Same. I just like to be able to actually build my models. Metal figures are cool though don't get me wrong. I just wish there were more buildable metal kits out there.
I just noticed without the wings it looks pretty similar to the Gundam F91, albeit without some of that UC boxiness. They're both Kunio Okawara designs so that's not an earthshaking revelation or anything, but seeing them side-by-side they would make an interesting kitbash.
I like the face on the robot damashi more than the HG ver, the face plate being more whole and solid looks much better than having "jaw-bones" under the plate.
I have both Metal Robot Spirit Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice, and they are both awesome!! And I really can’t wait for the Metal Robot Spirit Strike Freedom type 2, Infinite Justice type 2, and Destiny Spec 2!
This side by side comparison is what i need. Basically, to make the HG even better, the following modificationa are required. - Torso, arms, thighs, front skirt, back pack's "engine intakes" require extension. - v-fins requires lengthening and sharpening. - wings require modification to its joints to be able to "close" them. Wing panels require further lengthening and sharpening. - sharpening of the edges of the shoulder armor to make them more angular. - elbow and knee joints can be extended a little to match the previous extensions. - fully closed fists when applicable.
hey, unrelated but im new to hobby. I heard they were rerunning the gundam stargazer hg, but it's not coming to any local store. anyone know where I can order it?
Just got mine last week and love it so much..However I hope you will do more size comparison between Metal Robot Spirit and HG and amongst Metal Robot line. I heard that Wing series was a bit larger than other series like Seed and IBO..Hope you will do for the next Metal Robot line review. As always, love your review @mecha gaikotsu
Metal robot damashii can be seen as the RG of robot damashii figures. They're both around 1/144 scale or the size of your typical 1/12 scale Japanese Action Figure like a figma. Metal Build are the ones around 1/100 scale. They are completely separate from the damashii line.
the HG is good and can imitate MB with proper spray painting (gunmetal frame, pearlized silver finish over the whites) and add water decal to it and voila
@@zannusx Prefer model kits that get close enough, since model kits were made to a specific scale (unless specified otherwise), figures generally made not to scale (again unless specified, with enough evidence, otherwise)
Bandai being lazy and keep milking Seed series is nothing surprising, and they shouldn't be suprised either with how rampant the bootlegs and 3rd parties pumping out more demanded kits (such as the recenly new MG Physalis Gundam). Look, i don't hate Seed series but many people wanted new lines of kits from other series such as IBO. Have we ever see another IBO MG after Barbatos? Or at least other Gundam frames that ONLY appears in the mobile game?
I’m preferring the HG over the metal build. I find that the only thing I’m liking from the metal build are the wings and expressive hands. The HG’s eyes has a certain sharpness that has that gundam intimidation. I’m liking that the the red on the chest of the HG is actually parts separated, so you won’t end up with that blue under the lip unlike the metal build. If anything it has me more eager on getting another HG Rising to paint this time around
There is no RG yet...this year's RG will probably be either of the following: Turn A, Wing Gundam 0(TV aka Proto Zero) ; or Master Gundam....or if they aren't doing any AU at all: Gundam F91; ZZ Gundam;...V2 Gundam.
The HG looks a lot better in my eyes, mainly due to how the proportions of the legs are bit more "balanced" compared to the MRS version. Still, the MRS version does look much closer to how the Rising Freedom looks in the movie compared to the HG. Also, the fact that the white stripes on the MRS wings are directly painted on instead of being raised actually makes it look a lot better, along with the fact that the stripes are thinner overall.
I wish this wasn't in the metal subline and was a normal Robot Spirits release, so the price would be lower. I might cop the Immortal Justice spec 2 since its one of my favorite deaigns
I don't know if it just me but from what I see, the lower leg part actually looks on the same size both on the gunpla and figure. But from knee above, it goes larger. If you did compared the two like this, they gave me the gunpla one actually have larger lower leg
Well... for $150 I will comment that aesthetically it destroys the HG out of the box. Still, with a master Gunpla builder/ scriber, the "potential" of the HG will surpass the figure. The proportions and function of the figure is overall dominant though. My only preference is that the size of the MRS Rising Freedom was on the same size scale as a Master Grade -which would make it a significant buy but would also be more significantly expensive too.
On its own it’s cool, but bc it’s a FREEDOM Gundam, I do not like it, it’s getting too toy like, like something I’d see in a build fighter/diver series and not an actually Gundam, the freedom was epic, and the strike freedom elevated it, this is straying too far away, it would been nicer to see an ungraded strike freedom than a completely new Gundam
8:20 Dang that's one pew pew beam saber! 😂
Glad I’m not the only one who noticed lol
Beam sabers in America:
If wanting to fully paint a HG kit version, this figure is the best color reference guide. From rich blue, metalic and so on. 😁
8:18, the what now ? Bruh done Gouf'd
Still prefer the model kit over the figure, but it looks dope
Agreed
Why is that?
Same. I just like to be able to actually build my models. Metal figures are cool though don't get me wrong. I just wish there were more buildable metal kits out there.
Agreed and also these things are so damn expensive than your normal gunpla too
@@illerhumpy3867yea it’s unfortunate that bandai doesn’t have any. I know some China brands like Motor Nuclear have them, I even built one myself.

