Doug and Ashley, I bet it is a relief, too. Great work as always. You did this work so fast, like I knew you would. I will be here next time. Take care and God Bless.
The kitchen framing looks SO dang good! It is a wonder to me after seeing the damage inside the walls that you did not have walls collapsing in on you last winter. I know it must have been super cold last winter. I am sorry for that. But, now I envision a cozy fall and the first snow of winter with you all running around bare foot in your warm home. It makes me very happy and hopeful. Hurry along to wrapping the home up. Blessings. 🍁
Good to see Maverick getting the idea of safety equipment before, well before he gets his hands anywhere near the equipment. The work went well, no wonder you all looked so happy with progress, the new window is exactly the right idea, more light and a better view. Happy parents, happy children, happy house, good progress, nothing more to say, except it was relaxing and a pleasure to watch the two of you doing well.
It is evident that all your previous experience with home renovating has paid off. You have a wonderful grasp of framing; AND, you are not cutting corners. KUDOS !!!
Where I would be frazzled and freaking out, you take it all in stride. Step by logical step you make repairs, all so calm. I am learning to think more and plan. Thanks, your "can do" attitude is rubbing off!
I have to say I agree with someone who said earlier that you should consider a P.O. Box maybe in a nearby town so as to provide some privacy to you and your family. This would allow your subscribers to gift you items and or monetary support for your channel. As I have said in the past I have coins and coin related items that are yours for the asking. You would have them already if I knew where to send them. By the way, the easy meatball recipe was a big hit, Thanks Ashley. Later
Loving your episodes and so admire you both. You work well together. I love your adventures in building and repair and I miss that as my husband and I used to do a lot of things like that. We did our 2000 sq ft home as you are doing after 30 years, not that it was any rot as such but it just had to be updated so we figured we wanted to repair it all the way it will last us the rest of our time. LOL It is a JOB to be sure. We replaced 16 windows from the aluminum to the new white clad windows we purchased at HD. So quiet and keep the home so so warm and just so much more comfortable. No air leaks and they are so easy to maintain. we went to all new siding and wrap and insulation where it needed. Just as you are doing so I am enjoying watching you redo you home and bring it up to date and safe. I can't give you enough kudos!!! You will be in and warm by the time winter gets here and what a fabulous feeling that will be. Blessings
I can't believe you are a self taught carpenter. Your work is so thorough. To me it's better than watching a movie. Love how you explain everything as you go into the demo and then the rebuild. Have you ever built a house from the ground up? Or have you always done the remodeling and replacing. What ever you do its like watching a piece of art come to life. Awesome job. Can't wait for the next one.
Maverick is just adorable. Thank You for the cameo of him!!! You guys work so hard. What do you do for fun? The house is gonna be so nice now. I can't wait to see the kitchen and Mav's room. Have a great day guys. Love and hugs from OHIO.
Mavrick is so cute and such a happy little guy. It will be so nice to have all that done for winter. Lots to keep you busy with the indoor work for winter.
Again, another awesome video! Watching you is kinda like reading a mystery book that you just can’t put down cause you want to know what is happening next. I always hate to see your videos close for the day, cause I want to see the next project!
I feel the same way onemorechatykathy. I want them to go and go, probably until they keel over from exhaustion, lol. Not really but I hate to see each video end.
Nice big kitchen window. I did something that I don't usually allow myself. No TH-cam till the bed is made and some cleanup done. But I just couldn't help myself when I noticed your notification. Aarrgghhh ... Pfffttt... I don't care. Just for you guys I make an exeption. Haha 😄 Great job as always. 💗
Would have loved to have seen a double door going in there, then a nice deck outside for maybe a table and chairs as well as the steps 😊 great job as always 👍
You should consider gutters also to move that water away from the house. At the same time you can combine the gutters with a water catchment system for your gardens and livestock. Take a problem and create multiple advantageous solutions.
