Leila, you simply must write a book. I have NEVER come across someone who explains the inside of running a business in the granular way you do! It reminds me of this quote : "As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble."
Wow. I’ve needed this clarity for so long. Most important thing for me to hear was the reminder that like any skill it can be learned and it gets easier the more you do it until it’s routine AND it’s OK that right now after 25 Yrs in businesses that I often absolutely loathe these encounters. Its so deeply ingrained I thought it was my inherent irreversible personality. Until Leila put this together as a proven repeatable approach, I didn’t even realize that the lack of this was almost single-handedly, completely preventing my enjoyment of entrepreneurship. Also Love the comprehensiveness of this. So often having pieces of this has made things worse than no pieces. Can’t wait to see what’s around the corner.
Screw how much youtube people want to watch I soak up every second of every one of your videos it is packed with priceless information that I am shocked not every business owner not already knows you are done a great service to the world thank you
I recently started helping my parents run a farming business that had gone through a rough patch. I've experienced so much anxiety and uncertainty in dealing with the workers and meeting our goals. This video on hard conversations is absolute magic. I recommended your channel to my brother because we are working together, your videos are of much help. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us... 🙏
Thank you Leila. Very Good advice. I took notes. I didn't realize a lot of people have this problem. Rehearsing the conversation until I don't sound "angry" anymore would be good for me to do. I see this now.
Thats exactly the format I use. Took me 5 years of being upset the same way you described your first hard talk. It is so worth pushing through. With their best interests in mind I speak, Raw honest specific. The option is what? Lie to them so they have a comfortable failure?
Leila, would love to have a video talking about how you and Alex differentiate roles in the company, what you guys both do, and how you determined the best roles for each of you to be working in.
Leila, I think something unique that you bring to the table that’s very valuable and that you talk about sometimes is your perspective on*Skills*. I would love to see a video from you about that. Just some thoughts on what might be good to cover: Identifying the skills the entrepreneur needs to acquire; Knowing the full skillset so there are not any missing pieces to it (which could be a bottleneck if you have missing pieces to the skill); Applying/practicing that skill (putting it into action); and Any other tips about increasing skills as the entrepreneur that you find valuable. Thank you so much for your content. It’s awesome!
Hey, Leila. I’m an entrepreneur running a watersports company, smaller scale stuff but I love your videos, love your confidence, and definitely keep them coming. I feel as if this is real practical advice and i’m very grateful for you. Lakeside Watersports supports you! 🤟💎
Super helpful. I realized my setting tone and strategies were way off. This had an immediate impact on conversations in my sale and operations team. Thank you
We tend to feel about firing people because we are good people. It's a good sign that we are caring individuals. Awesome content. Thank you so much for all these videos and all the nuggets of wisdom that they contain. Please keep them coming. Blessings.
