I so look forward to each new episode. Though you find gross things, you just calmly tackle whatever you find, and get the job done. I look forward to seeing what you do with this space. A good days work!
Doug, those little fake "fix 'em up" t.v. programs can't hold a candle to you! You made that demolition look so easy. Doug & Ashley great work! I certainly can see the potential, for a much better kitchen now. You both will make it exactly how you want it, it will be perfect! Looking forward to next time.Take care and God Bless.
Fellow, I hope you know just what kind of a great woman you've got backing you up! I've been watching every video, and she's there making every step you are. That's a hard working woman. You better hang on to her, you've got one of the good ones!
Um. I guess she's providing emotional support, i don't see her doing hardly any work. Maybe behind the camera? Maybe she can't because of health problems, but I find it a little frustrating to watch her do nothing while he rips out cabinets and drywall.
@@kcanded they have kids, so she is probably checking in with him inbetween and take are of the kids, cooking, doing homework with them, cleaning, whatever. She has a lot of other task to do probably. Don't assume she's doing nothing just because you don't see her that much. Maybe even cleaning up all the mess outside, loading the truck with trash, taking care of the animals, whatever.
@@kcanded Are you new to the channel? Ashley is right next to Doug in every step of this renovation. They do have two children that she may have to go check on. Doug did most of the demo, while Ashley organizes the demo scrap outside.
kcanded ....What? Doug demolishes and Ashley is there carting stuff out, all the time, she backs him up. If she was missing here for a while it most likely had to do with the kids, or some essential like cooking or hanging out washing.
@@kcanded That's terribly presumptuous. She does a lot of work as far as I've watched. They edit their videos also so how do we really see what she does? Also, we do not know what their personal setup is, maybe they have an agreement on how much each of them does. Ashley really is an awesome woman and I would go so far as to say I slightly envy this "power couple". Assumption is a horrible thing. 😕
Yesss!!! I was hoping you'd go with a bigger window above the sink! Man, it looks like a beautiful , blank canvas to create a new kitchen, how exciting. We're all stoked, go team Doug and Ashley!!
Hi from Scotland hi I have been watching your vidios but I don't usually comment by I have to say I wish you and your lovely family all the very best on refurbishing your home I bet you had great joy ripping that kitchen out stay safe take care Anne Scott from Scotland
Hi Doug & Ashley, love watching your remodel.Your personalities are wonderful & love all your smiles even through the hard times.Bless you & your family.😊
Great job . That has to be so satisfying. You should keep all these videos on a special drive if you ever sell this house to show potential buyers how much work you have done
Enjoy watching you and Ashley turning an out dated home that needed so much repair and making it work for your family, whenever an unexpected problem you regroup and it get done...I'm not your mom, but I am so proud of you and Ashley
It just gets better and better, even my hubby is riveted cant wait for more. Ashley you are lucky to have a man who can fix anything just like me, they are godsends. GREAT JOB. From the desert southwest.🤩😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I think Doug really enjoyed demolishing those kitchen cupboards. You two work so fast! Glad the carpenter ant damage was not super bad. Thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
That kitchen looked nice and the appliances looked new. That's why you can't judge a book by the cover, with the ants and mice damage hiding underneath.....can't wait to see the new finished kitchen. You two do excellent work.
Doug you are like a one man wrecking ball.Once you get going swinging that hammer, that stuff is history. Great demo an usual. Looking forward to seeing you guys vision of your new kitchen and utility- pantry room. Great video. God Bless.👍
That is cheap mobile home construction for you. Looks better already. Like the blue flooring. It is going to look so much better when you are finally finished. Looking forward to seeing the finished product on your house. I am so proud of you two. God Bless you both.
I don't know what it is but I find it strangely relaxing watching you guys demo, you make it look easy. It's amazing to me how thin our barrier really is to the outside world, we feel safe inside but it's an illusion. : ) You guys are such a pleasure to watch and you are beasts at work! God Bless.
That looks so much better. You are going to have a nice, clean, beautiful house. Ashley you are amazing the way you work right alongside your husband, doing the heavy work too. Bless you guys. What a big job tho! We did something similar to our house too. It had carpenter ants and mice feces as well. Ripped everything out too, only way to do it. Bless you guys.
