    This confirms for me that ETNZ have nailed this design and will be very difficult to beat come the finals. That mainsail track is pure art. The hull looks so right. I think it wa Oli Stephens that said once 'if a boat looks right, it usually is right'. We shall see......

    I became a fan of the cup through Formal One and it's aerodynamics.
    So I did feel some fear as the big money teams announced their F1 partnerships (ferrari plz partner with Luna Rossa).
    Stoked to see TNZ have built another gorgeous yacht.

    The two best boats right now, absent tactics, boat handling and foils are NZ and American Magic. The difference? NZ double main vs AM's low windage profile. But it's early and there are many variables.

      Also, the cyclor positions. AM is the only yacht that features recumbent cyclors although how that will pan out with power availability remains to be seen.

    • @tomhorvath6137
      @tomhorvath6137 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jamesaron1967 I'm guessing they really thought this one through. When you think about it the reduction in windage from a normal cyclor station to the new recumbent stations is only a very small advantage. I don't think they would jeopardize a reduction in power output for a marginal gain in windage savings. I'm sure they did a lot of testing with the cyclors.

    'The main sheet system is a powerful idea, and it's not on any other boat' - except the French boat!(designed by the kiwis). I think the French are going to be right up there. It's going to be the best America's Cup.

    I wonder if ETNZ shared the flight data with the French team.

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. If they did it would have been data from the old foils and I doubt it would be tactically revelatory for the AC37.

  • @annettemay5743

    Why would TNZ make a narrower boat than an ever so slightly wider boat, that way the operators could seat lower and more arodynamic plus main sheet would be more open to wind as the it goes all the way down to the hull. Wider would make the foils have more leverage. But what would I know , I carn't sail.