I'm not sure what is more entertaining: watching you two demo and build or watching Maverick supervise....maybe he needs a baby hardhat that says "supervisor" on it? :D
You two are my favorites! I love your earthy honesty and hard-workin' ethics. Ashley is so sweet and industrious and Doug, you are so knowledgeable. Thanks for doing this channel so we can enjoy your progress and root for you! I miss you guys when you aren't able to put up a video, but I understand.....
Hey Doug, I guess a 32 inch is ok but I would put 36 inch door in. On an outside door coming in to a kitchen, you really appreciate a little room bringing in appliances and such. I know it's your house, but it would help you more in the long run. Not criticizing, just trying to help. I have made my mistakes and paid for them. Sometimes a little better planning helps a lot in the future. Best wishes for you and God bless.
Totally agree with you on this Rick. I am sure we have all had our own errors and can easily spot them. I did see this too. This is really the only major design thing so far I would have done differently. Now it is going to be difficult moving washer/dryer at a later time if they need to be replaced. More space is easier and makes sense given the price difference on a door. Appliances are heavy and bulky, and more space is always smarter. Larger doors are so much wiser. Glad to see someone else saw the same thing I did.
You've heard of the 'tall, dark, silent type'? Well, I couldn't help but think of little Maverick as the 'short, blond, silent type!' He is so cute, with those ear muffs and grinning at you while eating an apple! Good work on the house, as always.
My Dad wasn’t a carpenter by trade but did build houses we lived in. He was a great handyman. Mechanic by trade. Love watching as it reminds me of his many talents like yourself. I sure miss him.
You two remind me of Amish, but that's a good thing. I love the Amish and how they live. You are doing a fantastic job, can't wait to see the outcome. If you were to build someone a home, you best be assured it would be built right.
You guys are moving right along. Doug did you work in house construction before or are you self taught? You do a good job. Ashley is a great help. Maverick is so precious and handsome. I love his smile! You have 2 beautiful and I think well behaved children. Take care and God bless. 💕💕💕💕💕
Jumpins. I know you were probably sure the wires were dead before you snipped them, but I always check with a multimeter or test light first. When I was working on a wall on my house a couple of months ago, there was a wire that came out of the wall and went to a shed that had been removed. There wasn't anything on that wire for decades. I wasn't sure of the status of the wire so I treated it like it was live. Good thing I did... it had been hanging outside in all weather and conditions, with current going to it! 🤨
You guys always do such amazing work. When the video comes to an end, I’m like “WAIT ! I want more ... “ keep up good work. I’ll be baaack to watch the progress.
I think you are doing a great job and by taking a marginal structure and making it beautiful, it is a great investment. Your Family is so cute and having a great help mate is wonderful.
Another great video! I’m beginning to feel y’all are part of my family. You both have such a beautiful work ethic and love for each other. It’s refreshing to see this in young people. A simple life is the best. Good honest work and family. ❤️
Always love your vids. The shots of Maverick were endearing. He has such a sweet countenance. You are such a hardworking family. Thank you for adding us to your lives. Blessings 🌸
I know this is too late for some parts that you've already finished, but there is a liquid base for a spray on borax solution that is all natural and can be sprayed onto the insides of framing, before insulation is installed, that soaks into the wood and creates a barrier to insect damage. Its a little tricky to mix up, but there is a good video from Matt Risinger who demonstrates this.
Doug & Ashley, you 2 are such a wonderful role model for your children. Loved seeing Maverick eating an apple watching his dad. The children are so lucky to have caring & loving parents. GOD Bless your family!
Doug your quite the young but thin Carpenter with an amazing wife. Your scrappy but your a real He-Man at what you set your mind up to do. Saw little Maverick munching on his apple and acting like go away daddy with that camera. Such a little Angle. I watch your frequent videos you post like I was watching a TV Soap opera. I'm calling your video's as, As the House Turns.... Good work on the re-framing of the walls/window's and door frame. Not to mention your restored floor that was all rotten. Looking to seeing your work continue as usual. Be Safe. Your fan in Minneapolis, MN 9/27/19
Your home looks to be constructed much better than others I have seen as far as foundation and framing! It seems less like a manufactured (mobile) home and more like the grandfather of modern day modular homes. Very interesting info on the carpenter ants! I did not know that. 👍
It isn’t like new, it is new. Your place will be unrecognizable to the former owners. They seems to have just patched over the issues and making them worse instead of fixing them like you guys are. 👍🏼
Great video Doug & Ashley....rot is gone, yay !!!.....Your children are so quiet and well behaved, they seem to be able to amuse themselves, a refreshing change these days....