Why is it so much fun watching someone else destroy something?? I feel a sense of relief as if I helped. Weird. Renovating like this give a whole new meaning to home gym. Seems u guys get quite the workout. Happy there wasn't as much damage as thought. Don't worry about those globes Ashley I'm sure u will find something even better. (Although I did laugh when u broke one). So here we go.... onward and upward.... the excitement builds.
I must say I’ve never seen anyone working as hard as you and your wife do. As I’ve said before your work ethic is so good and exact to do what you want and is needed to better your home. As always my blessings to your family 👍❤️🙏
Wow, just binged the whole renovation up to now and it has been an amazing journey. Have loved every bit and can't wait to see the rest. Y'all are awesome.
WOW, Oops! You are too funny Ashley, lol. Another awesome demo by Y'all! What a wasted monster fridge, ugh! I like how you opened the laundry room up. Growing up we always had the W&D in the kitchen. I like the bigger kitchen window idea and can't wait to see how this all comes together. Great job you two, the best working team on FB.
I'm glad you told me it is clean behind the panels. You both have worked so hard, you deserve a nice clean place. I can't believe you two have done this work with no outside help. I like watching your vids.
I'm exhausted just watching. Great demo work. The house is going to be brand new when you're finished. I'm so happy for you guys. I've been reading some of the comments, and I must say I'm kinda disappointed in some folks. I would address some of the mean people but my granny always said, 'when you hate, it's like taking poison and expecting the other person to die'. Embrace the positive, ignore the negative, you are doing a great job! Have a great day dear ones, get some rest! ;)
Can we get a round of applause for the maker of the chandelier...lol that thing took a beating and stayed strong haha... Great reno guys...What you did today is what i do on a daily basis for the most part!! Pain in the arse!! Looking forward to the process!!
I recommend placing cement block piers every 8' along the marriage line (center of house). Do I now or later when it droops and the roof leaks. Also, think about the 20 plus years of nastiness on kitchen walls. Do you really want to prep food next to that. You need sheetrock on the center wall for a fire break. Great job.
William Shelby I totally agree - have you guys ever seen paneling burn? Drywall over it to achieve some fire protection. . Also great idea to put in the under supports.
I’ve been a silent watcher for over a year now. I really enjoy your channel. I’m much older than you guys and I love your and Ashley’s energy. I cannot wait to see this homes final renovation. 👍
Hey!! New subscriber here. I just randomly watched one of your videos last month and I became instantly drawn. I’ve been marathoning your videos and I’m fairly caught up on your journey to this home and all the renovations so far. You are a great couple, hard working and truly an inspiration. I can’t wait to see how this home looks when it’s finished and what you will do with your land. Best wishes to you.
I have caught up on all your Reno playlist for this home. Now I'm going back and watching older videos! I have never binge watched a channel like this! I love that you guys post frequently, and I love your editing!! You all are doing an amazing job! Can't wait to see the outcome of the home in its entirety!
Wow, I am in awe of both of you. What a day you had. Amazing what you can do with a hammer and muscle. So proud of you two. Working hard, and setting goals as you have will only be a huge investment in your home in the end.
Dough the work you have done in the kitchen is outstanding.....I am sure the new layout is going to be superb and work great for your family....have you thought of a country sink it would look wonderful....Had an idea for the frig you could use it in the back barn for when you make your out door space....Loving all the progress your doing...
Great job removing all the cabinets and walls! You’re so lucky that the water damage and carpenter ants didn’t turn out as bad as expected 😁👍🇨🇦 Can’t wait for the next video 👍👍
Wow! As usual, you power whacked thru the kitchen & laundry in lightening speed! Bet you get all your frustrations out that way and sleep like a baby at night! Glad you’ll have more natural light too! Great job!
