I know Van Gogh was more than a bit sideways mentally, but I think his stringy brush strokes are exhausting. I'm painting Starry Night right now and I've found that adding purple to the shadows pops. 👩🎨
don’t be discouraged!! to be honest, i get frustrated and less confident in myself all the time when im in an art block, or someone is a fantastic artist, because they’re so much better. but just because they’re better, doesn’t mean you can’t improve. the artists you idolize didn’t become like that overnight. if they’re good, it just means you can get good too! keep arting, dear friend ♥️
I followed the tutorial on a canvas, and it worked so well. But then I painted it again on my ipad cover and tried to make the painting better and avoid some mistakes and now I'm super proud of myself! It turned out amazing, I'm sure van is proud too lol.
i’ve never been an art person, i’m more creative in writing. but after watching you, my favorite to do to pass the time is watercoloring. ❤️ thank you for inspiring me!
When I was in 3rd or 4th grade I recreated this painting except with tiny pieces of paper and it was put in a gallery downtown among other cool art from kids all over. I cannot wait to recreate it now with actual paint lol thanks Mako!
MAKO!!!! This is insane! How the hell did you do this?!? And with acrylics!?!? I’m so impressed! We should go see it in real life when we’re in Amsterdam!
I just loved this video. Van Gogh is one of my top 5 Master Painters and I have never had the courage to even attempt what you have accomplished here. Thank you for giving me that final push to try this technique, even if it is only in small sections to start. Have an awesome weekend!
I'm seeing this tutorial in 2023 😂 and I can still say this is the best video I got on TH-cam and first I thought that starry night is not my cup of tea but after watching this I got that it's not that hard at least I can give it a try And believe me it was very helpful Im on the way completing my painting and realized that this video needs an instant thank you ❤😊
What.... How did you do that??? Oh my God...! This is like an actual copy of the painting! So good!!!I want Mona Lisa next! Greetings from Greece!!!OMG thank you for the heart and for responding to my comment!
Well I'm watching this six years later and it was a great fun Me and my sister spent an evening painting a pink themed version of this one and it turned out very beautifully it was a great memory❤thank you
Love this! Wonderful tribute to Van Gogh, more should paint like him just to try to glimpse from his eyes for a second. A big part is to study oriental brush painting and ukiyo-e prints.
Love this video. Thanks for helping me understand the technique that Van Gogh used to paint Stary Night. I can’t wait to try this out. Another artist I would love to see you try is Gustav Klimt’s painting, The Kiss.
OMG STARRY NIGHT IS MY FAVORITE PAINTING EVER!! I've always tried to recreate it and was never able to, your explanation made it so much easier!! Also, you should totally make Monet sometime, it'd be lovely 😻😻😻
I really loves the thing you spoke about everyone is unique in their no way and there is no comparison with art.. I really needed this now it made me feel so better... I was getting compared with my art to so many people and no one understood my style of painting it..
This has always been my favorite painting! I used to to the remake of Starry Night back in elementary school, except I used cray-pas instead of paint. Since I saw this video, I decide to do the Starry Night remake, this time, with my paint and since it looks so easy!
It was just like the original painting. You're an amazing artist and inspired some of my interest in art! Also, could you please make a how to video on painting scenes for Christmas and New Years with watercolors? Thank you!
I'm going to do this on a wall in my backyard, I hope I can use this technique to this scale. I'm not a painter by any means, I'm just naturally good at drawing and painting but never really cared too much to pursue it. I'm planning on using latex paint and my time and imagination as aides 🤣 lovely video thank you.
@@fairlyathleticquail9641 still on the planning and sketching stages, it's a pretty big wall, it's gonna take time and a lot of work, I hope to share a link with the picture with you guys so you see how it came out!
I may not be a good painter, but my teacher gave our class an assignment where you have to paint a classical theme, I went with the famous starry night. At first it looked really hard when i looked it up on google but when I found your video and watched it, Painting the starry night seemed really fun and since I have a lot of free time, I have already started painting, right now I'm at 2:48, although I have made a few mistakes since i am not a good painter after all but, I now see why everyone enjoys painting and it isn't boring at all! Thanks for the tutorial, I will likely edit this comment again once I finish my painting and explain my final thoughts.
This is amazing... I saw it aldy on instagram. Loved it and the way u explained is cool. It's really nice that you remake many famous paintings... you are just way to awesome and I'm proud to say that you are my art idol.
Hey I just made a recreation of "Starry Night on a vinyl record and I will be really thankful if you go watch it: th-cam.com/video/xHh24owzTKU/w-d-xo.html
Even though Van Gogh did this cause of a mental state no one in proper mind can depict viscosity and turbulence as beautiful as him !! (Excluding machines and AI)
Very helpful - recovering from a car accident/traumatic brain injury using art as a therapy! I've been commissioned for a work by someone who loves/sell coffee. I put together a collage with Van goh's Cafe painting as my background, him as a customer drinking and the client in the background serving. Also plan on using the coffee he loves as part of the value underpainting. Thank you...