Another great job done! You are paying attention to the details and trying to do it right. Thats the way it should be done. When you are finally able to sit back and enjoy it you will feel a lot better about the job you did. It is going to make the house warmer and so much cozier this winter. So important in the cold Michigan winters. I am so glad to see your little guy wearing his shoes. We wouldn't want to see him step on anything and get hurt. You are doing a great job! You make a great team. My best as always to you and your family! 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊
I think what I like about watching you is that you just get in there and do it. We have so many projects that need to be done but I'm intimidated to try, you just cut whatever section out that is bad and on you go. That was a precious moment captured of Maverick eating his apple, his smile was so sweet. God bless.
It is so good to see well behaved children, i work retail grocery and the unruly kids are amazing. You can be proud of them. Doug are you a master carpenter ? We look forward to every video, thank you from THE DESERT SOUTHWEST.
What a blessing that your children watching you being self sufficient. Still praying for your safety and progress and again I would love to help. Take care
Hi to you all, I am from the UK and enjoy following your progress. The work you have been doing is great can't fault you, it is well done. Keep it going...... :)
Oooh! this was so much fun to see the progress, I am happy to see all the rotten wood gone and brand new solid wood in it's place, things are looking so good, Maverick is just so adorable, love seeing him too. Love the bigger window, I think you're really going to enjoy that. I can't wait to see your next video, this is so much fun. Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to the next video. Bye for now.
I really need you two to come to Colorado and remodel my double wide. Hubby unable not to do that kind of work. Ours is a 1984, we did some remodel in our younger years, but needs more! I told. Him you and Ashley remind me of us in our younger years working together, he said you don't argue enough. 😂😂😂 love your videos.
That was fun. We love getting rid of the rot! :) Watch us work on this home from the start!: th-cam.com/play/PLB6I6KoGYpp62Z2DQhIXgqBbDsBhDRijJ.html
A great start to my day 👍 feeling inspired to get moving. 💪👵
Doug and Ashley, I bet it is a relief, too. Great work as always. You did this work so fast, like I knew you would. I will be here next time. Take care and God Bless.
Doug, what do you do for a living? You are quite an amazing carpenter/builder!
yup and looks good
Doug, you are so good with your handy work. Love how you explain everything. Bless you guys.
I’m sure nobody mentions this enough but we all appreciate the frequent uploads :)
Thanks :)
Maverick's smile was the best part of the video. Nice property; great view for the larger window.
The kitchen framing looks SO dang good! It is a wonder to me after seeing the damage inside the walls that you did not have walls collapsing in on you last winter. You guys are going to have a completely brand new spotless clean house by the time you're done
Gotta love Maverick he's such a cheery little dude.
Mavericks shy little giggle is so cute
Maverick has the most beautiful smile. He always puts a smile on my face when I see him looking so happy.

My husband and I re-wall papered the bathroom and almost got a divorce. You two are just so chill. I love it.
Katherine Pennington my husband and I couldn’t even move a chair across the room together. Lol
I sooo know what you mean!!!! I only ask for help if it is an emergency. Otherwise, I won't work with him.

We have never built a house from scratch, just repaired old homes. Thank you!
If I was buying a home and they said Doug renovated it # sold.😊

We put in a 36" for the front door so if large items need to be brought in we can use that door :)
Awe Maverick just melted my heart with that shy little smile.
You've heard of the 'tall, dark, silent type'? Well, I couldn't help but think of little Maverick as the 'short, blond, silent type!' He is so cute, with those ear muffs and grinning at you while eating an apple! Good work on the house, as always.