Doug, you are a demolition BEAST! You made QUICK work of that demo! I knew it wouldn't take you two long to get that part of the remodel done. Sorry about the lamp shades, Ashley. Even so, that old light fixture and remaining shades can be of use to somebody. I hope you plan to give the fridge and fixtures to Good Will or Salvation Army or a Habitat For Humanity Re-Store or a thrift shop in your area for someone else less fortunate. Not surprised to see the evidence of mice in your wall. A little surprised to see the carpenter ants. I was thinking the whole time, "get them out of there!" Then you found another nest! Whew! But it didn't faze you! I applaud your fortitude. Good work on the demo and clean-up. Looking forward to the remodel. (Are you really going to paper the kitchen walls in the same manner as you did the bedrooms and will do the living room? Don't the kitchen and bath need a little bit heartier wall coverings? I know you don't want paint and its fumes, but isn't there something else to use as wall covering? Will your paper treatment stand up to the moisture (and grease) of a kitchen, bath and laundry area like high gloss paint will?
I always hold my breath as to what lurks behind the walls etc you're tearing down.. always something! Thankfully it wasn't as bad as you feared.. I like that you're making the window larger for light in the kitchen.. I got a kick out of the way you torn into the kitchen cabinets with the hammer and crossbar.. definitely a man with a mission 😃
I got to thinking after making an earlier comment.. are you thinking of using pocket doors for the utility room? Also if you’re only having one bathroom maybe making it a split bathroom so if someone is bathing or showering it could be closed off with a pocket door that can be locked on either side so that the toilet is still accessible.. just a thought..
Making sure I watch the ads for this channel!!! I can’t do much but I can give y’all some of my watch time :) Keep up the hard work and your house will be fantastic in no time!!!
The room is huge!!! .. I am amazed at the progress... Imagine if you had decided not to have renovated the walls as well (or anyone who would have bought that house besides you) would still be living with that filth... it is going to be just like a brand new house by the time you are finished.... one step at a time... Cheers....x
For Resale and Appraised Values...I would recommend running cinder block support columns down the center of the foundation of the home. As well, as completely finishing the home in drywall. You may also think about leaving a large window type opening in the wall between the living room and kitchen. I understand, it's a huge project that has to take place in a short amount of time due the weather conditions in Michigan, but it will be well worth the extra cost and effort in the end. Love the transformation and videos!
You guys are killing it. I’m always impressed by Doug’s knowledge of pests, which damage is caused by what and how. Your progress makes me rethink what I’m looking for in our next house, now I think I’d rather have something that needs renovated so we can open the walls up and know exactly what we’re living with. Keep it up guys!!
Treat the carpenter ants in the walls with termite spray. I had them totally destroy my shed wall. They thrive on moisture. They can do alot of damage. Your really doing a awesome job. Thanks for sharing a great video.
Wow, even with just the monster fridge gone the kitchen already looks so much better. I was impressed by Ashley's work with the power tools and seeing you progress, even by 3:02 minutes was a real tonic. By the end of the video your plans were crystal clear and the improvement obvious. I welcome your window plans and am glad the insect damage, while not welcome, was not as bad as it might have been. Achievement of your dreams is getting closer by the day, just avoid accidents, keep well and your 'new' home will be yours.
Good job... still more to do! Made me laugh... endures the ceiling lamp all the way through the kitchen cabinet demo... at the end, pulls it off and walks away lolll
I was amazed when I first started watching you two when you first moved into the other mobile home. I'm not longer amazed because it looks like there's nothing that you won't at least try to do on your own. From renovating that other home, now this home, landscaping, raising your chickens and your other animals. Wow, what a team you are!!!!!
The hydrader drawers in your old fridge are nice to keep for organizing or keeping potatoes and onions in . They fit good in my pantry on the floor and hold root vegetables.
Love watching you guys do a lot of renovations in your home. Doug you are very handy at what you do and your not afraid to tackle anything! Keep up the good work and looking forward to the end results of this kitchen.😊
Great job guys ... Hey Ashley i went back and watched some of your earliest video's...Have you taken out your metal detector around the property? Your Metal mondays were really fun to watch ...??
OMG I love how he took out the bottom cabinets.. top ones all unscrew and genly pull out.. bottoms all hammering and smashing.. looked like alot of fun. And the awesome sound of the stud coming out at 19:25
Hah! You could bust through a wall to break in but not that repaired door!! Wow, what a lot of work to do. My husband watched this episode with me, wanting to see more and asking if this was your newest. haha
WOW Doug!! You are a demolition machine!!! I absolutely love watching you guys make your house safer and cleaner and more efficient!! Can't wait for the next video!!
