Hi Dennis! My dad Carlo sold this truck to the original owner in 1984. He still remembers the truck and the gentleman he sold it to, and it's his handwriting on the invoice you posted. His family business, Falchini Motors, was a small GMC truck dealership in Ebensburg, PA that was established in the early 1930s, first as a Pontiac dealership then eventually becoming a GMC franchise and remaining in business for more than 70 years (the description above says it was located in Falls Creek, PA, but that's actually where the buyer was from). My dad, his father Frank, and his grandfather (also named Carlo), personally sold and custom ordered every truck. He is long retired now, but my dad still remembers details of just about every truck he sold, including the backstory of each and every buyer. Everyone loved stopping at the dealership to talk to my dad and he treated all of his customers like family. There isn't much to be found about Falchini Motors or my dad on the internet, so seeing this video all these years later and knowing that the truck was appreciated means a lot to my family.
It's says 1500 on the fender, K1500... Pretty sure Dennis Collins has forgotten more about cars/trucks than most of the people posting on here will ever know. I think at some point GM dropped the C, K, some were R and V depicting 2 or 4 wd.
Being a Pennsylvania resident I can't begin to tell you how much I miss seeing those old blue plates, the old yellows are even better. Killer find Collins Bros team!
It’s amazing to think this truck was kept in such good shape. It came from a little town right outside of the community I’ve lived in all my life. Just goes to show you, you never know what hiding in your neighborhood.
35 car's and Truck's in 3 different building's in the same condition hardly any Miles or rust owned by the same guy pretty awesome find for Dennis, the shameful part is I wish I found a couple of those truck's first
@@harrystevenson7098 yeah, that’s a huge find… you had to have know the old guy to know what he had…. I grew up in the general area where he stored his collection and had no idea it was there. What a truck wow!! If gm did a 5 year run on a retro truck like it would blow the ordering system out to space!!! You couldn’t build them fast enough!!!
Imagine if they did that to several of their classic cars. They'd have to have modern engines/transmissions, but the shape is what would sell. Picture a thousand-car run of new '55 Bel-Airs, '59 Cadillacs, the full-size muscle cars from the 60s. You right about the ordering demand - they'd all be pre-sold before getting to the showroom.
@@DuckReach432 yell yes brother these new cars today are so cookie cutter cars!! I would love like a 69 chevelle ss or impala ss or a nova ss dam they could do it tooo would shatter sales records
I said the same thing about the gen 5 Camaro in 2010, if GM would have duplicated the 69 Camaro body they would not be able to build enough of them for the market.
Brings back memories, I had the exact same truck in frost white w/blue interior and long bed (nobody ordered short beds in my area in those days). It was nice looking but the 305 with the 4 speed was a complete underpowered dog. The GM 4 speed has a granny 1st so it is actually really a 3 speed. I often towed a Glastron Carlson 20ft boat so after a few months of motor bogging I tried putting on headers with hiflow dual exhaust (I had to practically beg the muffler shop to put in a crossover pipe, in those days he thought my "experimental crossover" was "a waste of pipe", no problems deleting the CC in those days as long I removed it before and put in a "test pipe" ). The exhaust changes did did not help power at all. I then changed the cam to a one step up 292 lift, still little improvement. Put on an Edelbrock aluminum intake designed for towing and had the speed shop do some common minor mods to the Quadrajet carburetor, (drilled out factory "block plugs" so mixture could be hand tuned ). No noticeable real improvements yet. Finally, I pulled out the stock HEI distributer with early computer input plug and replaced it with an earlier model stock Chevy v8 non computer HEI distributer that had the weights and springs custom "curved" by a speed shop. This change also bypassed the computer but plugged in normally and was unnoticeable. I Installed it and by tuners instruction turned it until the motor pinged and backed off 2 degrees "I recall". HOLY COW!!!! did that motor come ALIVE and all the previous mods I suppose also came into play. No dynos in those days but it felt like that one last distributer change alone added at least 50 more horsepower and the gas mileage even improved a few mpg (no bogging?). Towed the boat like a tractor with not a hint of bogging ever even on hills. Having that truck with this motor/transmission combo got the manual trans urge out of my system for life, been all automatics since and I have never touched a new truck's motor again either. My truck had 342 rear end gears and I think 373 would have been much better with the 305 and maybe not required the mods. I think that early HEI w/computer was robbing all the power somehow. Those days were pre internet and had to guess and work with what I could order from the local regular auto parts store. Today you would have countless more options, advice and info. I drove it for about 50K miles trouble free and still feel lucky it all worked out, if the distributer swap had not worked I would have had to trade it off for a truck with more power. I think the distributer change alone would have made it driveable and was the cheapest and easiest to install change. The dealer suggested I swap back the original distributer when I traded and I still have the curved one today stored away somewhere.
I had this exact truck in red. I got rid of it because of the dual tanks - fireballs ! Tanks are on the outside of the frame. Great little truck, but dangerous. Later got the same truck in 1995. Best truck I ever owned. I wish I still had it.
