“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!
I can’t wait til payday next week. I’ve been binge watching biz talk and have learned so much and am sold on the products. I need the acrylic kit and the gel kit ☺️. Can’t wait to try the protein bond!!! Thank you Habib and Tracy!!!
Protein bond is amazing!!!! :)
Could we get a biz talk about customers Who are talking about how they "Would be so good at doing nails themselves" and thatway downsizing your work at the same time? Thank you for being there💜 Love: Riikka
Yeessss please!!!
The video when you drew on the nail with a sharpie changed my life, not gonna lie
That was an excellent video
What video was that? 😱
I have a question I'd like to hear you all discuss if you get a chance. How long do you wait before you replace a client who hasn't rebooked with you? When do you know it's time to add clients and when do you actually notice if you have a full clientele anymore?
thanks for the suggestion, we will let the team know.
I purchase new gel lamps once a year because I want to make sure I don’t have issues. The youngnails gel lamps are the best in my opinion! ❤️
Hey there I just bought the acrylic pro sculptor. I've used many brushes in my time and I have to say this is the BEST acrylic brush I have ever used! You guys did an awesome job on that brush
My peeling comes from when I use Mission control gel paint and caption nail polish. It peels all the time at the tips inner corners never knew why. Thank you for the video💐
I have some nails that will hold on to acrylic like a life preserver, and other nails that are like NAH, we didn’t invite you to this party. Even several pros have had problems with lifting. I think it’s from typing a lot and the flex.
I'm a newbie so thanks for all the beginner videos.
Can you please discuss how many clients in a day is optimum, how long a gap after/before for running overtime. How long to expect until getting more proficient eg - 3/6 months. What should I be practicing the most before start a course? What’s the most often thing under taught at a generic nail school (starting my Cert next year) Tips or sculpting, pros/cons for each? How do decide which products to use on different clients types of nail beds? Applying product on really difficult nail beds: ski jump, really deep side walls, clubbed nails etc.
Got more questions, will add later 🤣
Great questions, I will add them to our list although some I can answer here.
Tips vs Sculpting: th-cam.com/video/ee30k9eSl_k/w-d-xo.html
What nail school doesn't teach: th-cam.com/video/tucHQlf_7oc/w-d-xo.html
Types of nails: If the nails are thin or damaged I typically do acrylic.. if they have healthy nails and or work in chemicals or water all day.. gel typically does better on them
How many clients in day depends on how much money you are wanting to make. Here is a model for figuring it out. [ $xx per year (how much you want to be making) divided by 52 weeks = $xx per week (how much you need to make each week) divided by xx hours you want to work each week = how many clients you need.
So thorough
🏆
Will you link the video where Tracey uses the Sharpie for the cuticle prep please?

So you use swipe then 2 coats of protein bond? No prep/dehydrator?
Swipe is our cleanser/dehydrator. You would also remove shine from the natural nails with at 150 grit sanding band with light pressure at 3,000-5,000 rpms before using swipe.
Great video thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Can you use protein bond with any acrylic system?
Yes, they use it in their videos with acrylic
we don't test our products with other brands so we can't say for sure. We have heard people have had success though. I recommend asking in our facebook group if you have a specific one in mind and they can tell you their experiences with it.
Thanks for this video, but just one of my client keeps complaining that her nail tips keep falling of and others don’t have this issue. I don’t know what to do🥺
Where is the nail breaking/lifting on this client? Free edge? Sidewalls? Cuticle?
@@youngnailsinc thanks for replying. Sidewall and cuticle (from sidewall to part of the cuticle)
And another said it’s the cuticle area
If it’s more than one client, there could be some issues with prep or application. If you are applying tips, it also could be that the tips may not be the correct size. If you try to put a tip on that’s too small, it has more of a tendency to pop or peel away from the sidewalls. Check out this video for more info on sizing your tips. th-cam.com/video/aMbRah86HMA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pI585XdGRJSCC3eY
Which starter kit should I use from Young Nails? I really want this channel only to be my guru nail channel.
Here is a great video explaining the differences in all of our kits.

