Selena Movie Description:
The true story of Selena, a Texas-born Tejano singer who rose from cult status to performing at the Astrodome, as well as having chart-topping albums on the Latin music charts.
The film tells the story of the life of Mexican "Tejano" style singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez and the progress of her career resulting in her No. 1 US album.
Written and directed by Gregory Nava, this biopic concentrates on Selena's relationship with her family and her rise to fame, dealing only briefly with her tragic death. Abraham Quintanilla (Edward James Olmos) is a veteran musician who leads a family-based singing group, The Dinos. At a young age, he notices that his daughter Selena (played as a child by Becky Lee Meza) has a strong singing voice, and he works her into the act (her big number is a version of Over the Rainbow). However, as she grows older, Selena (played as an adult by Jennifer Lopez) wants to establish her own musical identity; while her heritage is Mexican-American, her primary language is English, and her favorite artists are American pop acts like Donna Summer. While Selena and Abraham sometimes argue about the musical direction of the group, he always respects and supports her talent, and her blend of Tejano roots music and dance-able pop rhythms soon sparks a revolution in Latin music. Selena later earns the wrath of her father when she becomes romantically involved with Chris Perez (Jon Seda), a rebellious and long-haired guitarist hired to play with the group, but when they elope and Selena convinces Abraham that their love is sincere, Chris is welcomed into the family. After a long string of successes on the Latin charts and playing to a sellout crowd at the Houston Astrodome and a crowd of 100,000 at a stadium in Monterey, Mexico, Selena begins recording her first album in English, which is expected to make her a mainstream star on the level of Whitney Houston or Gloria Estefan. However, the fates decreed it was an album she would never complete. - บันเทิง

When you punched yo chair that shit was funny😂😂😂
please do more reactions of selena, i got a bunch of videos for you to react of selena that not many have reacted to
*This movie hits hard. It's impossible to not cry at the end of it, especially when they show the montage of pictures and videos of her as her song "Dreaming Of You" plays. Being Mexican-American myself, Selena was basically our Princess Diana. She was incredibly talented and supremely kind, But ultimately died young. She was only 23 at the time of her death.*
Prayers ❤ from New Orleans.
Listennnnnn!!! The way you jumped out of that chair at the end!!!!!! That’s exactly how we all felt. Black, White, Hispanic. We all can collectively say that Yolanda’s ass can rot in jail forever!!!!
I swear!
Man I cried all over again like I was a teen again. then after I saw this, I knew her songs before this movie came out. I lived in New Orleans.
I just feel bad for the lady (Lupe) who portrayed her. They were acting like she was the real Yolanda Salvador.
I've read that many drug cartels and gangs, including the Mexican Mafia, have a price on the POS's head. I say let them have at her!
The 30th anniversary of the crime is coming up next year. Yolanda is now in her 60s. The actress who played her was much older than the actual woman. Unfortunately, Yolanda is supposed to be out on parole next year. Someone is going to unalive her when she gets out. I guarantee it. I'm surprised a fellow inmate has not already. I would be completely satisfied for Yolanda to remain in prison to the end of her days. No parole.
Man The Fact That This A Real Story Fam. R.I.P. Selena 💔❤🩹🕊
And Yolanda recently did a documentary and lied said her and Yolanda was lovers like girl Selena didn’t want your ass
@@imauniryne6757Ughhh just disgusting....just how damn delusional is she? Like a young beautiful woman of her talent and stature would EVER touch her with a ten foot pole 🤢🤢🤢

Apparently the psycho that killed her is supposed to be up for parole in 2025 if she gets out all i gotta say is best believe people will be waiting outside the prison for her ass and best believe she will be dealt with
Little Hispanic girls be dressing up like Selena for their birthday and hitting a Yolanda piñata she might as well stay in jail
Little Hispanic girls be dressing up like Selena for their birthday and hitting a Yolanda piñata she might as well stay in jail
She's going to die before she is released...
She ain’t making it across the threshold.
From the 1st episode when the people at the time were being interviewed that one lady said "she better get locked up, because she ain't gonna make it out here, I guarantee that" 😂
I literally can not watch Selena without crying. If I hear the first note of Dreaming of You.. It makes me so sad. because i think of how she was taken so soon and how devastated Chris was.
Sheesh..