YT just had me do a quick survey of this video. First did I like it, and then check off all the reasons why. I said: enjoyable, informative, useful, and inspiring. Don't know why they picked me or you. But hopefully it moves you up recommended list
Oh my goodness, what a mess, but how great a job you both did at gutting it thus far. Mice are such creepy little critters, and carpenter ants make my skin crawl, and good news they didn't do much more damage, it just appears they were just living in the insulation. So glad they are out of your walls. I was mezmerized watching you both tear stuff down and cleaning it up, I'm just so excited to see what you have in mind for the layout, how the laundry room will turn out, it's getting exciting, can't wait to watch the next video.
Loving your progress! I always completely demo the kitchen and bathroom. You just never know what you are going to find. Insects and rodents just love kitchens and bathrooms. Ya'll are amazing!!!
Hello from the Netherlands! I somehow came across one of your video's earlier this week and I loved it so much, I immediately subscribed and watched almost all of your video's. You two are so impressive! Not only working hard, but so skillful. I am very much impressed by what you are doing. Look forward to see the rest of your journey. Wishing you all the best and good health!
Why would anyone want open shelving in a kitchen. All that dusting and extra washing. Kitchen have cooking grease flying thru the air. It has to land on something....guess where that will be. The stuff on the shelves.
Wow the ants were having a ball in there! You guys did a fantastic job on that kitchen demo, It was so exciting to see all the demo work, and it so nice to hear you guys explain how and why you choose to demo a area, I'm waiting for the next video!
DIYMOLITION crew at work. Awesome. It seems that the kitchen may have been pretty cute back when it was new. I'm thinking you will be needing another dumpster by now. Thank you for motivating me to do some chores, lol.
Wow! Makes me think how my cabinets are placed and if behind them I have bug or rodent infestation?? That’s a lot of hard work for a day I bet your getting excited though now that everything seems so be coming along well just the way you planned it. Thank goodness you decided to repair every room as you can take care of all the small set backs on the way. Your going to have a beautiful home when you finally finish. I just can’t believe how much you’ve all grown from the very first video I’ve watched from your channel. It’s really amazing 😉 I love all your videos and hope you never stop sharing with us. Can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve for a functional kitchen. Whatever you come up with I know it will look great and will make me want to rearrange my own kitchen. Lol That’s what happens when I watch your videos. You make all things look possible. You give inspiration to others I’m 65 and yet I still try making and changing things on my own. If you have the desire, can work hard along with the right tools you can accomplish anything.
Wow, I recently found your channel so been watching your videos like a boxset to catch up with your life journey. Really proud of you both and the achievement you aim for is inspirational. Well done, you have an awesome family 👪. Looking forward to seeing the next stage of your journey.
Wow! You guys are the king and queen of demolition lololol, so much to do! But certainly, this hard work will have your home looking Mickey mouse as the saying goes!! Well Done!!! The new design will be interesting and the larger window is a great move too! 👍😃👨👩👦👦💝
such an emotional roller coaster watching this with all the droppings and then the ants and the rot...and you two just took in stride. that's why i love this channel. you got your work cut out but such great progress is made and you'll reach your goals before the winter chill hits. can't wait to see what you do with all of it. God Bless :)
The drawers in your old fridge would make great toy bins for your son's room. I used stove racks for my greenhouse to carry trays of seedlings . Also great for your daughters room to set ribbons through on a closet wall. Just thinking of recycling. The bins would be good for your animal brushes in the barn too. Getting things demolished in no time!
Oh my goodness! I freaked out and started itching the second I saw those ants! Hate them! Had an infestation in a house I rented once, the main nest was under the floor in the middle of the house, floor had to be ripped up to get at it cos it was a brick built house with no exterior access, which is typical here in Scotland! At least the water damage is only round the one window, but you've pretty much uncovered all the horrors now and you know exactly what you're dealing with. Great demolition Doug!

Maybe save the sink to use outdoors (attached to the cold water spigot) for gardening, if you plan to harvest animals, etc.

Superman and wonder woman demo a kitchen.
