this car. This is what I call a car enthusiast. I would bet my left nut most of you will never modify your car past the point of slapping on a fart can and lowering your car.
Didn't realize it was gay to one of the most top selling cars in America that not once have they made a fail if an engine or vtec. I personally like Subaru and Toyota but if I bought a Honda I'm damn sure it would never let me down.
That engine is over-built for what the guy want's to do with it. Stock sleeves in it are good till about 5-600hp, it's got a lot of potential, but the owner might be playing conservative. He could run 10's with some more boost.
to a typical person that doesnt know their cars would like the zr-1 and some american car enthusiasts would like it as well....but to the eye of a real tuner, to a real fan of great cars SUPRA is the real eye catcher like me, i would break my neck to see a supra boosting but for a zr-1 i'd just take a quick look at it...both are awesome but the supra is the KING of the streets hands down
Nice build man! Remember that motor originally only makes 115Hp.....so you gained quite a bit. Just that most ppl would have started out with a DOHC at least to make more power
I like the car, don't get me wrong. very very nice. ALOT of after market parts, but I honestly feel like my all motor b18c1 with headers and intake would take that.
This is some amazing work right here. Don't let people tell you otherwise. Fools don't even know what they're talking about.

D16Z6 turbo:
Engine -> 900
Turbobuild -> 1500(for 200hp)
K20:
Engine: 3000
Engine Mounts and axcles etc: 3000
My respect goes to the people who actually track their cars, regardless off make and model. The slowest person on the track still gets my respect.
I have a boosted B series EK coupe and I love it. one of the best civics i've seen, now crank up that boost!!!!
It's his car, his money, let him do what he wants, if he loves his car, that's all that matters. Nice build man.
You can probably do more with a Hondata ECU than that Apexi AFR controller. I bet more HP will be gained just by changing your ECU.
1.6 liter. if you add a dot between the two numbers in the engine code, u get the liter! for example b20 is 2.0 b18 is 1.8. hope that helps!
B20 is not 2.0 k20 is
H22
Turbo d16z6 would outrun Ur stock Buick without even breaking a sweat. Honda motors are reliable, and will last a long time if run properly.
Love the smoothness of the overall setup no funny idle no squirrely top end nice
D series tough little motors . I have one keep it for memories. Its a kick to push them.
I am not a civic fan and hate most rice buckets on the road... But it is nice to see that someone did more to the car than just a 3 or 4 inch exhaust. This looks like yu took the time to do a proper build.
It's amazing how good you know about how to deal with these stuff. I'm shock, wish I was a mechanic and boost my car to more than 500 HP.
im pretty sure he can make it faster lol, tuning, how do you know this thing is FULLY built? It could have just been rebuilt with basic internals....
i have heard many a story of the CARBON FIBER VALVE COVER but only thought it to be legend. i'm sorry i had to do it the song you picked motivated me any way awesome build man
B series are too expensive in some countries so just turbo the D series
Bardzo fajnie pokazujecie części jak małe dzieła sztuki . Podoba mi się
I actually would never go with my dailycar on the track.

I would rather build a trackcar for a few hundred bucks and go full risk with it on track.

The ramhorn manifold, is just great i love the way its made!

Fair play having a garret GT3076R, lot of potential with that
Clean af nice to see another boosted sohc to the dude talking about his all motor would be him id like to see it
This car would be fun at best, not very fast, but definitely fun. Clean build!
I love wat u did to your engine bro..makes me want to put more money into my d16
Finally a real turbo on a honda there is way to many honda owners who just slap on an ebay turbo
Sickest gauge cluster, they are so hard to find and if you do they cost so much. Anyways, was the dyno at a UTI? The whole dyno setup area looked like it was a UTI with the tv on the wall and the same exact dyno.

love the set up how expensive was it i'm trinking about a project like that for my d16 was thinking about ls/vtec turbo but this seem pretty hard also
Legit, when you really love a car, this what you do. It's a matter of hp/tq but more of the drive and actually doing it.

Man dont hate on certain cars, a rides a ride. A civic is quite a nice car to drive, you have clearly never driven on
All you hating I have a built d16z6 bisi rods and pistons gt40 turbo Sleeved block and alot more 724hp get some come to greensboro
did you change pistons, springs, valves, cam and rods?
the d series has a one peice girdle that holds the jurnals down with all 10 bolts like the head gasket.. enclosing the bearings, not like the B motor, yeah the B seris rod are stonger stock, but turbo D ur gunna want acl, eagle rod w/arp rod bolts n head studs, makes sense, now u can run 20psi all day
Nice build. I'm not much of a honda guy, but that is a clean build and it sounds pretty sexy. Not ricy at all. Props man
about 6.5 PSi... Not bad!
Are you still running it with the stock block and sleeves?
this dude went all in... good shit
save the sohc well thought out build d 16 light all-around and with boost for the same as a regular b swap getting alot
Really appreciate this build man . Hella clean d series. What did it all cost? well the engine internals and the boost stuff
the d series has a one peice girdle that holds the jurnals down with all 10 bolts like the head gasket.. enclosing the bearings, not like the B motor, yeah the B seris rod are stonger stock, but turbo D ur gunna want acl, eagle rod w/arp rod bolts n head studs, makes sense, now u can run 20psi all day like i run my stock civic

was haste am Motor an sich noch so gemacht ? Neue Ventiele mit Federn usw ?! ^^ würd auch bald ein D16 turbo projekt starten
220 horsepower with a built engine and a GT3076r? i feel like that engine could handle well over 1.5 bar. unless your on stock injectors. but if you went with the built engine i doubt youve over looked that. crank up that boost! the 76r's can feed that engine more!

