Do Belle a big favor and insulate her wall that shares the bathroom. Also as an only girl with 3 brothers and 1 bathroom the toilet in a "cubby" was a big deal. Privacy is everything to a girl. I hope you put back the 2 sinks and a Huge mirror. We raised 2 girls and a big mirror gave everyone some space. Now we have the 2 girls,3 granddaughters and a great grand daughter. The long 2 sink vanity with the wall to wall mirror is wonderful and all the girls gather in the bathroom. So glad we did it. I am really enjoying watching you and Ashley renovate your house. You have enough energy for an army!
Farmer's Wife's hint over the years, they have place steel wool in all the pipe holes to keep out rodents. Do it before you close up the walls and floors.

Awsome job guys. I understand the frustration with renovation, we did our kitchen last year. Our house is a little over 200 years old. We removed 4 layers of flooring to get to the subfloor. What a mess. We even dealt with coal dust between the layers of flooring. Glad it's done and behind us. I always look for your videos and watch them as soon as I see a new one, and I am slowly catching up with your old videos. You guys do an amazing job on everything you do. Take care.

My mobile home is a 1981, and my tubs are fiberglass. I recently had the main bathroom remodeled because of a water leak (thank God for insurance!) and my new tub and shower enclosure are also fiberglass. I was surprised that your tub wasn’t; I kinda figured that, for the most part, they all were anymore! It’s fun to watch you tear that stuff out. It must kinda gratifying, in a way! Lol! You amaze me with all you know how to do.

Oh my gosh, we had a similiar light setup in our kitchen when we bought it. The joke was "Beam me Up Scotty!" We took it out and put can lights in. You are doing alot of work but it will be all worth it when you are done. Good Job!

First of all, I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO thankful that YOU ARE NOT going to do an open concept for the bathroom area, LOL!!! I'm sorry, but there are just some places in the house that don't need that. Second, you work really fast!! Your bathroom really needed to be remodeled, and I cannot wait to see how it's going to look when you get through with it. Your home is going to look so beautiful by the time you get through with it. I hope you have plenty of firewood on hand, or at least some floor heaters, because from what I'm seeing by all the weather reports, you guys are going to be having an early winter. We've got a cool front coming in this weekend and the lows are in the 40's and the highs in the 60-70's. I love this time of year!!! Wow, you are strong! Great job accomplished!! About 15 years ago I took up tile with a heated shovel, ( that's what I call it lol ) I was amazed such thing existed! lol I just wanted the 1950's bedroom tile off the floor and carpet put in. A friend of mine had the tool and borrowed it to me. That worked nicely. I really don't know anything but I thought I'd mention this. My friend also said using a regular iron on the floor to heat the glue up some so removal would be easier. Like I said, I know absolutely nothing like you do, just thought maybe it would be an easier job for you. You do back breaking work!! Even picking up the materials and putting them in a huge disposal bin would be too much for me! When your Home is finished, you & Ashley will look around and be so content that your new beautiful Home is done properly and safely for your family!! You should really have your own tv show! When I used to do this kind of thing for a living, ripping out the old was always my favourite part of the job.That could have been nasty when you stepped on that hole, I'm glad your ok.
I have seen that done. It is a perfect and no-cost critter trough. One homesteader hosed his running creek into the bathtub trough and then hosed the over-spill back into the creek. The critters always had fresh clean running water and his creek was not adversely affected. The trough did not freeze in winter and stayed cold in the summer. It was genius.

I know wearing safety glasses is no joy, but has a retired RN one wooden splinter no matter how small can lead to the loss of your sight in that eye forever. Great Job....again. Please cover that hole; you're making me nervous. When I was removing the vinyl from the plywood subfloor in my kitchen, I tried all kinds of scrapers, heat guns, etc. What finally worked was a wallpaper steamer! It was messy but the steam loosened the glue and did the job. Very reasonable cost and saved my hands, back and knees. Just a thought.
Great work, love when you say you need to take your time or you can get hurt after hurting yourself and you was like a tank ripping it apart. Glad you didn't hurt yourself after hitting the hole, my heart was in my mouth everytime you got near it..x
Watch the hole in the floor. Be careful, don't get hurt in the middle of this project. Only one bathroom so it does need to be done quickly, but if you get hurt Ashley and the kids will have to do the job for you. Just kidding around. What a great job you are doing. My husband and I bought our first mobile home in 1977, about a year and a half after we married. It had the same flooring. We were "blessed" to have avocado green sinks, toilets, bathtub, refrigerator, stove and carpet. Lol! Please be careful with your back. One small accident damaged mine and changed my life. Looking forward to seeing the completed project, then on to the outdoors!

