We all knew someone like Jon Wang in high school, A person with high GPA, but no noteworthy extracurricular activities, no interesting hobbies, or any track record of leadership, wanting to get into an elite school but failing. He's upset they accepted a Black student who got a lower GPA but; organizes an annual donation drive for people at shelters; works part time, regularly does community service, advocates for people with special needs. High GPA is easy to come by...leaders are not.

The group fighting AA is hiding under the name of Asian. They are Chinese. Their culture rewards test scores only. Welcome to America. Pushing down another race to succeed will only create more animosity towards Chinese. There is an entitled attitude that they are better than the rest of us because they work so hard. Universities take a wholistic view of applicants. Empathy, understanding and students who face barriers to succeed are also considered. A monolithic view that my score alone proves I am superior is spoiled and infantile. Chinese do not understand the Black racism that this country was founded on, and the work we need to do.

I think that he was accepted by Virginia or Georgia Tech which was not one of his choices. I really don't feel sorry for him because he's not really a very nice person to begin with. After the Supreme Court decision and his acceptance to a different school, he declared that he was going on a tour in the western U.S., as well as other regions, to crusade against programs and policies which were to help under-represented students (read BIPOC's) gain acceptance to colleges and universities because he felt that such programs were unfair to "deserving" (entitled) students like himself. I recall a panel os Asian Americans which was recorded on TH-cam sometime last year. I'm not sure but he might have been one of the panelists because there was a young man who resembled him and was admittedly against the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement of the early-mid 1960's to right the wrongs of American society. I wish that I could remember the title of that video because I would certainly do a re-watch.

Because the African has been under attack for 3,000 years, and everyone wants what the African has, but they are not willing to pay for it. And @patmtc477 is 100% correct. We are easy to prey on, because we are so divided, have no economical backing (i.e our own schools, hospitals, community, etc), and forgot who we were (spiritually and historically). I just seen a man, as black as the ace of spades, that was happy they took away AA, and even called it a handout. The reason why he was happy was because he wanted to show his support for a person that was running under the Conservative ticket. See, thats called a "slave mentality." Now, I could care less about which party you vote for, but you mean to tell me you want to take away a right that was given to us, due to services rendered, because you still want to argue about which plantation is better?!?! And they can have AA because I truly don't know how it benefitted me, but that black man's attitude was straight up self-loathing. FOLLY!

These elite schools in California have mostly Asian and white students anyway. I was on the campus of Cal Berkeley twice because my African-American cousin(through sports scholarship) and my African-American goddaughter(regular applicant) were students there. I saw mostlyAsian students, followed by white students and then other students of various ethnicities. I sure as heck didn’t see more than a handful of black students there. Two of those black students were in my family! A lot of the California universities are highly impacted. They’re impacted by Asian students. To see any black persons on campus and automatically go to the bottom denominator as to why these particular Asians did not get in, is playing to the same old racist playbook as there ever was. As such, is the mindset of this featured “model citizen”.

California has the highest population of asians in the country. What does that mean? California colleges are the hardest for asians to get into because they are competing in the HARDEST college bracket! They don’t want to leave thevstate they were born in. I’ve been on UCLA and USC campuses, all Asian Americans. An asian applying to school popular AMONG asians will have a HARD time. Also most ‘legacy’ admission WILL be other Asians, or the asian parents of the ppl who beat you in those asian dominated colleges in california, the state with the highest asian population.

So just to be clear, he's not mad at the (1) Any other Chinese applicants who *OUTSCORED* him or (2) the legacy applicants who were dramatically less qualified, *UNDERSCORED* overall comparatively to him?: *He chose to throw those variables out* , and target the "assumed" less qualified Black student and point saying "It is *solely* your fault". He grew up in Florida? (3) A small observation statistically, his rejection for the *SAME* reason at all of those institutions doesn't make sense. What was in his recommendation letters? Maybe he didn't stand out and is not as uniquely impressive as he may have believed. Life is soberingly hard for those who have never dealt with not receiving what they ASSUMED belong to them. Poor kid allowed himself to be used. He doesn't even understand that everybody who applied to those elite schools had good stats too. Some even better than his. You gotta have more to offer than that. The only thing good academic stats prove is that you're a great student. Big whoop. It puts you on the playing field and that's it. You have to stand out from the sea of applicants though. You gotta be unique in some way. He just wasn't competitive enough. And even with all of that, getting into an ivy is akin to winning the lottery anyway. There is a limited amount of slots for incoming students regardless of anything because those with a parent as alumni (legacy preference) are 3x as likely to be admitted. So if he was a legacy kid, he's almost guaranteed admission. It's more to it than just being Asian and showing up with good grades and test scores.

They keep their heads down and don't question injustices, even when those injustices are directed at them as in the late 19th and at least well over half of the 20th century.