Congrats on the build, have you had a chance to turn up the boost at all? How do you like the new found power?
got a bullitt and minor mods im running 13.4 in quarter , blower coming up soon , 11s -12s all day
try the integra cluster retrofit search for it its pretty easy and looks oem
There is more space and easy to work with and the timing is always on point than the dohc since its using one timing belt for one cam so its less work on the crank. it's pretty solid and simple engineering. This guy isn't going all out on 5th gear pulls though.

Hi, I know this upgrade Turbo, but where is the VTEC kick in?
Very nice engine, I like it :)
So you do this entire build and run ~7 psi? You probably would have been good running 14.7 psi and making much more power.
in some countries, like mine. the change of engine code due to engine swap can make the car become road illegal. it cant pass the regulation test.
thats crappy engine management for that level of a build, makes me wonder what the map sensor is for. Looks good though, I love that valve cover and alt cove
you have to start doing internal upgrades which is a lot of money, hes only on 7psi....that turbo has a lot of potential
your video was pretty cool... I love how you setup your aftermarket
This is a nice build, I'll try tuning D-series and messing with different set ups; turbos, 4 throttles and what not. Cool civic btw
for a DD 200 is perfect!
216 on7 psi? I'm planning on tinning 10 psi on mine...wonder how much it will make..
Victor Andrade you'll want forged rods n pistons. rods in d16 are like pencils
250??
nice build how much u boosting??
nice setup.. but how are you only making 220 bhp?
he's on low boost .... that turbo is capable of 4x what hes using it for . engine may not be though . when you do a build like this, you stay conservative till all is broken in and well off for a bit , then crank er up but keeping it healthy . for a old school sohc build , this is pretty clean and well done .
Well, stock Z6 is only 130 HP or so. Half a bar would be roughly 50% increase in HP. So another 75, that's only 200. 220 HP is good for his set up.
this things hella nice, dont let anyone talk shit
on the Y8 its 7200 but on the z6 its 7411 to be exact but its not making any power past 6600
Well if its the d16a9 zc. dohc non vtec engine. its much stronger to turbo over a b series
hell ya that engine looks sweet
Straight over-nighted the parts from Japan
Doug Ryan Harry had everything in stock actually
Slow, but I can appreciate the work he put into it. Nice car..
echt geil alter.diesen winter wird meiner auch aufgeladen :)
Did you hydro wrap the valve cover I'm thinking of doing g my d15b with all kinds of that love the detail which I assume at the heart of j.d.m attention to detail,...I was also going to do sideways gauges like midnight club members used to do,...jus a thought
@wc4pwned
its a 1.6 single cam. where in the video did you see a large turbocharged engine?
What's the difference between stage clutches? If one guy has a four and the other has a three or five? Just curious. Trying to get up to speed on this stuff.
with 220 hp, pumping the handling well, fwd car, its enough to kick ass :)
Why not more boost? Its only a D-series.
Damn man i have to hand it to ya, not many people build up a sohc engine to much. out here in the midwest.
Videos like this that get the honda fan boys gassed
Nice Honda...whats the name of that Melody ??
Am I converting correctly to 7 lbs of boost? If so, why not run more?
people keep telling me i should atleast swap my hatch to a b series. i tell them no. i like bein different and build my d16z6 :)
Low boost maybe? I was wondering the same thing...
is dat real carbon on the valve cover
clean ride my friend
Most of you are just shit talkers. Appreciate the time and work that was put into this car. This is what I call a car enthusiast. I would bet my left nut most of you will never modify your car past the point of slapping on a fart can and lowering your car.
the people that do that ricey garbage are the sole reason people hate honda owners
Didn't realize it was gay to one of the most top selling cars in America that not once have they made a fail if an engine or vtec. I personally like Subaru and Toyota but if I bought a Honda I'm damn sure it would never let me down.
for more boost I've always thought you need low compression forged pistons and forged rods/thicker or wider rods like eagle rods?
I agree But the satisfaction of driving it everyday is the same you'd get from modifying any other motor.
That engine is over-built for what the guy want's to do with it. Stock sleeves in it are good till about 5-600hp, it's got a lot of potential, but the owner might be playing conservative. He could run 10's with some more boost.
Dude you went fucking HAM on this civic.
eine frage wieviel hat dich der spaß gekostet ? :D
to a typical person that doesnt know their cars would like the zr-1 and some american car enthusiasts would like it as well....but to the eye of a real tuner, to a real fan of great cars SUPRA is the real eye catcher like me, i would break my neck to see a supra boosting but for a zr-1 i'd just take a quick look at it...both are awesome but the supra is the KING of the streets hands down
Where did you get the turbo from im also looking to do up my d16 and i dont a crappy ebay turbo
I can get you a Garrett but you would need custom downpipe and manifold
Fucking beautiful mate. Great choice of parts too!
Nice build man!
Remember that motor originally only makes 115Hp.....so you gained quite a bit.
Just that most ppl would have started out with a DOHC at least to make more power
just the new engine itself woulda had like 130. then all the extras shouldve made the thing hit the roof. what happened?
I like the car, don't get me wrong. very very nice. ALOT of after market parts, but I honestly feel like my all motor b18c1 with headers and intake would take that.
Wao wao! You do all for nating, stock block., stock head , no piston and rod and the Dino still you money .
I was expecting more but still it's nice
