  • We've not had a cordless Dyson yet this year, so here today is a DC59 which needs everything it could ever need (except a battery) doing to it! Let me show you how to repair your cordless Dyson and save lots of money.

    Brilliant video, I had only half stripped mine down before, thanks for showing the full strip down and little tips and tricks how to get some of the tricky bits apart 🙂👍🏼👍🏼

    Fantastic, helpful video. Made me realise where I went wrong, trying to fix mine. I've now had to order a new replacement part, due to my own failure, but at least I now KNOW why it wasn't working properly!

    Imagine how many of those design of powerheads have been scrapped or thrown away when they stop revolving - all down to hair build up behind the spindle, as you showed - you need a very small torx bit to remove the spindle to access the hidden trapped hair, and how many households will have a T8 torx screwdriver? Not many, and not many people would realise the real reason why their power head wasn't spinning any more. I call that design the best of built in obsolescence, where James Dyson engineers a product that after a couple of years of use in an average home where there are pets or women with long hair, packs up due to hair getting built up in a very inconspicuous place, which is also very difficult to clear out without removing the spindle, and the spindle cannot be removed without a specialist tool to remove a very well hidden screw, that most people simply dont own.
    Not forgetting of course the notorious filters that fill up with hair and debris on the inside, which eventually builds up enough to block off the airflow and the motor starts pulsing on MAX. People don't realise that they have to separate the cone filter from its internal cage, to remove the hidden buildup of dirt inside the filter.
    Oh, and also not forgetting that the batteries on these only have a limited number of charge cycles before the pack up - usually between 250 and 500 cycles, so after 2 - 3 years, the batteries start to fade and then dont hold enough charge to power the machine for longer than a minute or less - meaning you need to shell out for a new battery pack.
    Oh, and also, the issue with the carbon fibre filaments on the brush-rolls wearing out prematurely on certain types of flooring, leaving them bald of black bristles.
    Indeed, Mr Dyson has engineered many ways to have the product fail within 5 years, so you have to go out and buy the latest Dyson cordless at over £500. He's worth over 10 billion, and rubbing his hands together at all the mugs that dash out and buy his latest overpriced offerings, only to have them pack up again after a few years, due to Mr Dyson's built in obsolescence.

      They do have the full house bingo of things that can go wrong don't they! I charge £60 for all of it, and it takes maybe an hour of work (I don't count waiting for the filter to dry etc) and the owners always very happy for the fix! They make great bargain buys now, but any cheap used one now needs an hour spent on it to come back to new, and then their canny little vacs again!

    Great video. Used it to fully disassemble and clean my V6 that we haven’t used for a couple if years because it was so bad. Nearly bought a new one, but glad I didn’t. Amazing the difference a full clean makes. Like new now!

    Great video, much appreciated. Do you know if there is in fact any way to get that one little pivoting wheel out? That's the very part that has fallen to bits and needs replacing.

    • @beko1987

      The bouncy wheel at the back? If you've lifted the entire assembly out the little wheel axle will pop out with a bit of screwdrivering to open the housing up a bit.

    Another great video! I've noticed there are lots of Dc59 & V6 models going cheap after christmas. It seems most people have upgraded to the V8. A full refurbished V6 goes for around £80 at this moment in time.

      @@hugohenderson1788 their far less bulky than the v10/11 too! I find them a bit too short to use comfortably, the v10/11 is taller when you hold it but bar that, their fine bargain buys nowadays! I've seen dyson outlet ones for £120 recently, and at that price they'll still be a better buy than whatever the cuttent vax cordless is!

      @@beko1987 I haven't had a chance to get my hands on a V10 or V11 just yet! Once the V12 comes out or whatever they decide to call it, there will be lots of V8s up for grabs. I seen them up for £120 also. They have to be V6 Absolute with all the accessories & possibly the original box or some sort of warranty to go for that.

    Great video. Really useful. I fixed my head and all is working except.... when I connect the purple downpipe, the head is intermittent. this isn't a connection problem though. The head HAS connection 100% of the time but sometimes it cuts out. I'm an electrical guy and i measured continuity down the pipe. It's fine of course but.. when I measure across the two terminals in the pipe with it off the machine I get a resistance of about 18K Ohms. I'm sure that this is causing my on-off issue but I don't have another pipe to compare it against. If you have a multimeter can you please measure your downpipe and tell me if you have an open circuit or you have a resistance there as well. I have no other way of finding this out unless I buy another pipe!

      Hi! Ive not got a v6 in at the moment but I do have a V8, I'll measure it for you and report back 👍 I guess the head runs fine and dandy connected straight to the machine. I've known the connecting pins corrode badly and cause issues, don't know if that's something you've checked for?

  • @hugohenderson1788
    @hugohenderson1788 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just want to double check, I remember you saying from another video that you can NOT put the V6 Absolute hepa filter in the washing machine. Is that right? Many thanks

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so, sure its paper. The normal inside cyclone one you can, but I'd not risk the hepa post filter

    Just disassembled ours. But i narrowed my issue down to the extension wand. The head operates fine if connected directly to the motor. Only with the wand does everything not function. The wand is only $25 US. But i am still going to try and take it apart

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good luck! If you've got a multimeter you could confirm, and I'd say to try and open the ends up on the wand and clean the contacts at either end first. It should come apart, but you might need to be careful not to chew the plastic up much!

    Corner screws on that head are T10. One long hair person or animal in the house will clog up most brush heads. Dyson heads seem very prone to that. How about a strip down table top, with a tripod on the far side, looking down and a magnetic tray for screws.

    • @beko1987

      I'll try that, thanks! It does feel awquard filming these handhelds on the floor, it's OK for the full size machines! I've got a DC30 to do, I shall try your suggestion. Please stick around and let me know what you think of it when it's done!
