The mean problem In why Nickelodeon is is declining is capitalism and Corporatocracy and Plutocracy and this society and so called American culture and values
Nick is just a shadow of its former self nowadays with reboots and spin-offs, it sucks how they treated shows like el Tigre, Harvey beaks, teenage robot and glitch techs if they don’t reach the ratings that SpongeBob got which is plain dumb and sad. 90s and early 2000’s will always stand out as a powerhouse for the network.
SpongeBob fans are just making SpongeBob suffer from its own popularity at this point & they don’t even know it. It just goes to show, anything can suffer from their own success.
One way for the network to fix things are to give the creative team more freedom, stop giving cartoons bad time slots, and give them more marketing and advertising.
I can agree that SpongeBob was at its peak in Seasons 1-3, but Seasons 4 & 5 wasn't that bad either. Seasons 6-8 was pile of garbage. Seasons 9-onwards is mixed for me. It's either hit or miss. The first 3 SpongeBob movies were good (tho i didn't like how Movie 3 contradicts events from the show) The spin-offs Kamp Koral, The Patrick Star Show, & Saving Bikini Bottom is another pile of garbage.
I completely agree, though I haven't seen the other 2 SpongeBob movies. I lost interest after 2007. I personally think the show should've ended after Season 4 or the 2nd SpongeBob movie. Family Guy is experiencing seasonal rot as well -- Another show that's overstaying its welcome.
Modern Nickelodeon is basically this now, it's either: A.) SpongeBob or SpongeBob spin off 24 hours a day. B.) 3 of the same movies (because God forbid that they show any other movie besides the 3rd SpongeBob movie, Sonic Movie 1, or Hotel Transylvania 1. I guess they can't show any other Paramount or Nick movie, I guess?) C.) Friends marathon or MORE SPONGEBOB for nick@nite. D.) Bad Nick sitcoms. E.) Nick Jr. shows all the way from 5am-3pm. And don't get me started about their other 2 channels and the bumpers they show.😮
i remember they did a PROMO on Nick for Sanjay & Craig in my country, DON'T EAT WHILE WATCHING IT! also in the 2010's they did a mix of new & old shows (90's - 00's) on the schedule, it died around 2017 when they canned them & focused on only new ones. same for CN they mixed new & old shows for their schedule.
Aaah Nickelodeon. I remember how many shows Nickelodeon got back in 2003 and 2004 in my country (The Netherlands) SpongeBob SquarePants. Winx Club. Rocket Power. CatDog. Invader Zim. Fairly Odd Parents. My Life As A Teenage Robot. The Wild Thornberrys. Aaah Real Monsters. Patatoes And Dragons. Sabrina The Animated Series. Rugrats. The New Adventures Of Lucky Luke. Girl Stuff Boy Stuff. Flatmania. Danny Phantom. Hey Arnold. Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius. Rockos Modern Life. Angry Beavers. And nowadays you got like only 6 shows. How tragic.
Neither Breadwinners, Robot & Monster, Sanjay & Craig were bad. If the latter was on Cartoon Network instead of Nickelodeon people would have watched it alongside Adventure Time and Regular Show while the former two could have been better for sure but they still aren't as terrible as Planet Sheen. Also there are some good episodes of Spongebob after the first movie up until Face Freeze and/or Ghost Host, which episode came first is where the show started to decline.
Too be fair on Planet Sheen DNA Productions closed down after The Ant Bully flop hard but it doesn't excuse this spin off from being terrible and I have a theory that Nickelodeon gave lack of promotion on all these shows during the 2000s Era that they want to make SpongeBob be seen everywhere as there golden child which I thought by now he's over saturated at this point
Thank you for not mentioning the worst show to EVER air on Nickelodeon, the one they actually chose over Adventure Time. I’m not kidding, the reason Nickelodeon turned down Adventure Time was because they thought it was, “too weird.” I assure you, though, the show they chose over that is FAR weirder, and HORRIBLE!!
Winx Club was indeed one of those few early '10s shows that were good by exception. But to be fair, this was a co-production between Nick and Rainbow, who had already laid down the groundwork with its first four seasons and two movies on their own since 2004. Nick basically redubbed that material and then co-produced seasons 5 and 6.
A 10's show?!?!...... I'm 28 and I didn't know Winx Club lasted for more than one season after 2004. I didn't think the show would be successful when it came out on 4kids TV. I thought it was too girly. I'm surprised it lasted for so long.
Also here’s something I want to correct you on: Planet Sheen was not the show that marked the downfall of Nickelodeon; Fanboy and Chum Chum was. It relied way too much on fart humor and was really hyperactive, which set a standard for how the next shows would handle humor and pacing. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Planet Sheen was even worked on by some of the guys who worked on the original Jimmy Neutron, so it’s unreal how they could screw the spinoff’s humor so badly. It would’ve been different if Nickelodeon chose to acquire Adventure Time instead despite the decline starting in June of 2005 after Viacom split into 2 companies due to poor performance (which is why I think they relied too much on their previous shows since then.)

Here’s how I would fix Nickelodeon: 1: Air less SpongeBob related content. That’s pretty much all it airs now. 2: Air less Movies. I would only air 2 movies per week. One on Friday and another on Saturday. 3: Aquire some Anime. It may be a stretch, but having Pokémon or Beyblade air on Nick would be cool. 4: Make more Live-Action shows. Nick started out as purely Live-Action before the 1985 rebrand.
I totally agree that Nickelodeon needs more anime, but I disagree with live-action shows. They're cheesy, forgettable and unsuccessful now, even on the Disney channel. Live-action shows aren't refreshing anymore and Dan Schneider ruined it. Also, Nickelodeon sucked before the re-brand, and this is coming from a Millennial. Cartoons saved Nickelodeon. SpongeBob should've ended a long time ago after Season 4 or the 2nd SpongeBob movie. I'm 28 and I'm surprised they're still making new episodes. Other shows need a chance. I'm hoping 2024 is the last season, the show is already suffering from seasonal rot like Family Guy. And both of these shows ironically began in the year 1999.

Yeah, but unlike SpongeBob, the Rugrats didn't air on Nickelodeon for 25 years. The Rugrats ended at the right time before seasonal rot, and then All Grown Up lasted from 2003 - 2008.
