    I like how you keep a far distance in certain more important portions and disassemble the parts at a speed that someone with no mechanical knowledge would appreciate

    Followed this to a T I had no rear brake when I bought my 2003 VTX a couple months ago now that it’s riding season here in Connecticut I figured I better bleed the system and see if that brings my rear brake back and wow this was so thourough and helpful I feel like a pro haha and now my rear is working perfectly there was tons of air in the system, the guy I bought the bike from assures me the breaks were just done by a professional. I’m happy I can safely ride now thanks to partzilla!!!

    That's a great method if you want to jam all of the dirt on your pistons into the seals and mark up your disk by prying on it. Do it properly people, take the caliper off and clean the pistons before you drive them into the seals then use to old brake pad to push the pistons in.

      We have found that brake calipers are engineered to keep the dirt and crud out of the piston seals. Compressing them won't cause harm to the system. Of course, if that's a concern for you, we encourage you to do what makes you comfortable when working on your ride.

    I was doing something wrong for too long a time trying to compress the brake pucks. Watched this video and was done in 10 minutes. Need to make an extended 5mm hex adapter though. Thank you.

    I wouldn't use a screwdriver over the rotor to push the pistons back, since it would damage the rotor.

      Hi Orlando! Thanks for the suggestion. We'll add it to the list. We actually have some VTX electrical videos in the queue already but nothing ATV electric for 2017 yet.

    Sorry....typo on the mileage....every 8k miles...LOL...not 800.

  • @rbljackson
    @rbljackson 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    One question for both the front and rear brakes, do you need to use any type of brake grease for the contact points, or anti seize on the pins? I don't have the Honda manual to reference, but that procedure looked pretty straight forward for sure! Oh..second question, any plans to do a valve clearance inspection/adjustment video? That procedure has cost me some $$$ over the years! Every 800 miles, and I have 32k on mine. I should really research that procedure and see and try, but its somewhat intimidating.

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello rbljackson. no type of grease/anti seize is required for the pins.
      for your other question... we still have the vtx available to work on, i will bring it up in one of our meetings and see if its something we can do.