I have a 1978 Chevy SWB BIG10 454 that I special ordered in 1978, it has almost 84k miles now. Bright blue metallic #25 with blue interior. Silverado trim package with almost every option available, even the factory tachometer. The options cost more than the base truck which back then came with a 6cyl 3 speed stick, no a/c and only a heater. I didn’t order power windows and door locks because they were junk. I ordered the radio delete with the windshield antenna and installed my own radio. The base price was around 3,350.00 IIRC and the MSRP was 7,200.00. It’s a long story but the short block was replaced at 500 miles and I was able to pay the 75.00 extra for an LS6 short block instead of the LS5. I sold the solid lifter cam and installed a hydraulic cam. The original block was a two bolt main and the LS6 is a four bolt main cap block with forged pistons and crankshaft. The original heads are #781 oval ports which are open chamber and with the closed chamber LS6 pistons yielded a 10.2 to 1 compression ratio. I ported the heads and cut them for larger valves, 2.19” in. and 1.88” ex. I completely disassembled the truck in the middle 90’s and repainted it the original blue. It has always been kept out of the weather/sun and inside of a garage. 1978 was the last year that the BIG10, which is classified as a 5/8ths ton, did not have a catalytic converter or any emissions controls. It had a true dual exhaust but I installed headers with Flowmasters #51050 with 3 inch custom bent pipe all the way to the back in the same configuration as the original pipes. I have it insured with Hagerty for $45,000.00

Dennis, back in the day I bought a new motorcycle from the dealership. They gave me a crisp 2 dollar bill for my first fueling. Safety laws limited the amount of fuel they could keep in the tank. so they gave everyone the 2 dollar bill to top it off. That's always stuck out in my mind as a very cool idea. It was a small token that made that dealership and that purchase stand out from the rest. Perhaps something similar is the purpose of your 1985 5 dollar bill found in the paperwork?

Hey BAT guys - I have been dealing with Rudy Dousset, over at BAT and was going to auction off a 2001 Series 100 in Thundercloud - I am the original owner - the car is 100% original no rust CA truck. It has no paint work. BAT told me it was one of the best examples they had seen in a long time - the interior is like new. All maintenance is up to date including a dealership oil change and new wipers yesterday - new tires last week. I was just informed by Rudy at BAT that because it has just gone over 200K miles they will no longer accept it at auction at this time - they said they have too many cars in the que and that maybe they would take it in the fall but didn't feel this was a good time of year - and that they were starting to turn down higher mile auctions - of course us LC guys know 200K is just broken in. I have run synthetic oil since my first oil change. I have all the paper work - it was purchased new from Valencia, CA Toyota. The LC is now located at my place in Santa Fe, NM. If anyone has any interest feel free to reach out to me - I would be pleased to share all the BAT photo's and provide the specifics. Best
Wow that’s a gem 💎 top notch for sure. I’ve had a few 305’s and nothing but good luck. You can pull plenty of power out of that motor with not much work.
The 3 speed manual only sounds like a great feature but it's only rare because the 700R4 Automatic is one of the best transmissions of all time and better in everyway if you ever want to drive it.
beautiful truck i had one new in 85 was a half-ton black red Interior 350 auto 7r4 3.08 ratio long box Sierra classic kept it until 2000 sold it ad 79000km
Nice. These low mileage classics are out there. I recently bought a 1970 Plymouth Valiant for $300. Sat for decades in a garage with a full tank so gotta take care of that. 😅
Good looking GMC short bed. Good luck on BAT with it. You won't need it though. I like those one owner all original honey's. My Dad bought a new '77 GMC 4x4, 350 V8,Auto/AC/tilt wheel/dual tanks/PS/PB/AMFM Stereo/sliding rear window/white/light green/light green interior (traded his '72 Monte Carlo w/factory fender skirts triple green). I loved that truck and when allowed took it to the OBX and drove it on the beach (surf fishing) @ Hatteras. No worries, I got to the nearest car wash immediately so I wouldn't get my $%$%$ chewed about the salt on the underneath. At one point he put HD suspension on it for a truck camper. What a bouncy event then when camper was not on. He had that truck well into the 90's with low miles but like most of that era, rust was a problem no matter if it did see a beach or not. And let's not talk about gas mileage, hence the two tanks. Big wallet needed even more so.
Dennis, being built on the same assembly line. If you ordered the same exact truck from Chevy, the GMC would most probably be $100 bucks more, as back in the mid to late ‘80’s, the only difference would be the radio. GMC’s usually came stock with a better radio, which in turn, added the cost to a doppelgänger equipped truck.
Amazing truck except for the 305 option. Crazy he got so many options but got the base model V8. Great K series survivor for sure. When you started it , sounded like the timing is slightly to far advanced. Thanks for sharing.