Can you make videos on how not to burn or cut a client, the types of bits and and files we should use, during the process ? What size brush is optimal for cuticle application
Burning the client with your e-file could mean your bit is dull or you are leaving it in one place for too long.
Cutting the client with a file or sanding band remember to season both of them by removing the sharp edges.
Brush size is a preference. You would want to pick up a bigger or smaller pearl based on your clients nail for the cuticle.
Can lifting occurs as a result of the client's lifestyle?
It can play a part if the client is very hard on their hands or if pressure is put on the nails on a regular basis. If you have no lifting issues with the majority of your clients, it is possible there is something in the client's lifestyle if you have someone with lifting.
Can you use protein bond with dip powders?
Yes and no. If using our dip powder with monomer for acrylics, mixing them with hard gel or with our conversion base then yes you can use protein bond. If using our dip powder with a 4 step rein method then no.
Okay but how did you NOT like the new mortal kombat, it’s perfectly cheesy and modern to restart it up all over again!
I personal always have one nail (my pointer finger on my dominant hand) that always lifts first way before any of my other nails do. It’s so annoying but I think it’s because my nail is thin and it is used more often being my dominant hand. THOUGHTS ANYONE?
Yes same, my pointer on my right hand always come off before the rest
If it's only one nail that consistently lifts, most likely there is something that is happening to damage that one nail. See what you could be doing during your daily routine that may be wearing on the nail.
I it just me or is anyone else getting déjà vu from this video? I know it says it was only uploaded 3 hrs ago but I feel like I’ve already watched this video. Is this a re-upload? Or am I just going crazy lol 🤪
What's the difference between primer and protein bond? 🤔halp
Primer is like a cleanser and neutraliser and protein bond is adding stuff to conditioning the nail so the adhesive properties are connecting with the nail plate optimally (was that right Habib!)
Protein Bond is a non acid primer.. it doesn’t chemically etch the nail like a traditional primer does. Protein stays sticky.. sticks to the natural nail and then sticks the product.
For some reason I always get lifting on the middle fingers especially. It’s not so much to the point where I’m concerned about overall adhesion or strength or water damage but I wonder how to achieve zero or close to zero lifting. Advice anyone??
scientifically, the middle finger is the fastest growing nail typically. It might be because it needs to be rebalanced more often?
@@lalasarchive1 yea that sounds right cus it always turns the most too when the nails grow out
Maybe if you stop flipping people off you will get less lifting
If it's only one nail that consistently lifts, most likely there is something that is happening to damage that one nail. See what you could be doing during your daily routine that may be wearing on the nail.
A client on certain medication can also cause lifting because it effects your natural nails
Any tips on preventing lifting from the free edge? I always etch the nail and cap but I find on square shaped nails especially, the corners start to lift after a few days 🥲
Same issue here!
What is your prep process?
@@youngnailsinc It usually happens only on my right thumb .....I push back the cuticle, dehydrate, prime, base coat and start applying the product. I'm right handed so usually I use that hand a lot, could that be part of the issue?
@@youngnailsinc I push the cuticles back, then I go in with a cuticle efile kit, nip the cuticles, then I use the medium grit file to etch the nail plate, use swipe and then I base coat etc. 🙂
Do you take off the shine? That could be the problem
What if just the same nail always seems to lift on a person?
If it's only one nail that consistently lifts, most likely there is something your client is doing to damage that one nail. Have a quick conversation with them to see what your client does during their daily routine that may be wearing on the nail.
They also use their nails to open boxes
What causes nails to break ?
Mainly too thin or incorrect apex placement!
For natural nails - Stress and damage - or weak nails in the first place (do you mean natural nails or enhancements?)
Thank you so much
l meant tips with acrylic
@@SarahhhBeth ok tnk u so much
😒how thick should l apply
@@mercysame9803 I won’t be able to explain it super well on here but just look up “apex placement” videos from young nails! They have some great ones!
I’m always washing dishes and the kitchen cooking and nothing last one me
Hard gel is great for hands that are in water often. How are you prepping your natural nails?
Yes mortal Kombat. Lol
