I am so happy Candlemass got back with Johan, now we have 3 albums with him. It really would have been a shame to only have Johan on the Epicus album only.
This isn't the 80s anymore, and even though one might appreciate power metal with it's high-pitched falseto voices, one also has to recognize that falseto voices are definitely out of style in most metal subgenres.... And frankly, I think his darker more somber tone suits the music much better now.

@@sauron2826 according to Johan himself the reason why Jonah Quizz stopped with the label they signed to that was gonna make them big closed literally like as the signed and shortly after that they just stopped. Johan went as a studio session vocalist for whomever chose him and the rest is history. Also if Candlemass sucked why are you here. You are literally the only soul I've seen that has said basically Jonah Quizz rules Candlemass sucks.
I love Johan, but damn, his voice is shot. He really struggles in the clean parts, and I´m afraid that his constant use of his grittier tone will fuck his voice up even quicker.
I mean, he recorded one album 35+ years ago. Horrible choice for a new vocalist. They should have stuck with Mats or brought Robert back in. I don't get the appeal of bringing back a singer that did *one* album with them, *never* toured it, and who was *completely* overshadowed by the vocalist who replaced him. I think he sounds fine as their singer, but I don't see the appeal unless all they're going to perform is EDM songs and the new material with Johan.

Johan was in his early twenties when recorded EDM. Now he is almost 60. Of course his voice aged - that’s the nature. But still he is awesome!