Man I can't listen to Dreaming of you without crying 🌹
Bidi Bidi Bom Bom is the sound of your heart for someone that you're in love with whenever that person is in your presence your heart skips a beat and it goes Bidi Bidi Bom Bom
Mhhhhhhhhhhmmmmm
There was a deleted scene in this movie where Selena had this fashion show, and at the end of the fashion show, she was walking towards Yolanda, but then she tripped and fell, and that woman didn't even help her up, just stood and turned her nose up at her. That's how I knew that lady was low down...anyway good upload 😊❤👍👍
Respectfully, Abraham’s speech in the car about what it’s like to be Mexican-American is one of the most profound and relatable moments for a lot of us who weren’t raised to speak Spanish. It’s a very complex identity and can be painful when your identity as both Mexican and American is also rejected by both. Anyway, it was interesting to watch a young person who doesn’t know Selena’s story watch this movie 😊
glad you enjoyed❤
Same! My grandparents never taught my dad or uncles because they wanted to make sure they were assimilated to America. Thus my sisters and I were never taught. I've tried learning on my own and I know some basic stuff but definitely not good at all lol
@@stuckinmyshow yes my Nana told me how they were punished in school for using Spanish (1930’s). She told me how she once almost got picked to give a speech in school because it was so good, but they let another little girl give her speech because that girl was Anglo. Out of my 4 grandparents, 3 were born here and they didn’t teach their kids Spanish, so by the time my generation came along were completely monolingual. There’s so much pain around our ancestor’s relationship with their language and culture, and it doesn’t help people like us when those who are supposed to be our people bully us over something we had no control over.
It’s the same for many Black Americans. Too black for white people and not Black enough for Africans. With an identity being stripped, sometimes it’s hard to find where you belong in America.
That is my favourite scene in the movie, because any diaspora group can relate to that monologue. Coming from a Pakistani living in Ireland.
The ending is always so hard to watch even after all these years 😢 R.I.P Selena 🥀
♥️♥️
Fun fact: that was actually Chris Perez playing the guitar during Chris' audition scene. Did you peep how Yolanda took the credit for buying her the ring when it came from money that the other ladies were going to use to get her a present? Also, the fans in the movie that were acting as fans and 1:05:11 onward, were real Selena fans.
“That’s all you got for me” after the Disco Medley ended… mind you the real disco medley is almost 8 minutes long and was the opening for that particular concert, where she performed for over an 1 hour, no breaks, no costume changes, no in-ear monitors, and dancing all the show with high heel boots. It’s exceptional.
The moral of her story, BE CAREFUL WHO U TRUST WHEN IT COMES TO UR MONEY & THE FANATICS.
It could really be the most unexpected person ever, sad because she had been given so much warnings but was too naive, innocent and trusting to know it. She trusted her completely...
The mic being to close to her mouth, that’s how much JLo studied Selena. Selena used to hold her mic very close to her mouth and was always tainted with her red lipstick, she would clean it with a little brush after every concert, but after her last concert, sadly she couldn’t clean it one last time. Now it’s on display at her museum in Corpus Christi, with the lipstick still on it.
That’s actually kinda cool ngl..
Wow cool fun fact!
they call it selena's ever lasting kiss :,)
Yesss, and it even looks like a smiley face up close lol.
Not my Selena!!! I was in middle school when we heard the news, we all cried and I still cry to this day. She was such a beautiful soul.
Yessss and a style icon too ❤❤❤ she inspired me to become one as well
Selena was did during my last two years of grade school but I remember watching this movie when I started high school when I was in Spanish class
I was also in middle school when she passed. I didn’t know who she was until that announcement. Watching this movie, especially the end HURT to know that a beautiful soul was taken so soon. After listening to her music and watching the film (JLO did beautiful with this portrayal), I am a life long fan. ❤
when his father ask in interview what he could change about selena his father said he could change selena about trusting people she's to much trusting people and think that anyone could hurt her
she could be still with us today
“You’re just never gonna take your hair out of a ponytail?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Chris hair down
Nooooooo he ain't gonna do that. Watch the documentary of the aftermath of Selena's family & her husband, if u wonder how r they're doing.
Your reaction was so genuine. After watching your reaction to this movie I can see how the writers did get the message that this movie intended to get across. The way you felt when you saw in the movie that Selena was shot was the exact same way Selena's fans reacted to hearing the news and the sadness you felt when you found out that Selena passed away is the saw exact saddest Selena 's fans displayed back when they found out. When you began punching the chair when you found out that Selena was dead is the same emotions that many and most of Selena's fans felt back then. The fans were so sadden and out raged, truly . They were so mad at Yolanda and were actually asking for the death penalty for Yolanda. It saddened the fans that Selena was so young and at the peak of her career when her life was taken from her and everyone who loved her. Your reaction took me back to what we lived back then. Wonderful reaction
This movie will forever be iconic and it still hits hard asf no matter how much I've seen this movie since childhood. One of my favorite biopics! J. Lo did such an amazing job playing Selena. 🙏🏻 R.I.P SELENA 🥺❤️
Selena Gomez was named after this artist Selena Quintanilla with her Latina background from her father side of the family
Selena gomez parents are big fans of Selena quintanilla. That's why they named their daughter after her.
