I just can’t stop listening to this version. It sounds so perfect for a great jug band style. This is in your blood when you descend from Arkansas peach farmers as I do.
Julianne has the voice break and she makes it seem like its a cute accident when it happens... But we all know she's controlling every aspect of it. Absolutely incredible. I can't get enough of yall.
What a family! They just continue to impress. I remember when Julianne was just adding harmony here and there while strumming a few chords on the mandolin. Now she's developed into a topnotch folk/(real) country singer. Ellen can hold her own with about any current banjo player out there, and has a voice that equals that of Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent et al. I've been playing electric and acoustic guitar for 45 years, from roots music to jazz, but have mostly concentrated in the blues/rock/folk genres (Stephen Stills was my first guitar hero just because he could do it all), but discovered bluegrass about 20 years ago, and have become a huge fan; my point being I'm familiar with all the great bluegrass and (real) country players out there (I'm not talking about what I recently heard a guy describe as "tractor rap", i.e., so-called modern country; I hate that stuff, it's so inauthentic). Poor Katie doesn't get nearly enough credit despite her undeniable skills on violin and as a singer (though she strikes me as the really brainy, deep thinker of the group; just a hunch). And while Matt mostly plays rhythm, he does it really well, like Del McCoury. That isn't easy to do in bluegrass. I find it easier to play SRV, Clapton, and Santana note-for-note lead on electric than to really keep that solid chunk-a-chunk bluegrass rhythm going, though I've learned to do it. And the dobro player could hold his own with Jerry Douglas. I think they should try writing some original songs, and maybe collaborate with someone like Molly Tuttle or Sierra Hull (who's a dedicated Christian, so she'd fit right in). Meanwhile, I'll keep downloading their music through my iTunes subscription, watching every YT video post, and posting their stuff on FB and sending it to my friends to get them on board. I barely knew Branson existed most of these years, but am now planning a trip there with my wife JUST to make sure I see these guys live.
This girl's voice is a unique gift. She should keep singing. She will do very well if she doesn't listen to the critics who's musical ignorance, lack of musical experience, and lack of musical skill would discourage her. It is the uniqueness of her voice that makes her so special. KEEP ON SINGING AND IGNORE THE CRITICS WHO HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT WITH MUSIC. YOU WILL DO VERY WELL AND LAST OVER THE YEARS.
Wow! It's already been said here... but yes TWO of my favorite groups playing together. Reina and Toni's voices combined with Julianne's... AND the the Petersons all in one set. It's like peanut butter & jelly... no it's... like vanilla and chocolate! PS. Your dobro player us becoming one of my favorite dobro artists. His sense of rhythm is so superb! It reminds me of the very first time i heard Jerry Douglas.
dude i said it in another video this is awesome.. i first came across reina and her crew a few weeks ago and then saw the petersens.. both are sooo awesome, and i was like man if they only played together sometime..... and bammmm here we are even tho they had already did it before i was thinking about it, cause this was last year haha but awesome
Omg, I think I've died and gone to Heaven! I've enjoyed Reina del Cid's music for many years and I love her and Toni's music! Now I see them both playing with my newest favorite band, The Petersens! It just doesn't get better than this! Thanks for sharing!
Two of my favorite TH-cam bands finally playing together. I had only hoped for this. The only way to improve this is to have The Other Favorites playing along. The perfect trifecta! Julianne is perfect for this song!
Oh My!! Family and friends! So well done! I recall this great song when Glen put it on the radio...and a beautiful rendition all around, family and friends!
Would love to see the Petersens host artists like Reina del Cid at their theater in Branson; that would be relevant and innovative. Julianne, wow, always...wow.
Mark Solvie if we could we would!!!! We’ve dreamed of doing something like that for a long time, but we don’t own the theater we play in so it’s unfortunately not up to us. Maybe someday in the future! -Ellen