Great job! Even through the video you can feel that you are rushing, but slow down enough to be safe. You can recycle some of the fixtures; tub and sinks can hold water for the animals or be used as planters in the garden; maybe use the light fixtures in the barn or storage room. And the statement, "This is not real stone" is too darn cute! Now you know when you deal with rodent damage/feces you need to wear a respirator to avoid lung damage! It would be nice if you had like minded folks close enough that they could offer assistance when you need some work to move quickly. Yall are so industrious and focused, its great to watch your home come together. Such a wonderful family!

Doug and Ashley.. you know watching you this morning it dawned on me why it's so satisfying to me being the matriarch in our family and wanting so much to be closer actually every day with my family than really is possible or practical... I would love to be able see my son doing these things and being right there beside him but as you probably know with family dynamics that is just not possible but to be there with you and Ashley,young people I love and to watch you do these things and you share with me it warms my heart so and actually takes care of a spot in me that needs that and I want to thank you so much

My sister is over from the other north of England and she knows about you guys as I tell her about you and all your great ideas... when you fell down that hole I just thought. You are just like us when we get to DIY ing.. we always fall, slip or cut ourselves no matter how careful we are...

Great Job....again. Please cover that hole; you're making me nervous. When I was removing the vinyl from the plywood subfloor in my kitchen, I tried all kinds of scrapers, heat guns, etc. What finally worked was a wallpaper steamer! It was messy but the steam loosened the glue and did the job. Very reasonable cost and saved my hands, back and knees. Just a thought.

Watch the hole in the floor. Be careful, don't get hurt in the middle of this project. Only one bathroom so it does need to be done quickly, but if you get hurt Ashley and the kids will have to do the job for you. Just kidding around. What a great job you are doing. Had an heart attack watching you walk over the hole many times..i took a nasty fall in my place from same type of hole.i got smart and put a board over it and tempory screwed it down..safty first! Love watching your vids!! Great progress today!!
I can not believe how you do certain jobs all by yourself! Alot of guys would have someone helping them, but you forge ahead on your own and get it done!!! Love that Ashley is home schooling Belle and tending to Maverick all at the same time! Everyone has their "job" and it all balances out in the end!! Kudos to all of you!!

I had that exact bathroom in a mobile home on our summer property. Wonderful to see it go.
On Green Acres Homestead they just used an iron and parchment paper to lossen the glue on tile to get it up..
I'm glad you're doing the bathroom. There was a lot of cold air getting in through the rodent damage. It must have cost the former owner a lot to heat that place. The insulation you are putting in will keep your family warm and toasty this winter. Nice work.
I suppose you'll put some sound-proofing insulation between bathroom and Belle's room so she won't have to grow up listening to the family use the bathroom?

My husband and I bought our first mobile home in 1977, about a year and a half after we married. It had the same flooring. We were "blessed" to have avocado green sinks, toilets, bathtub, refrigerator, stove and carpet. Lol! Please be careful with your back. One small accident damaged mine and changed my life. Looking forward to seeing the completed project, then on to the outdoors!

Great job! Even through the video you can feel that you are rushing, but slow down enough to be safe. You can recycle some of the fixtures; tub and sinks can hold water for the animals or be used as planters in the garden; maybe use the light fixtures in the barn or storage room. And the statement, "This is not real stone" is too darn cute! Now you know when you deal with rodent damage/feces you need to wear a respirator to avoid lung damage! It would be nice if you had like minded folks close enough that they could offer assistance when you need some work to move quickly. Yall are so industrious and focused, its great to watch your home come together. Such a wonderful family!

Gives a little lecture about not trying to work too fast then proceeds to go flipping uber ballistic on the entire bathroom. Gotta allotta pent up rage released on this segment. The man is so pretty and so angry. I love him so much. And he is a feminist. Ashley has such a beautiful aura and a wonderful aspect of calm brilliance and grace.