The ending of this movie always makes me bawl my eyes out😭😭😭
I still cry every time I watch the ending. She had such a a beautiful soul. She is a Texas legend and a queen taken too soon. I was barely a year old when she died.
56:50 Nah that wasn’t the year MJ lost that award. That was 1988. Selena won that award in 1994.
Yolanda was a selena obsessed fan more than a family member....she took one of the greatest rip selena perez❤ 🌹 💐
J. Lo started her music career because of Selena
It’s sad that we had to lose such a artist to make another one shine 😢

I loved Selena me and my mom listened to her when she was still alive. She was the 1st celebrity that i cried my eyes out over 😢 she is so missed
To compare Beyonce to Selena is unfair. Selena was much more than just popular, she was beloved and broke boundaries.
It was just a wave for the person to get him to understand Selena‘s importance to the Latin community.
"This is how my Sim sounds when it's level one" is so accurate 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Finally a reaction where they know nothing about her! 😭 loved this reaction! Thankyou for watching it! First time she went to see Yolanda Chris was with her
Second time she didn’t tell him so he wasn’t able to go with her and we’ll look what happened 🥲
im glad you enjoyed!
She probably would have shot and killed Chris too.
i cried at the montage at the end 😭 any time i watch something Selena related i always end up crying. She did so much for mexican americans, she had so much to live for.
Yes it is truly a piss off to me that she was young and beautiful and talented, had everything to live for that a girl could possibly want, just to have some delusional wacko take it from her 😠😠😡
I Could Fall In Love is a beautiful song by Selena. 😊❤
This biopic made J.Lo a household name. Prior to this biopic J.Lo was a fly girl on the 90s sketch comedy show In Living Color & she was on the forgotten short lived sitcom South Central with Larenz Tate.
Selena and Chris’s story will forever touch my heart. They fought to make sure that marriage was gon’ happen! 😂❤️
Fun Fact: Did you know Selena’s dad didn't want Jennifer Lopez to play Selena? I forgot why but I read it on the internet.
It was because she's not Mexican, JLo is Puerto Rican & a lot of Selena's fans were upset that a Puerto Rican was going to play Selena. They wanted a Mexican to play Selena, & I believe the first person they initially chose ended up getting murdered by her boyfriend, so they went with JLo.
I discovered Selena through this movie when i was younger and had the same exact reaction to the ending. 😩 gone too soon for sure
facts
Selena won tons of Tejano Awards of TexMex awards her brutha A.B wrote Songs and wanted love from all her fans and In a relationship with guitarist who is Chris Pérez who makes Selena feel so loved and happy and really respected.
Mannnn my feelings get hurt every time i watch this movie🥹💜 J LO did her thang ngl!
I saw this movie for the first time in sixth grade. my music teacher introduced me to it. when I read about what happened to her, I refused to watch the death scene until years later.
I cry everytime I watch this movie 😭
Fun fact: the last person that saw Selena alive besides Yolanda of course was her father in law. Chris’ father was visiting them and she crossed him in the hall way leaving that morning to meet Yolanda. 😢😢😢
Yeah and he even took a picture of them tg
The way u hit that chair wen u found out she past… I felt your pain n every punch lol… she was a beautiful soul… rip lena
The woman that plays Selena's mom in this is beautiful. She played George Lopez wife on his show too.
And after watching this movie when I was a teen, I cried like a baby bc she was very beautiful, hardworking & genius. She was a lot for her great talents & was willing to change anything. Prayers for her family to keep living.❤😢
Bruh the ending when that song start… tears every time
I love Selena!!!
Selena was one of the first successful female (Mexican) artists there was. That’s also why her sister Suzette didn’t want to play the drums because all while growing up they heard that women couldn’t sing, be successful etc etc.
You are so real for punching your chair like that and the way you muttered "fuck" when you saw Chris cry, it's truly heartbreaking.
Thanks for reacting to this film, Selena's music will forever be iconic especially too mexican-americans like me who grew up listening to her beautiful music!
yolanda had shown selena her gun before that day, and yolanda had attempted to meet selena alone multiple times before that day. she shot selena in the back while selena turned and ran away.