@@ThePetersens The short and ignorant answer is to move to Music City and have your own theater on the strip; but that's a whole different onion to peel and finance. I’m begging here, I really need to hear Julieanne sing more! I can’t find words to describe her voice but she’s amazing and that truly beautiful sound can make me smile!
Pete from Texas. Southern nights. Your mother was outstanding on that bass. I enjoy how you all step up and SHINE on your instruments. I will be sharing your group with other church members. Again GOD bless. Now on to the next videos......😎🎸
Julianne is so incredibly amazing... I have listened to this song like 10X....and still luving how gorgeous her voive and presense is throughout the song...I marvel at just how lovely she sounds....SHE IS DEFINITELY GOING STRAIGHT TO THE TOP 😃
So classy! Consider "No future in the past"? A simple song but you gotta have the pipes to harmonize and no body does that like you all do. So PLEASE Petersen-ize it for us. Such a treat to watch Julianne blossoming, gaining more confidence. Love all you guys
Many people can sing well but how you sing is what makes the difference. Julianne has a very unique voice, filled with with fragility and emotion...the kind of stuff record producers look for.
I am wondering if this kid has any iota of just how beautiful and sweet she sounds singing this song, may God keep his hand on this young lady's heart,,,thinks so much for uploading this,,gb
Yes. Hers is always a great addition to the song, but often doesn't stand out like the other instruments. Mama nailed this one and became a feature of the song.
Another huge winner! Very nicely done. And it was a big surprise to see Reina and Toni standing in - I'm a huge fan of those two as well and didn't expect to see the two crews collaborating. Sounded wonderful, which is no surprise I guess. Excellent. Two thumbs way up.
God has really blessed you young adults with such amazing gifts. I have been a musician since I was 8 and I am now 46. I have never seen so much talent in my life. You girls are amazing and young men are as well. WOW is all I can say!
Nicely done! Yet another reason why I'd like to get to Branson. Your show will be the first I book when I get there. Thanks for sharing and keep it up! Appreciate you sharing your talent!
*OH MY GOD!!* Reina!!!! I forgot all about you. I didn't realize you were still making music!!! I remember you made two (2) songs I used to *LOVE* in high school one about Panama and the other one about a library. I just scoured your channel and I'm SO GLAD to see you've succeeded in music. I know I don't know you at all, but this is so cool seeing someone I used to connect with make it big and keep on going strong!
*LYRICS - Southern Nights*
------------
Southern nights
Have you ever felt a southern night
Free as a breeze
And not to mention the trees
Whistling tunes that you know and love so
Southern nights
Just as good even when close your eyes
I apologize to anyone who can truly say
He has found a better way
Southern skies
Have you ever felt a southern skies
Its precious beauty lies just beyond the eye
It goes running through your soul
Like the stories told of old
Old man
He and his dog they walked the old land
Every flower touched his cold hand
As he slowly walked by
Weeping willows would cry for joy
Feels so good
Feels so good it's frightening
Wish I could
Stop this world from fighting
La-da-da daa-da…
Mysteries
Like this and many others in the trees
Blow in the night
In those southern skies
Southern nights
Feels so good it's frightening
Wish I could
Stop this world from fighting
La-da-da daa-da…

Go back, listen to it again and isolate the bass in your mind. It’s wonderful. Good job Mom.
Julianne's voice has that perfect amount of air-i-ness mixed with that High, Lonesome sound that is so needed in bluegrass.. Its Perfect
Love that voice
Her voice!!!
High and lonesome sound. That's kind of what makes Bluegrass, Bluegrass.
Julieanne's unique voice turns out more powerful and rich every day!
True, but she can also harmonize on bass very well. She's got the time and talent for a great musical future if she chooses it.
Hear that voice people? Did you hear her voice....I melt!
Such a blast making music with you all. Thanks so much for jamming with us! ❤️
I've been following "subscribed" to both you and the Petersens for a long time now and it is so cool to see you guys jamming together! Thanks!

Listening in stormy England, big smile on my face.
well-said! :-)
Two groups that I am a fan of. This is a lifetime cool.
No one can sing quite like this young woman, unique intonation and style, just brilliant.

Julianne's style of singing goes very well to this song, but she is so versatile with multiple songs. Nice work!!!
That woman on the bass really rocks.
