Thanks for watching 🙂 In snooker , push shots and double contacts are not allowed. This particular push shot was performed by Judd Trump in a recent 2024 Xi'an Grand Prix semi-final in China. There is a very simple formula that all referees can use to identify a double contact: Quite simply, if (A) the distance the cue travels through the white is greater than (B) the distance between the two balls then it has to be a double contact. This is because the white will always slow down when it meets the object ball and this allows the cue to catch up for a second contact. Here we can see that A is slightly greater than B. This is a double contact. And as the object ball went in the hole, we can also assume that the second contact is a push, that is cue, white and object ball, all in a row, briefly touching. This is because of the timing. The red would not have gone in the hole otherwise. This video is for educational purposes only.

Additional information: Judd and Daniel are actually very close friends. They used to share a house together in Sheffield when they were starting out. Daniel is one of the very few people that Judd would NEVER do a push shot against (unfair advantage). Everybody else though, is fair game.. because everybody else seems to be doing them as well.. because the referees are not enforcing the rule.. because they are not being properly trained.. 'C'est la guerre'!