Great reaction, SL. It's such a shame what happened to Selena, RIP.
glad you enjoyed❤
the fact that yolanda could be coming out next year, irks me.
Why they even made the POS eligible for parole after 30 years is beyond my comprehension!
fr btch gets to live and selena doesn't 🙁
@@dbzgal04 someone will take care of her as soon as she gets out. I'm not the only one who says this. Yolanda should just stay locked up for the rest of her life for her own safety.
Seeing Chris cry at the end always makes me cry. Everyone else had someone to go home to except him 💔 she deserved better
Bro im over here waiting for someone to react to selena and here you come bro ❤

My favorite movie! RIP Selena 💜
This movie was heartbreaking fr ‘Preciate you for reacting to this
Congrats on 23K btw
Chris Perez’s part at the end will always get me
Such a major loss..this still brings me to tears after all these years..will never forget the day I heard the news, good reaction ❤ from Louisiana
Dreaming of you was written for Chris Perez he never listened to it until after she passed he was supposed to be in the studio with her when she made that song but Abraham would keep him and her busy always so he wasn’t able to watch his wife make a masterpiece about him he ended up doing drugs for awhile then met his 2nd wife had 2 kids and then divorced he said no woman can ever compare to Selena she was his person and she was taken from him because of jealousy and anger they were literally talking about slowing down from doing music so they could start there own family and nope she was killed had Yolanda hit a little more up or down she would have made it but it got a main artery and she bled out her last words were “Lock the door! She'll shoot me again!" As the motel's manager called for an ambulance, she identified Saldívar as her shooter and the room where she was staying then said before her final breathe "Yolanda ... 158” she at least was able to tell them her murderers name also there’s a show for Selena but that one talks more about the siblings also Selena and my mom are/would be the same age and another lady was gonna play her but she passed so jlo got it instead
Abraham was on his Joe Jackson
I'm having Deja Vu because I could have sworn you reacted to this already. I vividly remember seeing this video about a month or so ago 🤔 😮
When you punched the chair, man, I understand your anger!
I'd also like to mention, Selena is one of my biggest heroes and inspirations, having motivated and inspired me to pursue my dreams and goals. I served in the US Army for 3 years (2009-2012). As I'm sure you can guess, there were several people who didn't want me to join because they'd worry and didn't want anything to happen, blah blah blah. But then again, you don't have to be in the military for something bad to happen. Selena wasn't in the military, and we all know what happened to her. 😡
She'll always have a meaningful place in my heart. 💖
I remember the first time i watched this movie. I was 10. My childhood friend had it on vhs and never told me how it ended when we watched it. I literally cried like I lost a best friend and didnt talk to that girl for a WHOLE week because how you not gonna tell me we're gonna end on such a terrible low after having a ball for two hours watching?!? I was CRUSHED, do you hear me?!?
Hi i come from Scotland and i only discovered the real Selena and became a fan of hers after her murder because of this movie. Jennifer Lopez gave her best movie performance in this as Selena. This is my first time on your channel. Loved your reaction. Selena is a true legend. She lived her short life to the fullest.
The place where she was shot the front desk people didn’t respond quick enough. When she got shot she made it the lobby of the motel and collapsed while asking for help.
Fun Fact! J. Lo lip synced all of this, so the singing voice you’re hearing is actually Selena singing.

Selena would have freaking played DISNEY WORLD TOO is she had lived long enough!!
Well In 1993 Selena and her band played at Disney land one time ❤
You are so funny!😂I really enjoyed your reaction.
If you wanna see a more in depth visual and more important details of her life and her family, the tv show on Netflix was good.
The part they forget to put in is that Selena could have been saved with a blood transfusion which her family refused to let happen.
really? wth..
this stupid ass theory is never gonna rest is it…do your research because she was given blood. she was beyond saving…
Please stop spreading that false rumor.
Please stop lying, she got the transfusion but the blood spilled back out into her body because her artery was done.
She was given a blood transfusion, but it was too late. She had pumped all the blood out of her body when she ran across the courtyard at the hotel.

Selena’s brother has a lot of kids. Her sister has one son and is now a grandmother.
I will always love how much LOVE Selena gets from Black people. It’s a beautiful thing to us Hispanics. You feel us and we feel you because we know & love Aaliyah and we know exactly what happened to her. And don’t even get me started on Left Eye, 2Pac or Biggie. Much love. 🙏🏽🇲🇽🙏🏽