Omg Mavericks smile was so dang cute
Your little guy is adorable!
That house needed your family more than ever. Great work, thank you for sharing your journey. I look forward to every video. God Bless.

Maverick has a smile that could light up the world! What a handsome boy!
Your children are precious. Maverick wearing the ear protection with dad was so cute. What a sweet little smile. Great job.
I bet you sleep great at night. Hardest worker ever. Impressed with how you get it done.
You guys always do such amazing work. When the video comes to an end, I’m like “WAIT ! I want more ... “

Always love your vids. The shots of Maverick were endearing. He has such a sweet countenance.

The window in the kitchen is perfect. It’s going to be beautiful.
Doug & Ashley, you 2 are such a wonderful role model for your children. Loved seeing Maverick eating an apple watching his dad. The children are so lucky to have caring & loving parents. GOD Bless your family!
He is adorable he is going to be a big helper to daddy some day
That was great seeing the rotten wood replaced.. and Maverick is just adorable!☺️
Love seeing the little guy watching Dad. Taking in all that information in for future projects when he can help Dad.
It was so funny when you said that you almost forgot that you needed a door. Glad you remembered when you did or that would have been a mess.
OMG! Maverick is so cute!
Mavericks smile made my day! You are so blessed :)
His cute little smile🥰🥰. Looking good. One step closer!!
Doug your quite the young but thin Carpenter with an amazing wife. Your scrappy but your a real He-Man at what you set your mind up to do. Maverick is adorable! Of course his sister is beautiful also. Beautiful family.
Your home looks to be constructed much better than others I have seen as far as foundation and framing! It seems less like a manufactured (mobile) home and more like the grandfather of modern day modular homes. Very interesting info on the carpenter ants! I did not know that. 👍
Yea! We weren't sure at first what it was and thought maybe it was just an early modular. But it just seems to be a very well-built double wide. :)
That little Maverick is as cute as can be. Made my day to see him smiling like that. : )
Geez you guys work fast, I’m sure you don’t think so but you sure are moving along pretty quickly. Great job
It isn’t like new, it is new. Your place will be unrecognizable to the former owners. They seems to have just patched over the issues and making them worse instead of fixing them like you guys are. 👍🏼
An example of great family values! Great work!
Oh and to see that darling boy, in his shoes, watching dad...awwwwwww!!!
Great job it is looking great!
Great video Doug & Ashley....rot is gone, yay !!!.....Your children are so quiet and well behaved, they seem to be able to amuse themselves, a refreshing change these days....
Great job guys! A bigger window at the sink will be nice! ✌️
Your kiddos are so well behaved especially during huge renovations. I feel like I can barely paint a room 😂
I hope your son is learning as much as we are from watching you guys work! I’m sure he is. ❤️
BTW fun to see you at the live feed from Bobblehead with Jeff and Drew. Everyone was so happy to see you there. 💕❤️💕
:)
I love how you think ahead 10 steps...something as simple as leaving room for the door to clear the mat! So smart! Glad the ants moved on!!!
Im addicted!! Your Son just added a great quick and so cute change. Love your rehab!
Awww.... Maverick eating the apple shot..... he's soooo cute! Both of your children are lovely!
I’m so impressed with what you guys are doing! Your home is going to be beautiful!
✌🏻🇺🇸
Loving the long videos .... my favourite channel
I think what I like about watching you is that you just get in there and do it. We have so many projects that need to be done but I'm intimidated to try, you just cut whatever section out that is bad and on you go.
That was a precious moment captured of Maverick eating his apple, his smile was so sweet.
God bless.
Doug and Ashley, it's a sin for Maverick to be that adorable !! 😂😂 Still love watching your video's !! ❤
It is so good to see well behaved children, i work retail grocery and the unruly kids are amazing. You can be proud of them. Doug are you a master carpenter ? We look forward to every video, thank you from THE DESERT SOUTHWEST.