On the '85 half ton trucks the 305 was the only available V8 . You had to get a 3/4 ton to get the 350 , and the 454 was only available on a 3/4 ton with the "C6P " heavy duty option ( 8600 lb. gross weight ) , or on a one ton .
What a fantastic truck not hacked or jacked a factory stock truck an all the paperwork with it is even cooler i have a 83 Pontiac parisienne i got back in 2015 its nothing fancy mostly original an all the documents came with it actually its interesting reading going over the ole documents

You can pull plenty of power out of that motor with not much work.
The 3 speed manual only sounds like a great feature but it's only rare because the 700R4 Automatic is one of the best transmissions of all time and better in everyway if you ever want to drive it.
Seeing that trunk on the grass, I can hear my neighbor yelling when I was a kid "Get off my lawn!". Really nice GMC pickup.
beautiful truck i had one new in 85 was a half-ton black red Interior 350 auto 7r4 3.08 ratio long box Sierra classic kept it until 2000 sold it ad 79000km
I've yet to own a truck with under 250,000 miles crazy now that I think about it. Them bfgoodrich K02 look good on it
Wow amazing denis!!! They don’t make them like that anymore….. that’s a real truck!! Not à plastic truck!!
Seeing trucks like this being called a classic makes me feel old.
I want it!!! Needs a 3 sticker on it!
You have taught and inspired me Dennis!
Wow that's an amazing find... Thank you for showing us Dennis
My brith year. I’d love that pickup.
That’s beautiful. Most guys didn’t order black because we used them as trucks, and black is so hard to keep clean.
Helluva great truck! Brings back alot of memories!
Nice. These low mileage classics are out there. I recently bought a 1970 Plymouth Valiant for $300. Sat for decades in a garage with a full tank so gotta take care of that. 😅
This is when people had pride in what they owned, simple clean made in USA
That truck looks amazing.
Beautiful truck Dennis! I was 3 years old when that truck left the lot!
Interior Looks exactly like my 82 Chevrolet, Black step side, also had the 305” Downfall FIVE TRANSMISSIONS replaced, took AMCO to get it right.
Good looking truck. Thanks for sharing.
Had an 85 a lot like it, midnight blue, auto, just like so many others, wish I still had it!
Beautiful truck !. It reminds me of mine, except it was a 1984 Sierra 2500 4x4.. in dark brown.... Absolutely loved that truck..
My neighbor had a new one in 85 and what a beast;)
That grass is on point!!
Beautiful truck!
Spend a ton of money to buy this beauty and if you drive it a months later all the seals start leaking like crazy after sitting 29 years.
Bring a trailer is great but, that truck should auction on Saturday, a big show 150k.
Love the square bodies. Scottsdale, Cheyenne, all of them.
Those trucks have always been my dream truck, wish I could afford one
That truck is nice and I'm a Ford Man 💯
Good looking GMC short bed.
Dennis, I love all the cars you show, i remember few of them when I was a child. Our neighbor had the Jimmy. Love all your cars
What a beautiful truck! Thanks again Dennis!
I miss that truck. I would drive my uncles 1985 Sierra with the rare 4 speed and radio delete :)
Wow! What a beautiful truck. Just one drive down a dirt road is all I need plz
The Body (73-87) was soooo much better than the one that replaced it in '88. I worked for GMC back and had a DEMO identical to this one...miss it
Dream truck right there Mr. Collins ❤
Insane to see how prices are on stuff like these. I remember in high-school you could get one for under a few thousand.
Awesome truck. I agree with everything you said about the GMC. EVERYTHING.
K15 because it's a GMC and 4x4 Dennis
That definitely is a super nice preserved mid 80's GMC pickup. 👍
Awesome find I have a low mile 83 cab and chassis dually 454 th400 np205 d60 14 bolt 😎🇺🇲👍
Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't that a K10 truck being 4 wheel drive?
Amazing truck except for the 305 option. Crazy he got so many options but got the base model V8. Great K series survivor for sure. When you started it , sounded like the timing is slightly to far advanced. Thanks for sharing.
On the '85 half ton trucks the 305 was the only available V8 . You had to get a 3/4 ton to get the 350 , and the 454 was only available on a 3/4 ton with the "C6P " heavy duty option ( 8600 lb. gross weight ) , or on a one ton .
Gorgeous, I’d rather have this than a new truck
What a fantastic truck not hacked or jacked a factory stock truck an all the paperwork with it is even cooler i have a 83 Pontiac parisienne i got back in 2015 its nothing fancy mostly original an all the documents came with it actually its interesting reading going over the ole documents
I get it’s about making money but how does he get so excited about all the different vehicles. If you like or loved a few models but Dennis has a love of such an extensive list of vehicles.
Holy Grail 85 ...Wow.!!!
This is a gem!!!
Dennis I wish I had 1% of your knowledge, but you do keep calling 4wd trucks C10'S. They are K10'S and K20'S. The 2wd trucks are C10'S. Awesome truck!
Wow 👌 amazing find. What a beautiful truck ❤ worth every penny
