Super excited for this game, but I'm going to wait until modders add ultra wide support for it like they did Sekiro. FromSoft needs to step up their PC game, the stuttering Matty described on a 3080 is bonkers. We need smooth PC ports at launch with the option for uncapped frames and ultra wide so the world can look as fantastic as it can. Do any of the devs have a nice gaming rig they want to play these games on? Lmao
@@sneezytg6486 that is good to hear. Like I said I'm fucking stoked to play this lmao I just find it so weird that ultra wide/uncapped frames isn't standard on PC ports in 2022
uncapped will be hard considering fromsoft tie their framerates to the games physics. i remember uncapping ds1 and my dodge distance and eye frames were freakin hilariously bad. ull get UW mods in the 1st week guaranteed though, but uncapped? dont count on it for a good long while. still hasnt been done with the other older fromsoft games.
Regarding difficulty some people have to get that this type of game is for a certain type of audience. The Souls game when it first came out was for a niche audience. If you look at allot of games from From Software like Otogi they generally make difficult games.
My first and only FromSoftware is Sekiro. I was utterly disappointed when I had to fight enemies I’ve already defeated to face the ones I haven’t. Reminded me of cheap deaths from the NES days. I hope people enjoy this but…definitely not for me.

.....uhg. those PC problems. I'm going to reserve my judgement until the day one patch but if it is still that bad after I am refunding the game. I am getting tired of devs screwing over either console or pc players. Even Fromsoft is not getting a pass from me on this.
In 2011, when I got Skyrim AND Dark souls.....I can easily tell you : Bethesda can`t hold a candle to From software! I put 900 hours in Oblivion and skyrim is nothin new..... So many mtx in other games like Valhalla, and from software gives you so many weapons & armors INCLUDED in game.
This game makes me nervous for Starfield. I’ve been looking for an awesome RPG for a while now, and I’m concerned with what Bethesda has in the oven. I hope those people at Microsoft got a good glimpse of what is to come from Bethesda, and that the game will blow me away like I haven’t experienced in a long time
Never enjoyed a Dark Souls game. I am hoping to take the dip but I don't want DS4. It looks like DS too thats my concern. Damn same PC Specs as mine a 3080 and it's rough that sucks. Maybe From Software needs to stop making Dark Souls games and optimize their games on PC.
I think they are getting better at porting game to pc, but looks like its a small step back this time. Say what you will about Activision (and trust me there is a list long enough to wrap around the Earth several time) but Sekiro have the best PC port out of any of Fromsoft game, I have pretty much a perfect technical experiences with that game. It a shame to see that in terms pc port Elden Ring is only slightly better then Dark Soul 2. But then again Bandai isn't know for being good at porting thing to pc. Just look at Ace Combat 7, a flight game release in 2019 but don't support 21:9 aspect ratio.
I love the idea they tell you the lore not you have to go read this or that. It is so annoying to stop and read in a video game. If I wanted to do a bunch of reading I will grab a real book and read it. A note here and there is fine but really I am not interested in a bunch of reading.
Great video! You for sure made me want to play this game when you said it got your hooks into you as much as Skyrim did at first! Can’t wait! Keep up the good work!
i dont actually think this game is that good, i put 48 hr into it and i dont recommend it tbh, in fact skyrim is still better imo. It wants to be a fighting game but it doesn't go far enough to make the combat more fluid dynamic etc, all animations are kinda frame locking and slow, not to mention delayed response from input to action, also they tried the rpg part but didn't go far enough into the rpg stuff, for example you can chose each individual stat but each point counts as a level so the newbie stats now also cost the same as the high stats, like why :/. No grab counters, no grabs, not fluid motion with combos or dash plus hit move plus hit, they need to play dead or alive and see whats up and then make an open world challenging game with that combat more or less, or soul caliber combat. The camera is still janky and performance is weird on pc. "map bar" ....lol you must mean compass...

As a PC only player, this is incredibly disappointing. I will be holding off until I hear performance improves. Thanks for the honest take Matty.
Random act of appreciation... You're a legit reviewer. Solid words, Fine job🤜🤛
This is my first from software game. I almost turned it off and never turned it on again the first day 😂 now I’m over 24 hours played and I’m loving the game!
How did you go about overcoming the difficulty? I'm guessing that was the hard part about picking it back up
@@DweezlePeePants you get your horse after finding three sites of grace which is pretty easy. Once I unlocked the horse I just went around the opening area fighting soldiers and other enemies and once I had enough to level up, I’d do it. I have a melee build so I started investing in health and strength to get me going. Things get easier after leveling up a bit and taking time to learn certain tough enemy’s patterns.
Great review. Touched on a lot of aspects that I havent heard in other reviews. Really looking forward to playing this game!
Can’t wait for this, still can’t make my mind up about getting it for my ps5 or series x, it’s hard to choose lmao.