Doug and Ashley Demo service team. That's a lot of work. But till u get done it will be GORGOUS!!! Good luck and be careful!!❤❤
Cheers....x
Yep, little by little we're getting it done!
I agree with this comment 100%
You guys are killing it. I’m always impressed by Doug’s knowledge of pests, which damage is caused by what and how. Your progress makes me rethink what I’m looking for in our next house, now I think I’d rather have something that needs renovated so we can open the walls up and know exactly what we’re living with. Keep it up guys!!
You totally out performed any HGTV demolition day!
You made it look so satisfying!😂
I watched at 1.5 speed it was epic
Yes, there’s a big difference in rehabbing a place you’re going to live in vs. rehabbing one for a TV show!
You two are a great inspiration to just roll up your sleeves and learn as you go. Just love your new property.
I was so mesmerized that I had to watch it again! Fan from Japan
You certainly know how to deconstruct a kitchen and you love yourself a hammer Doug!
Good job... still more to do!
Good reuse.
We used the metal detector one day just to see what kind of signals we'd get, and there was pretty much nothing! We found an old vintage pull tab.
@@diyfferent well that's to bad....Maybe once all renos are done you can find some old areas and do some detecting ..They were fun to watch
Totally love demolition! Amazing what you find in the walls. It feels so good to have all that exposed and gotten taken care of! Good job you two!
OMG I love how he took out the bottom cabinets.. top ones all unscrew and genly pull out.. bottoms all hammering and smashing.. looked like alot of fun. And the awesome sound of the stud coming out at 19:25
That's what I call a ONE MAN Demolition Crew and a HAPPY One at that !!!! Go to it Doug !!! Love watching how you too work together!!!
Hah! You could bust through a wall to break in but not that repaired door!! Wow, what a lot of work to do. My husband watched this episode with me, wanting to see more and asking if this was your newest. haha
Awesome job Doug and Ashley! You made quick work of that! I can’t wait to see the remodeling begin! Take care!👋
Who needs Chip and Joanna Gains when you got Doug and Ashley.
WOW Doug!! You are a demolition machine!!! I absolutely love watching you guys make your house safer and cleaner and more efficient!! Can't wait for the next video!!
I don't know why you want to gut that lovely kitchen. 😛 😎
And that wallpaper...what's not to like? 😂
Well better to find them now and get it taken care of before winter. Everything is looking great !!
YT just had me do a quick survey of this video. First did I like it, and then check off all the reasons why. I said: enjoyable, informative, useful, and inspiring.
Don't know why they picked me or you. But hopefully it moves you up recommended list
O cool! Thanks!
It’s so much fun watching you demo and seeing the process of rebuilding. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much :)
Your work ethic is so inspiring! Not only are you doing all this work, but you are also making all these videos. I'm so impressed.
Yes, they’re like Eveready bunnies.
Open shelving is really popular right now. So that would save also on buying new cupboards. Just an idea. Can't wait to see your ideas though.
Linda Cruikshank: pot lights!
You could save those appliances to make an outdoor canning kitchen in your barn.
Not the frig. It runs constantly. Not good!
DIYMOLITION crew at work. Awesome. It seems that the kitchen may have been pretty cute back when it was new. I'm thinking you will be needing another dumpster by now. Thank you for motivating me to do some chores, lol.
Yout videos are therapy. Look forward to your posts. I really enjoy you guys.
You're both doing a fabulous job renovating your home! The end result will be worth the hard work and time you put into it. Awesome job!
I bet it smells a heck of a lot better with all the contaminated insulation gone. Great work, can’t wait to see the next video.
Watching you work is so therapeutic! I look forward to your videos.
Wow! Makes me think how my cabinets are placed and if behind them I have bug or rodent infestation??
That’s a lot of hard work for a day
I bet your getting excited though now that everything seems so be coming along well just the way you planned it.
Lol
That’s what happens when I watch your videos.
Glad you found us and are enjoying our videos. Thanks!!
Me : Finds a major bug and mice infestation behind the walls...
Insurance assessor : So the fire started in the kitchen?
zbudda 😂🤣🤣😂
Y'all are amazing at planning everything out! This is how it should be! So proud for you!
I would pay you to renovate my house any time !! Good job.
