I love her posture and movements so much. They're just so characteristic of her. I love it when someone does something and you can tell it's them even if it's just a shadow because the way they do it exudes their personality so much
This is one of her underrated performances. Very soulfull. Most of her studio recordings don't have as much soul as her live performances (I don't mean IWALY in this case). But Whitney's real brilliance can better be heard live than on her albums without any doubt (and the only official live album is subpar).
Nag Nag Nag!!!! Shes passed its okay to stop critiquing her now!! Just be happy you got to live during the era where the greatest voice in music walked this earth. Cuz there will NEVER be another. We love and miss you Whitney Houston......the girl with the golden voice!
Yeah, she had that until the late 90s. After that, she kinda lost touch with her voice's limits, which is sad, because she still had a very good voice in the early 2000s if she used it correctly. She just never updated her limits in her mind lol so she tried to do things that just weren't in hear reach anymore and when that failed she didn't know how to recover in the moment, so it was awkward. A very, very good exception to that is a performance of I Will Always Love You from 2004 in Bangkok. You can look it up on TH-cam, it's here. The key was lower, she took it slower as well, and it's a very sweet and emotional performance. I love it
@@nahuelma97if anything,, she learned how to change her way of singing in the late nineties, and it was the mid nineties that she had trouble adjusting to with her voice.
Thank goodness someone had the forethought to record this special performance by Whitney singing her top hit. This appearance is the same time frame as Waiting to Exhale and her voice is tremendous here! As for difficulties with DC appearances in 1997, she separated from Bobby that year. She later said it was due to his cheating and drugs became her escape from Bobby. But Whitney came back strong in Preacher's Wife and then Cinderella, Prince of Egypt, and a hit album the next year. So loved her!
Why I love about this performance is that she still had her signature tone and range but you could clearly see/hear her vocal dynamics have completely shifted to “My Love Is Your Love” vocals
This performance of IWALY is so Soulfull, I always found it to be a very special one :) Whitney, wherever you are, I hope you feel my love for your voice, since so many years... May now your soul rest in peace, because your legacy will continue to Live! From a Portuguese fan, Thank you for posting! :)
The beautiful intro melody sounded a bit like Whitney's covers of "Don't Cry" or "In Return," both of which were originals of CeCe Winans. I so love this woman. It's so hard to watch her videos, and Whitney was always my most beloved and favorite vocalist. I grew up with her starting from the 80s. I was there with her almost from her humble beginnings. Whitney exuded such grace, elegance, class, and beauty.
Bobbi Kristina wanted to kill Whitney Houston and make it look like a natural death. That's what I've heard in the latest documentary at least. Some people should avoid getting children.
Completely agree. Truely pure here, whuch is what adds even more to the beauty of this version ive seen. And yes, heartbreaking, but she always was and always will be the best singer in my view. No matter what, she still performed ar her best to tht time. Truely beautiful performance. Love you Whitney forever. ♥️
Her voice just sends chills all up and down my body... When Whitney sung she made you believe and gave you hope that everything was gone be alright. I miss her so much
I love her it's my favorite, and i love her performance in south africa of i will always love you whit her last note in opera i tell it for you, bref, Whitney I Will always love you oh right..
I'm a huge Whitney fan, but I realized that between 1994 and 1995 has changed too, his voice lowered, the appearance was tired, and she decides to stop recording, only toured, and was already clear that she was in decline! And in 1998 came the CD and was already another Whitney, in my opinion a lot of stress, fights, loneliness and of course Bobby Brown!
wish people would stop trying to cirtisize her, she is gone now let her r.i.p she got enough bad press when she was alive!!!!! IWALY WHITNEY HOUSTON MAY YOU CONTINUE TO REST IN PEACE ):
@@dylanmorgan1586 And those are only the ones that are on record from concerts, tv appearances that we know of. There may be more private performances like the one at Jamie Foxx’s party in the 90s

I love whitney houston so much, until now i still admire the voice, sad to see her downfall, how i wish she never touch drugs, smoking, drinking etc,if not she will probably still be alive and healthy like celine dion and mariah carey😖
@ohhaiijade 1996 was the last time she really sounded like herself. 1997-2004 she sounded really good but not amazing like she did from 1983-1996. 2005-2006 was a hot mess. 2007-2012 she was good.
I love how Whitney turned a sweat mop into a stage prop, and no one thought she might be on some hyperhidrosis inducing substance until years later. All you oriole blaming Bobby need to use your heeds. Even if you didn't know what was really going on, anyone should be able to figure out who was wearing the pants and had the money (then eventually credit) to sustain that life. He was wild and drank, but he really was doing what he could to get things on track for them. He was always working on projects and trying to get her out of the room smoking. She was the boss. She and her wicked family (she and her mom are sweet, the rest are criminals) owe Bobby a lot for all the scapegoating they've promoted.
@Patsy Dailey I was at the dc concert for the first night and she wasn't that great, but it wasn't bad. Overall it was a good show. I've watched the second night on TH-cam and I thought it sounded awesome.
Her voice and how she worked it really needs to be studied. For instance it seems this specific performance marks the nearly full transition into her My Love era voice. It’s even the beginning of her doing that shaky thing with her voice during the IWALY climax @ 4:15 1996 was a rough year for her voice, she made use of it a lot, I’d say even more than her Bodyguard tour run.
Whitney was such the "People's Lady"---she was graceful, elegant, and she made sure we had a great time!