So far this is the best review regarding Elden Ring. Keep up the good work Mat. Your narrative skills are evolving constantly on your videos.
I've never played a souls like game before, hearing about the difficulty has always put me off, as I know I'll get frustrated and give up, but I'm so tempted to at least give it a try

I think the slow burn Rubik cube story is part of the appeal of these games. A bit of an acquired taste.
Nice to hear someone else has played Trails in the Sky - still my favourite JRPG even after playing through many Final Fantasy and Tales titles.
Oh and the Elden Ring review was nice too.
Interesting to hear about the PC issues. I've seen streamers playing on 1.01 and that's apparently going to be the day 1 patch so, hm. Wonder if it *will* fix the issue like they claim. (PC Gamer stated bandai have said that the day 1 patch will fix intermittent stuttering/memory leaking)
Skillup’s review mentioned that he said some issues on pc, he changed his settings slightly and it was fine. Suggest giving that a watch
There are some reviewers who have mentioned that a 1.02 patch just went live yesterday and it apparently improved performance. I'm gonna assume that's the day 1 patch.

Thank you so much for being honest about the difficulty! Everyone else is saying it's not as hard as the others, but now I know for sure that this game is not for me. No matter how much I love RPGs and beautiful open world and great stories, I just can't do the beating my head against the wall on a boss thing.

1. Set Shader Cache Size- 10GB
2. Triple Buffering set to On.
3. Vertical Sync is set to Fast.
all the franchise needs now (according to my wishes) is the ability to recruit npcs and build a small oasis of civilization that extracts resources, crafts equipment and can be brought along
These games are famous for the almost action only approach focus, it's not a Role playing game in the traditional sense.
You can summon NPCs or players turning bosses into raids, and in Elden Ring's case, summon spirits that you can find in the world or that come from enemies you killed.
But they're just options for reducing the difficulty.
That defeats the whole mood and philosophy of their games. All their games are supposed to be desolate, hopeless, in a way post apocalyptic

Hmm I haven’t played a FromSoftware game yet, but this looks the most intriguing to me. That being said, since I typically derive my investment in a game from engaging characters and overarching plot, would this not be a title to get into?

Super excited for this game, but I'm going to wait until modders add ultra wide support for it like they did Sekiro. FromSoft needs to step up their PC game, the stuttering Matty described on a 3080 is bonkers. We need smooth PC ports at launch with the option for uncapped frames and ultra wide so the world can look as fantastic as it can. Do any of the devs have a nice gaming rig they want to play these games on? Lmao
There is a day one patch that is directly focusing on the stuttering so there is that

The excitement in your voice says a lot about the game! Cant freaking wait!
Regarding difficulty some people have to get that this type of game is for a certain type of audience. The Souls game when it first came out was for a niche audience. If you look at allot of games from From Software like Otogi they generally make difficult games.

.....uhg. those PC problems. I'm going to reserve my judgement until the day one patch but if it is still that bad after I am refunding the game. I am getting tired of devs screwing over either console or pc players. Even Fromsoft is not getting a pass from me on this.
Respawning near bosses has been really nice. Time between boss attempts is frustrating.
In 2011, when I got Skyrim AND Dark souls.....I can easily tell you : Bethesda can`t hold a candle to From software!

Mr Matty Thanks to this Video I'm TOTALLY Picking Up This Game on Release!! 🤓
That title screen music is epic!
I love the idea they tell you the lore not you have to go read this or that. It is so annoying to stop and read in a video game. If I wanted to do a bunch of reading I will grab a real book and read it. A note here and there is fine but really I am not interested in a bunch of reading.
Looks like we have something really special here can't wait to play it.
I’m glad everyone is excited for this game. I just want to represent the minority and say, this game does nothing for me.
Oh ye of poor taste, you will remain Maidenless forever.
Great video, dude. Again, your enthusiasm on through the video is awesome. That's perhaps my favorite aspect of your channel. The genuine enjoyment you get as a gamer. Something that is sorely missing from games. Also, dug the way you narrate parts of the video. You should be a narrator on a Fallout or Elder Scroll/Witcher games. I enjoyed the appearance of Bloodborne. That gothic horror style is really cool. If I ever want to torture myself, I'll pick this up. Great video dude. Keep being you, keep up with the content. It's truly awesome.
