The price! At the the time I purchased the hydrus was significantly less than the excel. If I didn't have any budget restraints then I'd of got an Frib!
Hi Adam. I've got the excel 395 vanguard. They are indeed a high quality SIB and on the whole I was happy with the purchase. I looked at the hydrus and I wish I'd bought that. The reason, is that Carlo has really thought about the setup for fishing and the hydrus is bang on for that. Excel's customer service has been slow and not the greatest from my dealings with them. Hope that helps a bit if you've not already made your purchase?

I've not used many but I would say the striker 4 is a brilliant unit for the price. I've had mine for 4 years on a kayak at first and now the SIB. It's not had an easy life in fact I cut the transducer cable in half with the prop and had to solder it back together. Never let me down though I can't fault it.

SE Cornwall is my home turf and I've found it slow. Seems to be some good fishing in the rest of the county though!

Dose your fishfinder pick up individual fish or just shoals of fish thank you davey
It can be quite hard to recognize individual fish but it's definitely possible with pollock over shallow reef. Shoals usually appear but not always.
