I bought one of these (black trutone) to try the ESV. I truly love the look and feel of the Bible. It is a minimalistic look (I added two ribbons). I like that it is durable and can be carried with you. The large print is a plus for my eyes. I recommend this if you aren't sure if you want to switch to the ESV. The translation itself is really great. (I am a 30 plus year user of the NRSV as a pastor and disciple). I appreciate your review of this Bible.

Good review. Do you know if this edition is still available and where it may be purchased? I wonder if Crossway will ever redo the large print value thinline with gold edges and a ribbon? I love the mahogany cover!
How is the condition of this trutone value edition after 10-15 yrs of usage, has the cover survived? How much was the use? I have written to crossway, suggesting them to include references to their value editions, it will be very good, as references are important. They can remove presentation pages and maps to cut cost.
I have one of those with the mosaic cross but not a large print. The feel of the TruTone cover really nice and the sewn binding is excellent. My only complaint is the paper quality as you've said but hey, for that price, it's not bad at all!
Just an update: I bought a new one like that except that it's the model with gilded edges and a ribbon marker. The color is Turquoise Trutone with Emblem design. It's so good for reading because of the 10 pt. font. I like it! Yes, the paper is not that good but hey, with that price, I'm not the one to complain! I got it for only $14.18 (converted from PHP695.00). Oh, and another difference is that the regular large print thinlines also have maps while those value thinlines do not. Moreover, I added a brown ribbon marker to my brown ESV Value Thinline with Mosaic cross that I previously mentioned and now it looks really nice!