I am not sure why Asians specifically east Asians and some south Asians, such as Indians from India just do not create their own universities similar to HBCUs and Jewish colleges, like Yeshiva and Howard, etc. It shouldn't be hard for the so-called model minorities to do this since they have their own communities and banks, etc. I believe they just want to be around white people, which is why they do not do so (creating some amazing universities within their communities is possible, especially with all these STEM people and do on). The biggest issue that is rarely addressed is GREED, admitting above institution's physical capacity... which creates scarcity. Colleges should be admitted to 75% yearly capacity. 25% should be left for open enrollment during the non traditional summer or winter semesters for students of hardship regardless of background. Enrolling up to 95% to 100% creates scarcity. Scarcity creates racial issues because it turns brother against brother, sister against sister. This also increases costs because increased capacity requires hiring WAY more college administrators. Administrator salaries cost more! Even if the institutions weaponize the scarcity by increasing and inflating the cost of enrollment... the Administrator salary will still cost more than the profit from increased tuition. Corrupt racist elitist college administrators unfairly shifted guilt and blamed affirmative action by demonizing affirmative action thru weaponizing scarcity to attempt to milk extra money from students. If admission capacity is properly managed, affirmative action should actually symbiotically benefit Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and Whites. Non-traditional and transfer students would also have an advantage because there less of a need for waitlisted classes.

  • @OurNewestMember

    Wow.
The question isn't whether these institutions have "even 5% black" student population, it's whether the _acceptance rate_ causes selective benefits on non-merit-based attributes.
Likewise, if there are almost as many white and Asian students in an institution, that would be surprising in most parts of the US as there are not roughly the same number of whites and Asians in the general population, suggesting something happened during recruitment, admission and retention for the student population to deviate so much from the general population.
But I agree the 15% Harvard legacy admissions student body proportion could be damning. But you'd need to separate out those students by the amount of benefit they received (some would have likely gotten in anyway, some might have enjoyed some peace of mind with their application, some probably still didn't get admitted) -- and then look at those benefiting students -- not the whole 15%.
The absolute numbers and percentages aren't the right thing to look at. You want to see the rate of beneficial treatment across groups due to these institutional practices.

From the Supreme Court Hearing.... Majority of Minority Students in Harvard got very generous benefits _("Full-Ride")_ because Harvard has more than $50 Billion in Endowment.... More than half of Black Students in Harvard are from *Legacy + Faculty and Employees' Kids....* Harvard's lawyer argued that eliminating Affirmative Action would drop the number of current Black Students to low single digit %..... Also the data from Harvard Admission showed that if everything is equal in other categories, Asian Students would still need to score 140 points higher in SAT compared to White Students to have even chance.
I did some digging.... According to the Universities Official Websites.... They are the Majority in most of the Top Universities in US.
*As of today **_(Jan 2024)...._* Harvard just fired its first Black President.... Post Affirmative Action Ruling.... Their number in *Harvard is 29% Asian* and in *Princeton is 28% Asian....* And in Top Medical Schools.... *John Hopkins Medical School is more than 51% Asian* and in *UPenn Medical School is 42% Asian.*
*All of UC Campuses in California **_(UC San Francisco -- UC Davis -- UC Berkeley -- UCLA -- UC Irvine -- UC Santa Barbara -- UC Riverside -- UC San Diego -- etc.)_* are *All Predominantly Asian Institutions....* *All of UC Campuses have around 45% to 60% Asian and around 20% Hispanic....* *In 1980s the Whites were around 80% in UC Campuses.... Now, Whites number drop to around 20%.*
The Best Engineering University in US.... *CalTech **_(NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory)_* is *Predominantly Asian Institution.*
*Even in Atlanta.... GA Tech* is *Predominantly Asian Institution.*
*Stanford, USC, MIT and Emory* are very close to becoming *Predominantly Asian Institutions....* Their numbers there are around 30% to 40%.

They filed lawsuits against the Harvard and UNC due to discrimination. The Trump DOJ subpoenaed the universities' admission records, revealing discrimination dating back to the '90s. The admission records show that when all other things were equal, they had to score 100 points higher than White students, 200 points higher than Hispanic students, and almost 400 points higher on the SAT than Black students. The Supreme Court ruled that the universities had violated the Equal Protection Clause _( 14th Amendment and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act),_ leading to the exclusion of race in future college admissions considerations.
At present, certain Ivy League universities continue to utilize the limited flexibility regarding "race" in their admissions processes.
Their current issues are with Yale, Princeton, and Duke. _(The recent data from Princeton and Duke show that their numbers may have gone up. They just chose not to indicate their race.)_
Their numbers have gone up significantly at every University that eliminated the Diversity (DEI).
Remember, they are only around 7% of the US population.
The enrollment numbers for Asian American students decreased at *Yale (24%) and Princeton (24%),* saw a slight increase at *Stanford (27%), Brown (33%), Cornell (38%), and Harvard (37%),* but rose significantly at *MIT (47%), Johns Hopkins (46%), Columbia (39%), UPenn (34%), CalTech (41%), UNC (26% from 13% in 2022),* and across all *University of California campuses.* Those numbers are *ONLY* for *"Asian American".* Asian International Students are *NOT* Included in the *"Asian American"* percentage. Asian International Students are classified as *"International Students"*. They usually comprise 70% to 95% of the *"International Students".*
This is just a repeat as in California when it banned Affirmative Action in 1996. A few years after that, the Asian students took over all of the Elite Universities _(all of UC Campuses from UC Davis down to UC San Diego, CalTech, and others),_ They also took over High-Tech Industries and Medical Fields.
Today, Asian American students are the majority at all elite universities in CA, Hispanics moved to #2 and Whites dropped to #3 _(around 20%)._
