  • So how do you tell if someone is lying? Liars can use many tactics like changing up their tone of speaking, manipulating their facial expressions, being overly nice to you, etc. But how exactly do you know when you're being lied to? In this video, we have you covered. If you find yourself identifying with some of the signs in the video, don't worry too much. Usually, you have to look for more than one sign to find a consistency.. For example, sign 1 + 7 etc.

You may feel that you are making that person uncomfortable by keeping eye contact. I used to be that way. It shows consideration, which is akin to honesty. Or it may be because of guilt due to lying. There are so many different things to consider! The more clues you have, the greater the chances you will have an accurate overall picture -- just like a huge jigsaw puzzle. This requires a lot of hard thinking, which is work -- something most people do not want to do. That is why there are so many gullible people! But for those who enjoy thinking, stuff like this is priceless. It certainly has more practical value than the things most people waste their energies on. Don't let morons make fun of you for that. Take it as a compliment.

Eye contact scares me because it was enforced in my house as discipline. The way my father and mom made me stare at them while they yelled at me and hit me has scarred me forever, and I refuse to have kids because of it.

One thing I've experienced with a liar is their defensive nature.. If you question anything about them, some times they'll fly off the handle and even deflect and begin accusing you of some wrong-doing.
If you experience this kind of behavior, get away from that person!

    • @JohannaBarnard-sl4jb
      @JohannaBarnard-sl4jb หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very true...
But it starts with how we personally approach the person. If our own emotions are in the front line instead of being matter a fact, then they will become defensive.
For ex. He /she cheated on you. Depites how painful hearing this can be, we want to make sure we are calm when asking a question about it, without sounding like we're attacking. Then you can tell if they are being defensive. They may mimic you in being calm. So watch the body language. Does it shift kind of quickly. Do they huff, which connects to the thought if being punched in the gut. Do they cover their face instantly when being asked. Do they pause too long before answering. Defensive posture can also be, did their body tighten up. Did they stand up abruptly. ..
There are other things to look for.
Many times people will become angry because they feel attacked when they really are innocent. So we need to be careful we take in the whole picture if everything.
The biggest one... watch the pupil of their eyes.
If its dark, pupils are normally large. If lying pupils will shrink.
In the light, pupils are small. When lying, pupils become large.

As a person who used to have a bad habit of lying very often(and I still throw out the occasional small one out of reflex from time to time, working on it), I came to realize while watching this both what I've noticed and improved upon already(control your emotions, pre-create your story at least a little, approach confidently and calmly) and where I had fallen short as a younger liar(I blinked quite a bit, and I held facial expressions too long).
I take your psychology with gratitude, and silently add it to my arsenal of lie-crafting tools XD

My advice would be to study how they act, talk, and REALLY feel around you. If they’re acting strangely or in any unhealthy way for a relationship, it’s indeed time to bring it up to them and talk about it. If they continue lying during that talk, you get the message and should dump them. It may be a difficult process, but it’s worth saving yourself from severe heartbreak in the end. Believe me, I’ve been under a bad situation of a liar for a lover and it is about as bad as a one-sided relationship. Don’t take this as criticism or as an insult, I’m just giving some serious advice.

Lie and lie detecting is always a cat and mouse arms race. This will help catch the obvious ones, but good liars will know the general detection techniques, so you gotta be one step ahead of that. Bad liars can't maintain eye contact. Good liars tend to use too much eye contact to compensate. Anybody that watches this videos will both become better lie detectors AND better liars since they know what to watch out for.

Good video. I just have a few things to add. Good liers Will temd to overdo things. So let's see:
    1. Liers unless begineers will hold eye contact bit will overdo it. Some will even be agressive and hold it too much in an attempt to make you feel uncomfortable with the questioning.
    2. Good/experienced liers would normally provide unnecesary details when telling their story. This is because they try to convince nota convey.
    3. They would often seek for approval ir any hints from you that your buying their story. See if you can catch them doing ir
    4. Keeping a facial expression for too long is unnatural but changing from joy to sorrow too quickly or a smile to a poker face in a blink of an eye it's a red flag, especially if you think you're dealing with a psycopath
    5. Something that's obviosly a red flag once you know how to spot it is emotion-to-situation discrepancies. Say the police is questioning a murder suspect. She hired some hitmen to take care of her own parents. When recollecting the details she seems genuine but then recalls his dad's car and smiles a second before realizing how out of place the displaying of this emotion is and switches back to sorrow quickly. This was one of the things that made the police suspect her. This is btw an actual case the police investigated and she was found guilty on trial

What they meant with that. Is that when someone makes a story to lie about something they create a chronological unfold of events. The story might seem real and very well spoken with ease.. But if you just ask them to tell it backwards their brains will slow down considerably.. When you speak truth it's almost like a flow backwards yeah sure you can lose a few seconds but will come out as genuine. Not in a story processed in only a way of events 😉

    1. Evasiveness: less likely to be specific
    2. Inconsistency: can’t keep stories straight.
    3. Simulated facial expressions
    4. They can’t tell their story backwards
    5. Not maintaining eye contact
    6. They can’t handle unexpected questions. (What are you wearing, what were you eating)
    7. Micro expression (shorter real, longer expressions fake)
    8. Blinking: (frequent blinking-mass emotions-lying)

One thing I wonder about - does neurodivergency and neurotypicalness come into play? If so, how? A neurodivergent person may pay less attention to their surroundings, and not be able to recount them. It doesn’t mean they’re lying. And the same goes with not remembering. They may just simply not know what they ate, as they didn’t pay attention to it

When I've been accused of doing something I actually didn't do, because I strive to be honest in general it takes me a bit to consider whether something I did could have been interpreted as that act. I instinctively give the accusation the benefit of the doubt and thus my response might come across as calculated or over-considered, but in fact it's because it's shocking to me that somebody might deliberately lie about me.

No doubt. Throughout my childhood I had it beat into me how important it was to make eye contact during a conversation (or interrogation). I could force myself, briefly, but my focus would quickly and inadvertently wander. In my thirties I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. My son also abhors eye contact just the same. Those jackoffs that place such a premium on the value of eye contact can go suck the big one.

3:00 Actually, that isn't a solid sign that the person is lying. They could have ADHD and stuff like that, and then they could just have trouble maintaining eye contact in general, and maybe they heard a noise and even seeing a moving car! There is many instances where that is wrong. One of the main signs they are lying is freezing in place, heart beat change and/or increased pauses between speaking.

That's actually not true body laungue is only accurate about 70 percent of the time.
Which mean's they get it wrong about 30 percent.
People which rely on a certain tool to spot lying over exaggerate the effectiveness of their technique.
Take polygraph examiner's they say science back's up them being 98 percent accurate but the study's I have seen say they are 70 percent accurate at the most.
But most study's say their 60 percent accurate so it's safe to say a polygraph is accuare about 60 percent and has a 40 percent fail rate.
At most you can say their are signs of lying but these signs are not unique to lying.
