Professor Michelle, receive a cordial greeting, I loved your version of *Van Gogh's Starry Night* congratulations, above all, the meticulousness of the same 10 stars, the planet Venus and the moon

I had a really stressful week and decided that I would paint to relax, I had two break-downs doing it because I thought it looked horrible but convinced myself to finish it even though. It turned out to look better than I expected and now I feel great for not giving up on it. Thank you for this video! Love from Brazil ❤🇧🇷

So glad you muscled through it! Most paintings that we create go through what I refer to as "an ugly stage", so keep that in mind on all of your paintings. They have to go through stages that are not the most beautiful in order to get to a place that is great! And always remember to have fun while your painting and just remember... it's only paint, you can always paint over it if you don't like it. Take Care, Michelle

Thank you so much for that tutorial. I have tried to do versions of story now for but was not very satisfied with my results. This was very exhausting and it took me all weekend to do it but I love the ending of it. Very good tutorial I took it in spots and I took snap pictures of steps so that I would get it right. I’m 71 and quarantine in my apartment so I enjoyed you sharing my weekend with me. Thank you so much.

I think I will try to paint this with my 8 year daughter! We’re also planning to visit Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience in Seattle this summer with her. Thank you, Michelle for your wonderful tutoring. I have done dandelion dairy and hummingbird fairy pieces with you and love them both. During this pandemic, I started painting and art keeps us going and truly appreciate your tutorials.

My 3yr old has been obsessed with Vincent since he was a year old. Your video is one of his favorite Starry Night tutorials. He rattles of the list of colors even in his sleep: ultramarine blue, titanium white! He uses a brush to "paint" in his Vincent book along with the video.

It's funny how kids can be obsessed with something from a very early age. With my daughter, it was horses, and started from birth. She maintains her obsession to this day, and she is 44 years old and owns a horse. Just think about what your son will do when he is 44. Be sure to encourage him and get him art lessons.

Update on my original comment: a year later and my son STILL LOVES this video. He now paints at least 3 Starry Nights a day before lunch and while he paints, he will say, line by line, what Michelle says through the entire episode. He continues to amaze me and his dad everyday! =)

    • @michellethepainter.

Hi Michelle, Most canvases come pre-primed these days. So if it's white on one side and tan on the under side, it's all set. If it's not already primed, you can put a layer of a primer called gesso on it. Have fun painting!
