Very interesting that you noticed your consumption was smaller on the Hoyt 5" wheels compared to other pneumatics. I wonder if that's from the wheel just being smaller, or the tire sidewall stiffness or something. Anyway, great review!

Great review and I too thought it was a well rounded board and it was my first choice but because of availablity and when I rode the Dadbod I was blown away and got that instead. These boards are on a different level!

Earlier in the year, after receiving my backfire zealot s as a starter board. I was wondering what would or can be my upgrade board. Obviously, depending on looks, speed and range. At the time, i only thing i experienced was a maple deck with concave. No sorta flat deck or carbon fiber even. This a personal choice, but i like supporting American made stores. So by recommendation Hoyt, Metroboards, Mboards and Defiant Board Society. Prices north of 2k, i understood what i was investing in. Mboards endurance was a top contender for range. Claiming about 70 miles+ on street wheels. By looks, it was Hoyt vs Defiant. Defiant Won me over due to its red color scheme and trucks. What made me pull the trigger was an insane sale at July 4th for $700 off. $600 off for the sale an additional $100 for a creator code. As of the time of writing. The projected shipping date, if everything goes right, early September. Damon mentioned previous deck submissions from the factory they ordered at the time wasnt up to spec.

Would you be able to do a review on the Onra Velar? I'm about to buy that board but in terms of specs, it's pretty mediocre, but it just looks really good and from what I've seen has pretty good carvability too.

Neither, honestly. Both board shapes have real dangers in riding them, and the safety (or lessening of risk) depends on the rider and their familiarity and skill, as well as riding choices.
