Trivia: Spacey only took the role of John Doe when the producers agreed not to put his name in the opening credits. He was a big enough name at the time that within 30 minutes of watching the film, everyone would figure out Kevin Spacey was the killer. One of his best roles, he nailed it!✌❤

The fingerprint tech is Morgan’s son.
Brad and Gwyneth were a couple when this was made.

Yea you can see the moment when he decides in his eyes... I feel like he's a weirdly underrated actor... like people love him and everything but I feel like he's one of those actors where it's sort of easy to forget how good his dramatic chops can be, because he does a lot of silly cameo parts and comedic stuff and doesn't take himself too seriously, but there are a few roles that if you go back and watch, he just blows you away with some of the subtle nuances to his performances.

The cops were calling the detectives "decs."
Fun facts: The director, David Fincher, didn't tell the background actors that the sloth victim was a real person or that he'd move, so their reactions were real.
One of the SWAT guys was played by John C. McGinley, best known as Dr. Cox from "Scrubs."
The studio wanted a happy ending, but Brad Pitt threatened to leave the filming if they changed the ending.
Actor Leland Orser (the guy who wore the "Lust" weapon) did breathing exercises in order to hyperventilate at will and didn't sleep for a few days in order to look disoriented and disheveled.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but if you go to 45:37 in this cutdown reaction, and you may have to go a frame at a time, there is a brief 2 frame bright shot of Mills' wife looking right into camera. Fincher has done this in other films, as have other filmmakers, but it's a subliminal shot that most people won't even notice, or register, or even miss in the literal blink of an eye (regular film speed is 24 images per second, so that shot is about 1/6 of a second long). It's just a flash of her he's seeing as he processes everything that's happening. That whole 'What's in the box?' scene might by my favorite of Brad's entire career. Yeah, it's a dark film, for sure, and not one some people want to watch more than once.

True, but last year in May the FBI announced they got a partial DNA hit on Air Force veteran Gary Francis Poste. Also, Poste confessed to 6 different people that he was the Zodiac Killer while he was still alive, and 3 of them are documented in FBI court affidavits. So they believe he was the Zodiac. We'll never know for sure, but it was probably him (not who they suspected in the movie, but the movie was still very well done and worth watching).

David Fincher is a really talented director. He got his start directing a ton of music videos for a wide variety of artists, and continued to directing them throughout his career. His first feature was the third film in the Alien series called Alien3, a lot of people don't like that film but I do. This was his second feature film. Then came The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network and many more movies and he has also produced some cool TV series. He is a profound creative source and major actors flock to him.

I saw Se7en in Melbourne (Aus) almost 30 years ago when I was backpacking. The cinema had amazing surround sound, and when John Doe shoots at them on the landing the bullet sounds were so loud and coming from under the seats, JUST UNREAL. Without doubt my number 1 film of all time. Every scene is so atmospheric. Lastly the acting from Freeman and Pitt, just genius.