I'm certain that the metal figure is more anime accurate.
It is. I own 2 of them. Metal Robot Spirits are meant to be as close to the source material as it can be.

Robot spirit is metal parts inside?
@@matthewhong1212 yes
Woww you have lots of money huh😅
They should have given the HG the metal robot proportions hehehehehe
Beam riffle handle looks movable and side skirt railgun are they extendable?
Man will we get a MG of the new Freedom and Justice suits??
likely in 5ish years or more hahah. To be fair its possible wed get an FM before then
Bandai makes less than 5 MG every year, good luck with that

There are 3D printed parts available out there so I think I would just buy that instead :P
Seriously want to challenge you to a rodams review. That thing nearly made me want to walk away from the hobby
You forgot an important joint! With wings‘ cannons can move up and down in „full burst mode“ no other freedom has such joint, not even MG
This is the first review I've seen of the Rising Freedom and my goodness that's a transformation that makes Wing look like a Bayformer
Ngl i preferred hg more than robot spirit but the wing for robot spirit is so dope
This figures proportions are a lot closer to the movie cg model than the HG.
Mine just arrived and it’s my first Metal Robot Spirit Gundam, I’m having troubles mounting it on the stand though. Do I need an adapter for it??
The figure looks fantastic. Thank you for the great review. 🤘🔥
Wasn't the wing suppose to be move down a bit when in MA mode?

The rising freedom design has grown on me. It looks really good.
Hey mecha when you getting back on discord?
🤘 Awesome review, now I want to get this Gundam too! 🤖
didnt know it came with 3 beam sabers! wow, these kits going above and beyond
Looks awesome. I'll hold out for a Metal Build though, these Robot Damashii figures are so expensive and they're not very big.
Is there a different line between metal robot damashii and robot damashii? I was under the impression the metal builds are 1/100?

Please review the full armour unicorn ver ka, its my birthday soon and im wondering whether i should buy it instead of Wing Zero EW Ver ka.
This has wing zero and death scyhthe hellall rolled into one crazy combo.
When will we get a 1/100 version?
Recommend this one?

Bamco really said “1/144” on their site… “1/144” my arse!

The thing is I reckon if you put a little bit more effort on the hg and like 10 quid of paint then it’d look just as good for a lot cheaper.
Bandai being lazy and keep milking Seed series is nothing surprising, and they shouldn't be suprised either with how rampant the bootlegs and 3rd parties pumping out more demanded kits (such as the recenly new MG Physalis Gundam).

IBO is not that popular in Japan so that's understandable....We need more MG GP series in 2.0 instead of IBO.
Prefer the wing on model kit tho, although I wish the HG kit wing could be move to narrow or widen the gap between them.

The blue on the lip of the chest is accurate based on the lineart and the movie CGI model.
You should buy a 4k camera please. good review thanks
The tip of the red sliding part on the shield on mine was bent up when I got it. Otherwise mine is perfect.
8:18 Beam saber ??
Torso: HG
Legs: MRD
Wings: MRD

meanwhile waiting for the MG kit version because bigger.
I had the Metal Robot Rising Freedom, and the HG Justice
