    Can you please do a video on what exactly you mean by "prepare your lectures in advance". I'm watching your videos in preparation for university and would love to know your process for this. Thank you for such a motivating And informative channel :)

      this could be from anything from reading the textbook before hand, looking over lecture slides, printing them out so you can write on them DURING lecture too. writing questions you had during the readings assigned etc.

    I don't know how people learn from digital books/ notes. I don't take in anything on a computer screen. I have to have a physical copy.

      In my master's we had to print over 200 pages for a one day seminar. The amount of paper I had to waste and money I had to spend to print all of that would be enormous. I just had to get used to the screen, but I definitely prefer paper. And I wish my college textbooks had an ebook version! Would be great to find specific information and carry all of that stuff in my laptop to class.

      @@mariana-vieira we didn't have seminars and we didn't need our textbooks in class either. Some were available as ebook but not all. I had to print every journal article for my dissertation as there was no way I could have organised my thoughts with multiple pdf windows open.

      I know the feeling. It just seems like spreading all the papers on my bedroom floor and flipping through notebooks and textbooks back and forth helps with making comections between everything, but that might just be my visual memory :))

      Heledd Flower I’m the same way! I’m in a BSN program and believe me those books are HEAVY! But nothing in my mind can replace a textbook in my hands. I just cannot read digital textbooks. We have a pharmacology app and online learning thing for class that has the book integrated in it. I bought the book on amazon LOL! So much better for my learning.

    • @millyh5643
      @millyh5643 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The study buddy idea is actually so helpful! I was in such a study slump at the start of the semester but my friend and I (who work well together - that’s important) decided to go to the library together. We asked each other what we were aiming to do each hour. So we arrived at 5 - goal until 6pm and then changed our goal until 7. We ended up studying for 4 hours and then going for dinner. It’s such a great idea to have someone keeping you accountable for your goals! Also set goals - it is so much more helpful than I ever thought!!

    • @dlldll7482
      @dlldll7482 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The study buddy idea is actually effective to some extent. Your study buddy (talking from my own personal experience) preferably is a friend NOT a best friend (again, personal experience, may not apply to everyone) as you tend to get overly comfortable with your bff and side track from studying however a friend or an acquaintance as a study buddy will work out best for you as they work as company but still you get to keep your focus.

    Hey, I need some advice. I’m a freshman and it’s my first time in public school other than my few weeks in 6th grade. I’m taking two college level law classes and I have a crap ton of homework from those two, and then I have homework from my other classes. I’m also learning two instruments, Japanese and Korean, trying to organise my life (physically, emotionally, and mentally), and taking care of my sick mum since I’m the only person in this house. I have a cleaner, but she comes once a week and I help out a lot here. I’m also managing OCD, depression, and anxiety, and varying phases of insomnia and hypersomnia, and eczema and urticaria (a few types) and frequent headaches. I’ve also had some recent losses of loved ones. Any advice for this? I’m already behind in school and I’m desperate. I’m sick and tired of my family calling me a disgrace and a failure.

    • @sonalkumar8196
      @sonalkumar8196 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all, you need to think about what you need to get done. Forget your circumstances, and just concentrate on this.
      Like Mariana suggests, maybe start a tracker for everything you need to get done everyday. You can perhaps get a notepad and start by writing your daily tasks in it, and crossing them out as they get done. Get a small one that you can fit in your pocket, so you can write down a task as soon as you get it or can look at the tasks whenever you start feeling anxious. Or just use a simple to do app on your phone. Any.do is a good one, and the free app also has a lot of utility, if you don't want to pay for the paid version. This basic level of organising should be good enough for when you're just starting out. This is for the staying organised and planning aspect.
      Maybe take the next weekend to get organised in your classes: ensure that all your notes are placed together, that you are attending all your classes, and dutifully noting down your homework assignments when they're given to you. If you have done this, you can now go and devise a plan for revision or preparation. Revise what you study everyday, or prepare for your classes the previous day. This will save you a lot of effort. Since you have to take care of your mom, you could revise/prepare/do homework whilst you sit with her, so this way you can keep an eye on her and do your work, at the same time. If you have to make meals or do other chores around the house, you can either wake up early and do them, so your evening is free for schoolwork, or the opposite: schoolwork in the morning, chores in the evening.
      Also, try to be optimistic and accepting of what life sends your way. The fact that you are going to University and are worried about doing well and take care of your mother shows that you cannot ever be a failure or disgrace to your family.
      ❤️

    Can you please do a video about how to study from a study guide that is already written from a company? I have my masters degree in human services but the field I wanna go into is substance abuse counseling. I bought a study guide from the certification board office but it’s such a large overwhelming book. It’s so hard to break it down into more manageable sections. The book has everything I need to know in it but I need to break it down into more manageable tasks. Please help.

    I don't want to be rude but I'm sick and tired of videos like this because they are all the same.
    Track your habits like crazy, make loads of to-do lists, be super-motivated and concentrated, wake up at 5 o'clock and drink 10 gallons of water(and pee every 30 freaking minutes), read books and listen to audiobooks, buy 500 different highlighters and pens to make your notes look like a rainbow, download dozens of useless apps onto your iphone to track your habits once again (because I lose my memory every 4 hours and can't remember anything, like Dory from Finding Nemo), declutter your room and make everything minimalistic and environmentally friendly.
    I assume these videos bring people like Mariana a lot of money. But I think they should share some fresh ideas, not just this concentration-motivation stuff.

    • @_ayandra_
      @_ayandra_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      I get the drill, but especially in Mariana's channel, there are tons of different videos with so many organization tips. It's really up to you to try and figure which method is the best for your routine, but even Mariana has changed her organization schemes so much over the years. You don't have to make a lot of lists or track your habits, etc to get your life on track, lol. Like, I love videos of bullet journaling, but I failed in every attempt of incorporating it into my life. But in a recent video, Mariana showed that maybe it was more practical to use a digital calendar instead. And I finally found a method that worked for me, after years, hahah. Idk, try to check other videos, but relax, you'll find what suits you the best ;)

    • @roxanac.4977
      @roxanac.4977 6 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Kato Torrrh I understand your frustration. I too think that many of these advices are repetitive and seem dull after watching many productivity videos. But the bitter truth is, there isn’t much more to it. It gets old to always hear “drink enough water”, “wake up early” and “concentrate”. But guess what, the bitter truth is, all this stuff IS indeed important to success. There is a reason why everybody stresses out the same techniques, because they are key elements to achieving goals. I hated hearing about them and always searched for videos about different stuff and other “tricks”, until I realized that I just searched for the easier way around this. But guess what, there are no shortcuts. I don’t have the discipline to build the habit of drinking more water, but finding a video that tells me that I don’t have to do it and that there is a easier way isn’t going to help me. Working on my discipline is. And no matter how much I search for the “right” video, that is going to give me an effortless solution to all all my problems, without having to work at all for it, it won’t change a thing since it’s a waste of time and actually even a way of procrastination, since I keep telling myself that it’s not my fault, since I haven’t found the “perfect method” yet. There’s no magic recipe to success, there is only effort and a hell lot of work.
