As a long-time '9er fan, this 2019 season was possibly the best season ever - most number of fantabulous games in 1 season. Even the Montana years didn't have this many outstanding games. And JimmyG and the team just got better and better throughout the season, even in that super tough last 5 or 6 games. Even their 2 season losses were just barely losses. My fave game of the season was the Saints game (th-cam.com/video/PEtMB7G0mH4/w-d-xo.html) - it had everything: both teams 10-2, Brees vs. JimyG shootout (both totally at their best), great defensive plays, high number of trick plays, controversial but interesting rule calls, Kittle's T-Rex vs. 3 Saints Velociraptors play late in the 4th, both teams playing their hearts out, nail biter the whole way, energetic announcers - game of the season for the league IMO. NFL at its absolute best.
BOTH Seattle games were also outstanding nail-biters. Dre Greenlaw made huge plays and was Seattle's nemesis in both games. Russell Wilson and Jadeveon Clowney were outstanding in this game. Both were just a terror for the '9ers. Clowney struck me with awe - how he can be so fast and have some much power and energy not just in the 4th quarter, but in OT??! How can you play 110% pedal-to-the-metal for 5 quarters straight without missing hardly a play?? What an amazing athlete.

    • @rhmayer1
      @rhmayer1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@KurlzzPlays If it's any consolation, I caught a post-game interview with a 49er who said that they (Dre Greenlaw and possibly others) practice that exact goal line tackle. It wasn't just a lucky, good tackle. They focus on angles, body rotation, etc. The game has really elevated over the years, using technology, etc. where teams pick key aspects and opportunities and just drill down and practice hard. They also have focused practices on catching tipped balls - making receivers tip but not catch intentionally, just to practice defender's quick agility (tip drills). We all know how they practice stripping the ball and punching the ball as you reach to tackle, etc. Surely many other common and potential opportunities, as well. Well-practiced small adjustments at key moments create big plays; they create momentum changes, turnovers, and win games. Not enough credit goes to coaching and technical staff on the teams for the continual evolving of this great game of American football.

Yeah the MVP awards nowadays goes to the QB of whatever team is the best right now, instead of who puts his whole team on his back and is a true MVP.
Sadly the Seahawks offense is only good because of Russ, so he will probably never win MVP.

    • @drewmcdaniel2672

“...deserves to win ‘a MVP [sic]’ before his career ends?”
He has already been robbed of about three of them, tbh. The NFL’s wack all-or-none, one candidate voting system disadvantages a guy like Russ, who has likely been #2 or better on just about everybody’s list every year since 2014.
Groupthink makes voters want to preserve their votes, i.e., ensure that their vote isn’t “wasted” on a guy who cannot win under the all-or-none system.
So they wind up voting for the player with the most hype...the player for whom they feel most other voters will vote.
In a ranking system, Russ or Brees might have won the MVP over Mahomes in 2018.
Lastly, the MVP award has been bastardized into something it shouldn’t be.
It isn’t necessarily the player with the most gaudy volume stats.
It isn’t necessarily the player whose team has the best record.
It isn’t the player who makes the most exciting plays.
The MVP is supposed to be the guy whose play most impacts his team’s success.
That player should ALSO be a standout who has great stats, plays for a winning team - or a team that would otherwise lose more games without him - and creates excitement.
By that standard, Russ has been the league MVP every year since about 2014, with the exception of 2019. LJ flat-out took it from everybody!
Mahomes did not deserve his MVP, and I’ll explain why I feel this way.
First, his success was largely due to his supporting cast, and the system in which he plays. This was evidenced by his underwhelming play against tough teams like the Rams, Patriots, and Chargers.
He also got schooled head-to-head by Russ during that season, which many people conveniently forget. He and the Chiefs also lost to the Patriots in that year’s AFC title game.
Mahomes lost all four of his prime-time games in his MVP year, and then got handheld by the Patriots (a team that never has an answer for Russ).
That was the equivalent of a boxer losing the majority of his rounds in a title fight, and then getting knocked down in the last round, but being awarded the judges’ decision regardless because he was so exciting in the 5 rounds he won. It makes absolutely no sense!
Furthermore, Mahomes’s impact on the Chiefs’ success has been low! A +2 win differential from the Alex Smith era was/is unimpressive for me, especially given his stellar supporting cast. They proved in 2019 that they could win without him.
Russ is at his best under pressure...against the league’s best teams and QB’s (this 49ers game is case-in-point!), almost never loses in prime time, maintains outstanding stats year-in and year-out (especially efficiency), and accounts for an estimated win differential of about +7.
The Seahawks would be drafting #2 or #3 every season without him, and the teams whose records would be similar actually have supporting casts similar to that of the Seahawks.
That is the DEFINITION of most VALUABLE player.
Did Russ deserve the 2016 MVP? His TD numbers were down because of injuries suffered against the Dolphins, and he shouldn’t have played for half of the games that year.
He rebounded to lead the ‘Hawks to the playoffs! So that’s questionable, but Matt Ryan was deserving.
Did Russ deserve the 2019 MVP? No, but it would have still been a close vote under the right voting system.
LJ played his tail off, but did he do lore for the Ravens than Russ did for the ‘Hawks?! That could be argued either way.
It is worth noting that Russ rushed for 846 yards in 2014 (out-rushing half the league), the most since Michael Vick, but didn’t sniff an MVP.
LJ won the 2019 MVP largely by virtue of his rushing total, which was just 300 more than Russ’s 2014 total.
Russ’s 2014 passing numbers were better than LJ’s 2019 numbers, and unlike LJ Russ led his team to the Super Bowl in 2014 - while going through a divorce, no less!
What I’m getting at is, they keep moving the goal posts on Russ. In 2014, all we ever heard were questions about whether Russ could be a full-time pocket QB, despite the fact that he had already demonstrated that he could.
      Rodgers won it that year.
In 2019, LJ was...”the new-age QB”...the signal of the changing of the guard. All of a sudden, being a “rushing QB” was a good thing. LJ was perceived as a look at the future.
Russ in 2014 showed that he could not only rush but do it all; yet he didn’t receive a single MVP vote!
They keep moving the goalposts on Russ. Neither Mahomes nor LJ have done anything that Russ hasn’t done.
Even in 2018, controlling for pass attempts, Russ’s volume stats were virtually identical to the 5,000 yards, 50 TD’s and 12 INT’s Mahomes achieved on 37 APG.
Russ had 3,448 yards, 35 TD’s and 7 INT’s on 26 APG. Those are virtually equivalent stats.
Russ threw the ball 11 fewer times per game, and even that statistic should be discounted because Russ’s pass attempts were inflated due to Pete’s system - which often left the Seahawks playing from behind in the 4th quarter.
Russ was really throwing about 24-25 attempts per game to Mahomes’s 37.
This is why Russ has flirted with getting out of Seattle. He wants to play in a better media market or for a team with a bigger brand...AND A BETTER COACH!

Meaning he was down 14 nothing in a flash from a punt return and another quick score. Now at that time the Seahawks look bad granted they were down 14 zip and it was and Teddy Bridgewater played as starter and got lots of experience from the week before because Drew was hurt in the first drive. Russ has been robbed of about three MVP’s.

Who drafted Tartt,Buckner, Armstead, and Ward. That's right kiddies it was Trent Baeke, but of course the turn around was all due to the overrated Harbough. Wilson was pushed back 5yds after initial contact on the double fumble. Forward progress. I've seen additional film review which shows that Wilson's face mask was being yanked on the play.m
