Like a character in “Class of 09” said in response to the question “what are institutions about then?”: “Thousands of people, hundreds of years, each person laying their brick in the wall” (may be a misquote). Instead what we did is look to the group with the biggest pot KNOWING THEIR HISTORY and said “I want a piece of that”. Well that has come to an end. Who ever has made it in, good for you. We need to respect the US Supreme Court. Their job is to interpret constitutional issues. Too often one side or the other tries to undermine the Court or the judges when a decision is made contrary to hopes. The Court is a balancing force that is critical to our democracy.

    • @Taylaen
      @Taylaen ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I'd be with you in theory . The challenge is that it was the Supreme Court that years back- approved of this new system to college entry. Kind of hypocritical to reverse it. Yet they did so with the abortion ruling as well. Seems we are now reversing ALOT of rulings that moved us forward in this civilized world. Back to the dark ages we shall commence.

    • @Fleetches

      @@Taylaenthat's the stupidest thing I've heard... so far this week. Reversing a decision doesn't "send us back to the dark ages" it just means that those past rulings were incorrect and are now being corrected. Would you rather be admitted to a good school because you worked hard to achieve it or just because you're black? I think the latter would feel rather hollow.

    Put simply, selecting or denying a person a position based solely on their race and not their qualifications is not a beneficial practice. Affirmative action merely changed which race it was happening to... it didn't fix it. If equality is the goal something else must be developed to assure it that doesn't merely shift the inequality.
