- Aeon's End Playthrough/Gameplay vs Carapace Queen on Extinction Mode
Extinction mode is the hardest official mode in Aeon's End prior to the expedition format introduced with Wave 4.
Increased difficulity, 10 Extra life to the Nemesis, 5 less to Gravehold, and 2 less to players.
We only used the base game, as we believe there are enough tools in the game where the Nemesis origins from without needing to look at other additions.
The Supply
Gems -
Searing Ruby (4) - Gain 2 Aether. Gain an additional 1 Aether that can only be used to gain a spell.
Diamond Cluster (4) - Gain 2 Aether. If this is the second time you have played a Diamond Cluster this turn, gain an additional 2 Aether.
Clouded Saphire (6) - Gain 3 Aether. If this is the first time you have played Clouded Saphire this turn, any ally gains 1 Charge.
Relics -
Flexing Dagger (2) - The next time you focus or open a breach this turn, it costs 3 Aether less OR Destroy this. Deal 1 damage.
Blasting Staff (4) - You may cast a prepped spell that you prepped this turn. If you do, that spell deals 2 additional damage.
Spells -
Spectral Echo (3) - Cast: Deal 2 damage. You may destroy a card in hand.
Essence Theft (5) - Cast: Deal 3 damage. You may discard a card in hand. If you do, any player gains 1 life.
Planar Insight (6) - Cast: Deal 2 damage. Deal 1 additional damage for each of your opened breaches.
Consuming void (7) - Cast: Destroy up to two cards in your hand. Deal 3 damage for each card destroyed in this way.

As Grzegorz points out, at 17:30 Jian forgets to deal 2dmg to Carapage Queen when using Black Mirror to double cast Spectral Echo. This won't have an effect on the game as we will still be able to win on the same round.
As for the charges, I do put the charge die away from the charge area, though I do acknowledge that it is not visualy appearent that I do. Rest assured that I don't use the ability twice in a row before having been charged up from 0.
Best Aeon's End gameplay video I've ever seen. I like the way you guys continuously made Xaxos use his ability at the end of the round, to control all six cards every round. Also the life management with the husks was beautifully done.

PS please check 17:30 i think you missed 2 dmg from second cast? and did you remove charges?
I think that explains why the numbers have gone up so rapidly compared to the size of the channel haha! Thank you ^_^
You are right, I did indeed miss that 2dmg that would have been dealt to C. Queen. So, I would have gotten the killing blow in the end...
For the charges, I do move it slight bit away and I move the die back into my charge area at 22:51 when Xaxos uses their ability, as well I don't use my ability before this point. So yeah, I do remove them. Even then I would still think that I don't make it obvious enough when I do move the die away to show I have removed them!
Your gameplay it's quick and interesting, but what's more important, it looks like you're having fun with it at it makes watching you even more cool. Also, you always describe your choices and strategy and I am very thankfull for that - good luck in future and I wish you could make some more videos, or stream sometimes. Bests!

@@sedlak87 Eh, it is not too bad. I sit on a chair and most stuff I am doing is away from the floor anyway. My partner sits on the floor so she is not bending over for it!
Damn, I tried carapace queen a loooot of times on hard mode (true solo, only one mage), I thought it was nearly impossible or very luck dependant.
EDIT: Shouldn't you discard cards you bought with ether last ?

Not sure what you mean by your edit. The cards you play from your hand goes into the "play zone" and are first discarded at the end of turn. Any card you buy/gain is placed on top of your discard immidiately unless otherwise stated. I hope that gives an answer to your question :)
@@oarmfan I mean, at 2:28 for example, you bought a diamond cluster, and put in on your pile without discarding the gems you used to buy it first, is that allowed ?
Btw I finally managed this damn carapace queen, but soloing crooked mask on hard mode looks even harden, you don't have several mages to spread the corruption cards :(
I looked back at the time stamp you mentioned. I believe I see the crystals being discarded after the Diamond Cluster is bought, as per the rules.
Well done on soloing Carapace Queen! And Crooked Mask is indeed tough to deal with, especially on True Solo! I advice to try going as aggro as you possibly can! Maybe look to my "One with the corruption" video for inspiration? 😅
