    A tip for installing rivnuts...drill the hole undersized, and then take a tapered reamer you don't care for and hammer it into the hole until it's big enough to push the rivnut in. The hole is going to be hexagonal (or some variant of polygon depending on number of cutters), and the reason you want that is because the rivnut will squish and fill in that hex. Years from now when you need to take that bolt out, you might run into an issue of the rivnut simply turning with the bolt because the thread is gripping the rivnut tighter than the rivnut is gripping the sheetmetal, and when that happens, there's nothing you can do except cut and grind. However, if the rivnut is set into a hexagonal hole, it'll lock into it just like a nut in a socket and will shear the bolt before it turns. Learned that trick working on aircraft.

    • @JohnStevens-iq3mp
      @JohnStevens-iq3mp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice trick but be aware that you are introducing stress risers where the reamer is cutting into the metal. Probably not an issue in mild steel.

    • @Skinflaps_Meatslapper
      @Skinflaps_Meatslapper 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnStevens-iq3mp Sure, and unless you ream the hole that you drilled (you know, the way reamers are supposed to be used lol) and radius the hole with a countersink, then you're probably introducing stress risers with round holes too. Besides, planes and jeeps are basically stress risers in and of themselves lol....rivnuts are generally not used on stressed parts anyway.

    Good stuff, all the way around. We got to see a build video and a crawling video to test the build. You can't ask for any more than that. All in one.
    Most of us began watching this channel to check out Kevin doing crazy stuff while crawling up trails and rocks, and Brit being energetic, enthusiastic, beautiful, and a hell of an excellent spotter. Now, in addition to that we get to see Chris and Bec fab and build, while helping other folks do crazy stuff crawling up trails and rocks, while spotting, being energetic, enthusiastic, and Bec be beautiful. It's all going full circle.
    Also, that Toyota build Chris and Bec finished off for Chris' brother is a real monster. It looked like it could and would go up and down most anything.

    I miss my 85 Toyota, with a EFI 350 with a 700r . The motor mounts and transmission adapter to Toyota tcase came from a place in Cali. I always wanted to make it out west with it and I never did 😭 People used to give me hell for running around on the trails because everyone always said it looked like a show truck. I didn't put all my nights and weekends and paychecks in it to look pretty, I built it to play!! The outtakes are always so funny ❤❤💯🙏 LiteBrite 4 life !!!!

    Great video. I really have to complement Beck. Watching her wrench, it's obvious she really knows her what she is doing. I see a lot of people, guys and gals both pretending to be wrenching, when it's obvious they're just playing a role. Also, I wish I could weld half as good as she does too.

    We love our diesel Rubicon. The diesel clatter just suits a Jeep IMHO, plus the MPG's are crazy for a 5000lb brick.
    Ryder's setup is what we want to do, 37's and a 3.5" lift, but have a baby on the way and can't swing the mods now. It is quite surprising how capable it is in stock form though.

      I love my diesel Rubicon; Clayton 2.5 lift with 35s. I love the way it climbs. Mileage is pretty good too. I got 29 mpg from NM to Greeley CO and back before the 35s went on.

    A little tech tip on revnuts AKA rivet nuts use a little JB weld on knurls on revnut prior to install. This will keep them tight in body sheet metal and spin out. Also use a little anti seize on mounting bolt to prevent sieve up. Exspecially if you use stainless in zinc or stainless revnuts. Ask me how I know.
